Unlikely that Torres was accounted for so simply, but there are other reasons the £67m may not be too significant an obstacle- us fans have no idea how that £67m is made up. It could be that much of it comes from expenses UEFA is happy to disregard.

have you considered the fact that player transfer fees are amortised over their length of contract? in that sense it adds about 10mn to that figure, not 50mn alone.

And for a fact 30mn are in there due to managerial compensation, biggest portion of the dough.

No, that's amortised, so the transfer fees from last winter would only add about 10 or 15 million.

If the losses all came from expenses that UEFA disregard, that would still leave us with nothing.

The official announcement said that 'terms' had been agreed. This may mean that there was a fee but, on th other hand, it might also mean that there was not.

Exactly this. Why the hell let Josh go on loan when there's no intention of buying anyone for midfield. Yeah, Essien's back but is yet unproven after his recovery.
