It was announced in the programme yesterday that Peter Osgoods ashes will be laid at Stamford Bridge. A memorial service will take place at the Bridge which fans may attend. Should be an emotional day, anyone thinking of going?

I should like to attend that. It think it is very fitting that his ashes will be all over SB.

Yeah I Think Thats a Great Idea!! Id Love To See That Happen!! Maybe They Could Be Scattered From Inside the trophy!! If That Is Possible!! Very Fitting What With The Crown On The Trophy Too!

I'm sure that would go down well with most fans. Guess its down to his family to decide, as they may well want a more private "time" to scatter the ashes.

Did they actually mention that they were planning to 'scatter' the ashes? Just seems a bit odd considering they replace the pitch every season.

It says in the programme, on page 17:

"His ashes will be laid in a permanent place at Stamford Bridge".

No mention of them being scattered.

I took this to mean that the urn would be kept somewhere in the ground.

As Michael says, the pitch is dug up twice a year, and therefore hardly a permanent resting place.

Thought it was a really nice touch that Ian Hutchinson's widow was at the match on Saturday. What a fantastic pairing these two were on the pitch - if slightly less succesfull when it came to running a pub.

This "not being announced publicly" thing. Would that be this?

Chelsea Football Club is paying our respects to the late Peter Osgood in a memorial service at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, October 1 at 1pm.

Key members of Chelsea FC will be joined by Peter's family, friends and past team-mates to celebrate his career and bury his ashes.

Fans are invited to come along and join in the service.

All people wishing to attend must have a ticket for the day. Unfortunately, due to ground regulations for non-football events, there is a limit to the possible attendance.

To receive your tickets, up to a maximum of four per person, click here

Although the preferred registration method for this event is via the website, if you do not have access to a computer you can call 020 7915 2211 where you will be able to leave your details and we will send the tickets to you.

This is the day after the Villa home game.

So, when it says "Key members of Chelsea FC will be joined by Peter's family, friends and past team-mates to celebrate his career and bury his ashes" in that announcement you're saying it's not accurate? Underneath a penalty spot, so I'm led to believe (not sure where I picked that bit from tbh).

Where did you get your info from, why would you know and why would the club announce something that's not true? I'm just confused why I should accept any other than the official club announcement on this.

Hi,
I think you have missunderstood me as all I'm stating is that I know exactly where they are going to bury the ashes, all the CFC statements are accurate. The fact that the pitch is changed regularly Ossies ashes are going to be burried rather than scattered.
