"Chelsea FC has been in discussions with Arsenal Football Club for some time over the possible transfer of Ashley Cole.
“Chelsea has made a very substantial offer for the player. Although discussions have continued, Arsenal’s valuation of the player does not match Chelsea’s and therefore no agreement can be reached in the current circumstances ."

It wouldn't give more cover as he'd remain our only left-back if Bridge left and unlike Cole who's frequently injured Bridge hardly ever is (you can't count a broken ankle). Before Lampard it was Bridge who held the record for consecutive league appearances from his time in Southampton.
This whole thing just doesn't make any sense to me. as Michael Tucker pointed out elsewhere I'd rather we signed a young prospect like Gael Clichy (not necessarily him though) to play as back-up to Bridge.

I think we lose much of our potency by playing someone like Boulahrouz at right back when to me it seems that he is not suited to bombing down the flanks. I think it is possible to play with two left footed attacking fullbacks I.e. Bridge and Cole. Germany plays to great effect with Lahm at left back and he is very much a right footed player. Personally, I would play Bridge at left back (due to a couple of crosses he attempted earlier in the season that were with the left when the right seemed a better option) and A. Cole (haven't seen A. Cole all that often so is he capable of anything with his right?) at right back. What do you think and who would you play on which flank? Oh and Do you think JM would dabble with this? In preseason he played Ferreira at LB (I know it was circumstance but hey he did).

Some good points about how Ashley Cole is adapting to Chelsea and how Chelsea is adapting to him. It mentions how Kalid benefits by having Ashley Cole on the side and how Bridge and Ferreira are the ones to suffer.
Only thing I disagreed with is the suggestion that Ashley Cole could rule a left winger (I.e. Robben) useless. I think if anything it will allow a left winger to combine well with an attacking left. It will also let Robben make more runs inside which we all know he likes to do.

Obviously the Premiership has only been won by Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Blackburn.
Cantona I think won the old first division title with Leeds in 1992 and then titles with Manchester United, but has a player ever won two Premiership titles with different clubs, the only player I can think might have done is David May?

No James, the plot is far from thickening, in fact the only plot here is the plot you are obviously in danger of losing.
a) Ashley Cole is hardly going to leave the gooners for us - Real Madrid maybe but not us.
B) You read a (red top) article with no quotes and attach truth to it. This is a fundamental error which I hope you aren't in the habit of making. :-)
