I'm with hesho. For one, Santos only own some 60% of his rights. The rest 40% are owned by a consortium, and Neymar's release clause is some £28m. I can't see us spending that much on a kid who has done nothing in the better half of the footballing world.

Sky now quoting his agent saying he has had talks with West Ham. Brazilian sources say we are doing a deal like we did with Alex, and effectively loaning him out to West Ham for a year, and the deal to West Ham is basically that he will join us in a years time, once he's adapted to English football!

If this kid is as good as they are saying, then we could have a star of the future...

Interesting deal, though I wonder how much truth there is in it.

Apart from anything else, if we were actually involved then surely it would be West London that Neymar was travelling to for talks...?

As Hesho said, there were similar rumours about Tevez and we all know how that ended up.

Just remember, Avram Grant and Roman are still good friends, despite Grant's departure from Chelsea. Wouldn't surprise me if Roman has partially funded this deal, for less than the buyout clause and that the eventual transfer to West Ham will have a sell on clause meaning Santos get a percentage of the sell on, which will probably be a pre-arranged fee meaning that eventually Santos get the entire buy out clause and the Hammers get all their money back.

All behind the scenes mind, but don't be surprised at all if that is the case. And it will never be made public either, it will always be denied.

Lets see where he ends up next summer - then we'll know.

It all makes perfect sense. We're going to pay a fee for a player who will then be sold to West Ham under the premise that he then gets 'sold' to us next year after which we then pay another fee to make up the original fee we paid so that the original buyout fee which wasn't included in the selling fee is reached.

Simples.

All sounds like it would be in complete breach of the Premier League's 'Third Party Ownership' rules, and therefore I think it's a load of cobblers.

sounds good. I heard we have done the same with Rooney, Villa and we are only waiting for Messi to get better than Kalou and we will call him back.
