Would Drogba actually prove to be a success at Chelsea?

Looks like they are still chasing Drogba. Which makes me wonder if Crespo is commited at all...

I know he is been given 10 days until the 21st to decide but I would rather he made up his mind now. Personally Drogba looks much better value for money than Crespo...

Are we still gonna go for Drogba when Marseille have put his price tag up to 26.7 million?
I'd love to see a player with his class and strength at the bridge and anyway we've got the money!!

Ok Chelsea fans, put yourself in the hot seat for a few minutes.
You're the new Chelsea manager. Your big name striker has just departed for Italy. The new season is only weeks away, and you need to sign a replacement, urgently. The new guy must be able to blend perfectly with the other strikers at your disposal. You have 27.5 million to spend. The 2 most obvious names on everybody's lips are: Didier Drogba and, Wayne Rooney.

Drogba the target man. Big, strong and quick. Deadly finisher.
Rooney the wonder boy of English football. Short, mobile "loose" striker who enjoys sitting off the target man. Deadly finisher.

On one hand, you know that Marseille have inflated Drogba's price, simply because it's Chelsea that want him, and they know you have plenty of money to burn.

On the other, Everton have already reduced the asking price for Rooney (their only asset) from a ludicrous 50 mill (no takers), to a more reasonable 30 mill (still no takers). You realise that if you knock on their door with 27.5 mill in your briefcase, wonder boy will be yours.

So, people, which one do you buy?

Not, "who do you think Chelsea will buy?", because we pretty much know the answer to that already.
I'd like to know who YOU'D buy, and why?

Its 'official'! There will be an announcment later this afternoon. According to a Marseille spokeswoman, The 26-year-old Ivory Coast striker will become Roman Abramovich's latest big-money signing, teaming up with Mateja Kezman and Felipe Oliveira.

To be honest, I never realised that Felipe was one of our big name signings? How strange! :S

Didier Drogba will fly to London on Tuesday to complete his transfer to Chelsea, after the Stamford Bridge club agreed a £24m fee with Marseille.
"Chelsea are delighted to confirm we have agreed terms with the French club Marseille for the transfer of Didier Drogba," said a statement on Monday.

source- BBC Sport website

And actually confirmed on the official site.

Hey all. I am new to this forum and would just like to say hello to my fellow Chelsea supporters.

I don't know if this has been posted on this forum but here goes anyway.
http://leadersdufutu...e.fr/Drogba.wmv - Great video.

I am very exicted about Drogba, he appears to be a very complete player, tall, big, fast, two footed, can dribble, can header and has a great 1st touch.

Enjoy.

Here is a taunting the opposition song for Drogba:

WHO LET THE DROG IN? YOU, YOU YOU YOU YOU!
WHO LET THE DROG IN? YOU, YOU YOU YOU YOU!
WHO LET THE DROG IN? YOU, YOU YOU YOU YOU!

So the FA has decided that sitting out friendlies doesn't count towards the punishment of a red card.. If friendlies don't count then how come the red card counts? After all, it was given in a friendly.

Case of double standards?

What do you think about Drogba-Mutu combo?

I think this combination is the most lethal ones. However, we haven't seen them together yet. Mutu is a better player if he is accompanied by a very physical player like Adriano when he was in Parma.

I hope that JM already thought about it.

sadly not over a pint though. Went to the away kit launch at the maegastore. After 2 hrs queuing got him to sign the 1st edition of the official chelsea magazine (which I will sell on e-bay in 2007 for a deposit on a flat after he's got the golden boot 3 years in a row) and my chelsea top (a home one not away one). Told him in french that I was hoping that he scored 32 goals this season, that thierry henry was nothing compared to him, that he wasnt allowed to "do a Crespo on us" and "vivre le cheval" - "long live the horse" (I understand the horse was his nickname in marseille - didn't manage to confirm this myth though) He seemed very smiley and happy always laughing and posing for photo's and it seemed very genuine. He had a "good" reception but can't help but feel that on sunday is when we need to knock his socks off. everyone who goes to Stamford bridge has to give him a rapturous reception to really let him feel welcome and see the passion we have for the club outweighs even its chequebook..... also on the bbc website they have a the set of player profiles and apparently arjen Robben weighs more than didier (first name basis now with old D-D)
