We're being linked to the young midfielder by the News of the World so don't start ordering your Ramires shirts just yet.

BLUES MAKE ENQUIRY FOR RAMIRES
Bayern also in for Brazilian

By Aidan Magee, 03/07/2010
CHELSEA have made an enquiry about Brazilian Ramires.

The Benfica midfielder, who has 16 full caps, represented his country at the World Cup in four games before missing the defeat to Holland through suspension.

Ramires has served just one year of a five-year contract but his agent Luis Carlini says Chelsea and Bayern Munich have contacted the Portuguese club.

Carlini said: "Many clubs from the big European leagues have been in contact about Ramires. Chelsea and Bayern have spoken to Benfica, but I can't say more."

Ramires, 23, is known as The Blue Kenyan because he wore blue at his previous club Cruzeiro, where his stamina was likened to that of a Kenyan long-distance runner. The Brazilian was signed by Benfica last summer for £6.5million but he is now valued at around four times that amount and has a release clause of £27m.

Ramires said: "I came to Europe to win championships. It is normal that I would look at any offers from clubs in bigger leagues but I am currently under contract and Benfica will have the final say."

The Portuguese club insist they are yet to receive any formal offers.

If you're trying to sound even a little bit credible, try getting the player's name right. It's Mineiro.

It wasn't even an 'e' that you missed out, it was an 'I'. Which, as you said, would make no difference to the sound.

What on earth are you talking about? He's about 10 years younger than Mineiro was for one, a good deal better already and a different sort of player at that. He would offer plenty to Chelsea after the loss of Ballack, Belletti, Cole and Deco.

Ramires is a terrific player. Potentially a world beater.

what ??

first of all I meant his style of play not his age .. I thought that was obvious !

I watched some matches for him with brazil and there is nothing special about him

world beater .. yeah right !

He signed a 5 year contract only last year, with a release clause of around £25m. There is no way we are paying that for a relatively untested 23 year old, who's main attribute appears to be endurance.

So how much of him have you seen exactly? "some matches for him with brazil" - Brilliant. I'm starting to wonder how many of your opinions you base entirely on the World Cup.

Calling him "another Mineiro" is ridiculous on a number of levels. It's ignorant.

Also, what is wrong with Mineiro's "style of play" anyway?

in some friendly games last year and with benfica in the europa league .. enough ? .. absolutely not but I don't think unless u're brazilian or portuguese that u've seen him more than I did

from what I saw he is average at best .. friend of mine that loves brazil told me he shouldn't be in the brazil squad for the world cup so how can he be eventually a world beater ?

maybe he was bad in the games I watched I don't know

mineiro ?? .. did u ever see him on the pitch with chelsea ?

and one last thing .. I don't judge players by their world cup performances and if I did I'd have wanted chelsea to get rid of Terry Lampard and maybe Cole

Right. Your friend that loves Brazil doesn't think he should be in the squad. I think we'll leave it at that.
