Boss is 28, Ferreira is done for and we have no RB coming up the youth rank. Ivanovic represents our best RB option.
Will not read too much into bosingwa's contract extension of just 12 months.. You do not give a player you have high hopes for 12 months extension. I think this is just to buy us time to get a replacement as well as to reserve Bosingwa's market value. Boss right now can still fetch us 7-10m in the market as well as be used as a make weight for future tranfer targets..
Chelsea board need to learn to plan accordingly.. Now we are trying to get luiz/kjear. Players we would have gotten at much cheaper prices if we made attempts to replace Riccy over the summer than waiting for a defensive crisis..

I disagree that the players would be cheaper because as soon as we registered an interest their value would have shot to what it is now. It happens with any player I'd be tempted to leak our interest in sol Campbell and see what we can get his value up to

I'm watching Utrecht-Ajax as we speak and he is the worst player out there. Absolutely shocking game he's having.
It's getting a bit embarrassing as the half went on. HT, 2-0 Utrecht.

Not disappointed that Bayern got him, but at the fee reported, 10mn is pretty good bargain negotiation.

Or, alternatively, one or a combination of the following:
1) It's not true
2) Chelsea have other targets lined up just in case we didn't get our primary one, as we normally do
3) We were never interested to begin with

1) The source ("tz" - Tageszeitung) is Munich-based and usually very informed about the comings and goings at Bayern. No guarantee, but it's not like it's goal.com
2) Probably. But I don't see many alternatives. Ivanovic is pretty solid, but lacks some skills up front. We'd need someone offensive, who can defend, too. Short of buying Ramos from Real Madrid, I'm not sure anybody would provide much of an upgrade. I'd throw Isla into the room (I was impressed by him at the WC).
3) Frank Arnesen mentioned van der Wiel and a possible move for him in the summer. Given the low price and our current poor alternatives to Ivanovic, I'm guessing we were definitely giving this boy a good look.

We shouldn't cry for him going to Munich. The croatian kid, Sime Vrsaljko, could be a better option.

Have to agree, a Bosman for Srna makes a lot of sense in my eyes.
It gives us quality at rightback, good delivery from dead ball situations and with him being 28/29, allows us to search properly for a replacement during the next few years.
