I imagine that Genk allowed us to do the business now on the proviso that he immediately be loaned back to Genk for the remainder of the season, and avoiding us possibly becoming embroiled in a bidding war with someone else in the summer. As KdB himself says in his interview on the Chelsea web site, the difference between playing at Genk and at Chelsea is several steps up, so remaining at Genk this season and being loaned out to, say, a club like Swansea for the first half of next season actually makes more sense than throwing him in at the deep end immediately.
Hah! (see my post above).
