This for me is a crucial appointment for the new coaching set up, because I think we need someone with a bit of CL and PL experience if possible, but no idea where you go for that? I wonder if Steve Clarke could be tempted to hop back down to London?

Welcome back AVB and good luck at Chelsea.
Now it's time to rebuild the squad.

I just want the club to let him get on with the job - his own backroom team, fresh ideas, fresh players, let's go for it!

And once again Graeme Souness proves why he couldn't make it as a manager.
Idiot.
I'd put alot of money on AVB having more managerial knowledge and talent in his little toe than Souness has in his entire body.
Fantastic appointment for us, I'm both delighted and really excited by it. 2 or 3 decent signings and a good pre-season and I've no doubt we'll be enjoying a successful season this year.
Sounds like envy to me. Secondly, he states that Ancelotti didn't make any mistakes last season, and due to 'circumstances' things didn't go his way. I think that is probably the most common excuse anyone can make for themselves. Besides, Ancelotti himself has said that it was his fault for effing things up last season. I'm sorry but nobody is going to get me down on this. Villas-Boas is a fantastic appointment by the club - one that did require some balls. Hopefully AVB is here for seasons to come.
I also feel it was very rude that Souness calls him a novice. Regardless of the strength of Porto (who by the way finished 4th the season prior), he broke some amazing records - ones that even Jose didn't. So as far as I am concerned, I'm just going to give Souness the finger and move on.

That can only be a good thing, now let's sign a couple of players that'll really make them crap their pants:)

Right about that weren't you Ian? What excuse you trotting out for this?
Wonder what Ian McGarry 'definitely Hiddink with Van Basten' really thinks now? Can't believe I defended Ian McGarry on here. All you who slammed me for defending him - you were right.
He may have been right a few times, but beginning to realise that was more canny guesses and a bit of luck, rather than inside knowledge. Fair play, hands up, I was wrong about him.
