Another 'Romelu Lukaku', another teenager prodigy who wants to come here and play for Chelsea. He says he was a Chelsea fan before Roman. He's 17, plays with Partizan and has scored six goals in thirteen league matches until now.

It was reported quite a while ago, don't know why Sun dug that up again.

Here's a video that was on the Guardian's site. Honestly, he reminds me a little too much of Walcott.

his very highly rated by people that watch the serbian league. many say he is the best player at partizan and indeed the whole league.

I only know of him from the previous time he was mentioned, he looks fast on the youtube relative to the players he is against.

only 17 as well. according to some others on the web he is also agile and a right footed striker.

could be an interesting buy especially at 17(march born) but can't see him being a first team buy, more like a di santo type buy and hope thing.

I am familiar with Serbian League. He's probably been the biggest young talent in Serbia in the last ten years. He became starter at only 17. He is a striker who can play on the left, right or in the middle. And during the match he plays everywhere up front.
He is pacey and very skilful. What I like about him the most, he is genuine team player, not selfish at all. He passes very well, if he had more talented teammates, he would have had more assists than goals.
He is their and League's best player. At this moment in that League he is complete player, and in my opinion more skilful than Lukaku.
But, at the other hand he is only 17. His further development will depend on various factors. I hope he will remain in Partizan for another two years and establish himself, before leaving to bigger club.
Wouldn't like to see him risk his carreer by going to big club too early where he could stagnate in his development.

He's got a great deal of pace from what I was able to see.

From Jessie description, is it me or does Markovic look quite similar with Piazon? I may be quite wrong though

I haven't seen either piazon or markovic enough times to draw a massive comparison but markovic I think plays more like kaka plays, a dribbler that plays behind a main striker that uses his pace to get past plays and makes good runs. piazon when I see him play rarely does the dribbles but instead starts as a striker and then drops deep when the wide players cut in and then acts as a link man between them and the midfield. piazon is all about the short neat passes, similar to mceachran in some ways.

thats just how I see it from the videos though since I haven't seen either in a full game yet.

jessie how does markovic compare to jovetic, they both from the same club and play in similar roles. there is also llaljic who is also highly rated and also played for partizan.

edit: on the talkchelsea forums, one of the mods is a really big fan too so they have a bit more info on him.

Lazar Marković is someone who joined Partizan's youth ranks because his brother who played at the club. He's born in Čačak and passed a trial some years ago at Partizan in order to be closer to his brother, as he missed him. This is a pacey player with a good set of skills, especially in terms of dribbling with the ball at his feet. He doesn't just dribble with the ball, Marković tries to play one-two's and combinates his way by using the man with the back to goal in order to get the ball and run at pace against the opponents. He played for Serbia in the U17 Euros this year and failed to impress, mostly because Serbia were playing a horrible system where the coach, a guy who played a 4-6-0 formation when the senior NT were trying to get points off Russia after losing 0-1 in the middle of Belgrade, doesn't know how you handle a team. The problem back then was that he simply didn't have enough support and he appeared naive as well as a player with solely "tunnel vision". That has not been the case when he's got the chance to play with better players at Partizan. He's a regular at the club and got himself a starting spot at the age of 17, plus he's often involved and has got a good goalscoring record so far. Partizan's coach, Aleksandar Stanojević, decided to play him closer to the strikers, much like Marco Reus is doing for Borussia Mönchengladbach to get more out of him as he saw the potential and benefit of doing so. It's been a straight forward success ever since and he's played there ever since he joined the first team in pre-season.

He's someone who isn't ready to play in the Premier League, obviously, since the Serbian league is full of corruption and the standard is horrible..but definitely someone who Partizan will go on and sell while making a good profit on him. He signed a new contract until 2014 last week.

Markovic is the guy who has made his debut this season and played only 13 matches. Football experts from Serbia call him the biggest talent ( potential ) amongst Serbian League debutants from the last decade ( Ljajić and Jovetić included).
He definitely has made more impact in his first matches he played for his club, than both Ljajić and Jovetić. He is more complete footballer ( like a debutant) . What I like the most is that he is hardworking and good team player.
I can't compare him with Piazon because I haven't watched Piazon live yet. I suppose Piazon has more ground to succeed simply becouse he is Brazilian, and they are tehnically gifted players.
However Serbia is not known for technicaly gifted and skillful players. That is why I am sceptic. I really need to watch him, at least for entire season, before I can draw any kind of conclusion. It's too early , as well for him.
He looks like great talent among players from Serbian League but he is only 17 and has lot of work to do, at least. And right decision to make .
Apparently scouts were watching him during Serbia derby between Partizan and Red star. He should go to a smaller club, and work on himself further.

Watched the video and he seems like a very fast and agile player with very snappy and quick movement,I think Jessie is right in saying that he should stay at his club for a year or two and then its a decision for our scouts to make whether he will be worth it or not.Looks like an interesting player, nevertheless.I also quite liked how is dribbling is simple and effective(well,at least in the Serbian League).

Yes it is.

As for Markovic, trust Zoric on this, I would say he needs another 1-2 years in Serbia before he moves. Which he undoubtedly will.
