I apologise if this is a duplicated topic, but I thought this guy would be a good talking point.

A mate of mine met Danny Sturridge's brother last night on the train, and he said that apparently Chelsea have been having negotiations under the radar for Lucas from Sau Paulo.

He's a 19 year old, Central Attacking Midfielder, got some pace and flair on him, reminds me of Joe Cole when he played for us.

He's got 10 caps for Brazil's first team and 1 international goal.

While he's not exactly to the standard of Modric or Kaka, he could quite possibly add to our Midfield quite nicely as a creative player with pace, and he's certainly going to be a huge talent in the future.

A big star in the making. He has everything: pace, skills, shot, vision...

I would be over the moon if we sign him.

There is a pre-existing thread. Please use the search facility or search manually to check before starting a new thread. It diminishes the discussion if multiple threads are ongoing because a part of the conversation will be 'missing'. It makes much more sense for people to know exactly where they should look if they want to talk about any given topic.

I will move the comments in this thread into the older one when I have a moment but for now I am locking this one. Meanwhile you might enjoying reading the older thread to gage other Chelsea fans' view on this player. Have a look, you'll find it soon enough. :)

ED: OK this is embarrassing. I've just searched and did not find a topic even though I felt sure there was one. Reopening this one for now even though I'm not sure that a a conversation with a brother counts as a qualifying link. There has been much discussion of this widely admired player. Search 'Lucas' in the Transfer Talk forum and you'll find it, perhaps in the Transfer Window thread.

Sorry for any inconvenience, searched through the first few pages and found nothing so I assumed it hadn't been created yet.

I agree, it's horrifically obscure and hardly evidence, but perhaps more reliable than some of the crap BBC Gossip loves to spout.

This can be easily discussed in the January Transfer Window thread. Hardly anything covered in media, so it's more of a rumor & little need for a new thread..

just a suggestion

Just, I know that you are lying, but, I will perform prayer to make sure that this materialises!

Hey, don't shoot the messenger, I'm going on my mate's word.

He also said Gary Cahill was a done deal already, which after today's report looks to be true.

It's far fetched I know, but it's an exciting prospect nonetheless.

This is the type of player I would love us to get. But the source is awful.

Well, that is nice to hear. He would be better adition in our midfield than Modrić. The guy is a fantastic prospect. The only problem is, even if we are in negotiations, he will probably end up in Real or Barcelona. I believe we are interested, tbf.

I kill messengers dead! Listen, everyone thought that Hiddink was gonna be announced as our manager, then one guy all of a sudden, said WOW, my mate just called me up and said Chelsea have secured Andre Villas-Boas... No one mentioned Boas, we all felt he wasn't interested in leaving Porto.. about 2 weeks later, that guys friend who worked at Chelsea that told his friend to bet on AvB becoming boss when he was soooo far out was as good as his word.

Fingers crossed. I've been banging on about Hazard, because a chink of light on it materialising came about.
I heard Lucas won't be moving in January, but, things change.. I'd really, really, really be happy with Lucas, especially to take over from Raul.

Torres

Mata--Lucas Moura----Ramires--Sturridge

Romeu

The Av-B 4-1-4-1 formation back in action.

I'm a big fan but I am a bit worried about his lack of consistency,if we get him we simply have to play him in a central position.I think for the first 1-2 years we will probably see an inconsistent Lucas with moments of brilliance thrown in here and there. He needs to play a little bit more intelligently but the talent is there to see, also physicality won't be much of a problem because he is very strong and hard to shake off the ball

That would be like the ultimate counter attacking line-up.

seen very little of him but heard alot about him, and he sounds as if he is going to a future star. Similar to Ganso. Only problem would be if we sign him to just let him rot on the bench for his first few years. That would really damage his development.

With our current performances do you think he will be left to rott on the bench?

I'm a big, big admirer of Ganso but Lucas is much the better of the two. I maintain that it's pure fantasy to imagine we might get Lucas but, if we did, there is no way in this universe that he would sit on our bench. It's far more likely that he'd suffer the opposite problem with AVB having to resist the temptation to over play him.
