With the **** fans that we have

So, did I lie? We're a very bad team these days, everybody in this world have to think the same. It's difficult we can attract top talents right now.

I don't think we should give up on this, but rather postpone the discussion about Hazard and wait until the season's over. We should get the 4th place, which is a must, and then we have at least the same chance as everyone else in the top 4 to get Hazard, if we're really interested. This summer is going to be crucial for AVB if he can get us to the CL next season and if he's still here. He has to buy the right players and if players like Hazard see that he's building a talented and attack-oriented team, then we'll attract those players, for sure.

One bad season won't harm Chelsea's reputation, we'll still be a better destination than Tottenham. It means nothing right now if Hazard or Redknapp say they're interested. What did Agüero say about Chelsea? And what did Wenger say about Mata? Right now Spurs fans are as happy as we were when we heard about those Agüero statements, so there's nothing to worry about.

What if Hazard comes here & describes to the hierarchy how he wants to play as a left winger, but the manager decides to play him at left back because there are no other alternatives & he's proved that he can do a job there. Should he be happy shut up, get on with it & just be happy he is playing?

Just asking.

Not sure if you are being serious even if you asked this as a rhetorical question....

It's hardly dodging a bullet. He made his decision clear but wasn't allowed to leave. How much better off would we be with Modric right now? How much worse off would Tottenham be? If we go as far, if not further than Spurs in the FA Cup and make the top four, what has Modric really gained? Won't be easy but there's a reason we're tied for fourth and not chasing Liverpool.

If Hazard is after maximum game time, I wouldn't write us off. He'd play every match he could at this club.

Well Modric himself already admitted to dodging a bullet thanks to Levy in the Croatian media. Besides there's nothing to suggest he would have changed our fortune significantly this season had he joined us last summer, we had still leak goals and get exposed with the high-line, Torres still wouldn't stop sulking, Cole and Bosignwa would still be a liability on both ends of the pitch, Sturridge would still be his selfish self, AVB wouldn't have become a tactical genius and motivational expert overnight . . . . our main problems would still exist but with a more creative midfield.

a midfield of romeu, modric and Lampard/ramires would be a very good combo, Lampard would be able to feed off balls better and not always come deep to start attacks. currently the midfield has zero drive through it because its not dynamic and taking forever to get the balls through congested midfields, with little in the way of movement and passing. modric might not change the full chelsea team but I think he would create a very different dynamic in the team. currently the midfield takes too many touches to get attacks started. chelsea used to rely very dominantly to start attacks from the left because stuff was so much more fluid with Lampard, Cole and malouda linking up perfectly but thats in the past.

Well, I disagree with some people here. I feel that if we got Modric instead of Meireles, things would be much better now for sure.
Without dominating midfield, and without creating chances, we can't be better and that's fact.

Would Spurs be prepared to shell out on that financial outlay? He would easily be their record signing and one of, if not, the top earner at the club.

Unless this is a change in tactic with Spurs seemingly getting the CL money next season?

Still, can't see him going there.

Yes. I believe they would. Redknapp confirmed they are discussing him. Spurs have been one of the top spenders in the EPL & I think they are only behind City & us in the last 5 years in terms of spending in the EPL. the fact that Hazard has priorities away from wages, means that Spurs are a very viable option.

As you may have alluded to, it was more Levy knocking Modric down than him dodging a bullet. However, I wasn't aware of Modric admitting to such a thing so I'll half take that back if you're able to provide a decent source (or something pointing me in the right direction).

I never said he'd have us six points clear at the top of the league. The implication was clear: that our midfield might not be so dysfunctional and uninspired (something I count as a main problem, how could you not?). Through that, we may have picked up a few more points where we've failed to do so.

With our problems so numerous, to whatever point they exist, I'd gladly accept having one less thing to worry about. Far from outlandish to claim it would've made our season less difficult. At the very least it's not going to make it harder by having fewer malfunctions/incompatibilities.

I too am interested to hear/see this "dodging a bullet" statement.

Pienaar spoke this morning saying that Modric is pivotal to Spurs & that without him as a quality team they'd implode as he is the most essential factor that makes the team play well.

If we're willing to spend they will come. The difficulty starts when we don't see eye to eye on wages... Its clear we're trying to get players here on more manageable salaries.

Hazard is still a possibility as is Moura, Willian, Jovetic, Cavani it will all come down to how much we're willing to spend and who is the first player to come aboard.

All I remember was daily fail writing an article that said Modric dodged a bullet. Nothing from him though... He seems like the type of player that is about wage increases and if we're willing to comply and finish 4th I can see him coming here too

Spurs rumoured to be willing to shell out the £35 million buyout clause to sign Hazard. Somehow can't see Bale being that happy about it. Not unless they plan on playing Hazard on the right side.
