  1. César Azpilicueta

Good point. I think Lahm and Azpilicueta both got the injury at very similar ages. Not that I'm saying he will definitely recover as well as Lahm has but it shows that it can be done.
  2. L'Equipe report says 550k euros per month which is about 135k euros a week, so it's more like £110k per month
  3. Official: Romelu Lukaku Joins Everton

I would guess the issue is a mental rather than "technical" one. I bet his first touch in training is remarkably better than it is during games (of which he has appeared in 8 for us, so it would be impossible for him to feel even remotely comfortable yet).
  4. But you can't provide service if he's standing out on the touchline or about 20 yards outside the box. I agree that we don't create enough chances, that much is obvious, but Torres' lack of goals came long before we were struggling to score even 1 goal per game.
  5. Ignoring the fact that your original point was that the board have failed to sign "Young players with their careers ahead of them that are capable of getting into the first team straight away", not about this "franchise" idea, I still think criticizing the club for not signing one of the top 5-10 players in the world is unfair. Unless you're playing on the Playstation (or are Real or Barcelona) then that simply isn't going to happen.
  6. This applies to Luiz, Ramires, Romeu and Mata no?
  7. Sorry MT you usually talk sense but this isn't fair. Being on a goal drought like the one Torres is on at the moment is a far more complex issue than him simply not trying. I think that people sometimes forget that these players are real people too and are therefore suspect to the crises of confidence that everyone in other walks of life can have. It doesn't matter how many hundreds of thousands a week we pay him, the fact is that every time he sets foot on the pitch his lack of goals (and overall performance) is weighing on his mind, which only serves to reinforce the problem. The problem isn't that he's lazy or his legs have gone or that he isn't getting good enough service or that he can't play in our system, it's purely a mental one.
  8. Then by your definiton Malouda scored 15 goals and made 15 assists in 2009/2010 and was our top scorer in the Prem last season mostly at his "average" level. That doesn't sound too bad to me.
  9. Yeah exactly like they did with Ramires and Luiz.
  10. Non Chelsea: Premier League

Nah it's got to be a Spurs win surely?
  11. I would imagine that this is due to his current lack of confidence. I'm sure as soon as he gets a few goals he'll be shooting from everywhere.
  12. Thanks for you're opinions. I wish half the Chelsea fans on here were as postive about their own team as you are about us.
  13. OFFICIAL - David Luiz Joins PSG.

Exactly. If the new signings gel into the squad pretty quickly and we can find some confidence from somewhere then we will be a force to be reckoned with in the 2nd half of the season. I'm happy that Luiz will be able to settle into the team gradually too. Obviously he should probably slot straight in at centre half and push Bran to RB, but it's nice to know that if he needs time to settle then we have Bosingwa (and Alex soon hopefully) who are more than capable of filling a space in the back four.
  14. OFFICIAL - David Luiz Joins PSG.

And it has been beneficial in our pursuit of them?
  15. OFFICIAL - David Luiz Joins PSG.

And this is a sign of them actually wanting to join us? Any player can say a few words about how great Chelsea, United, Barca, Real etc are when asked in an interview. I'd expect a professional footballer to respect the club he currently plays for until he signs a contract with another club (which is exactly what Luiz has done).
