  1. According to Simon Phillips on Twitter: ”Inter wanted a 2-year loan deal for Lukaku but those deals aren’t allowed anymore. So another year loan deal at the end of this one is likely, and that should then include a cheaper obligation/option to buy. There’s no way Lukaku will contemplate coming back to Chelsea.”

If someone who knows about football accounts can explain whether this is an acceptable loan deal for Lukaku, or are we just happy to be rid of? Important news about the negotiations between Chelsea and Inter for Romelu Lukaku. The London club sent their conditions for a paid loan for the Belgian striker, as Lukaku has requested to return to the Nerazzurri: 10 million euros plus bonuses tied to the amount wins, which is not guaranteed. Inter previously offered 5 million euros plus bonus, but they are ready to meet Chelsea's demands. Therefore, the conditions are set for Lukaku's return and it is possible that they are steps away from completion. The last hurdle for the transfer is Steven Zhang's consent, who has to approve the final push to conclude the negotiations with Chelsea. There are the foundations to reach a quick conclusion to bring back Lukaku without they counterweights. Chelsea growing in confidence over signing Raheem Sterling from Manchester City Chelsea are growing in confidence that they can complete a deal for Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling. Sterling, 27, is available for a cut-price fee this summer as he has only one year left to run on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, so could leave on a free in 12 months' time. It is understood that Sterling has been talking to people about what life is like at Chelsea and what Thomas Tuchel is like as a manager, and one source at the club believes the only stumbling block to a deal being completed is the size of the fee. Sterling, who moved to London from Jamaica at the age of five, has been at Manchester City for the past seven years. Goals were an issue for Chelsea last season and Sterling has proved himself in that regard at City, scoring 131 goals in 339 appearances for the reigning Premier League champions. He joined City from Liverpool for an initial £44 million in July 2015 and has gone on to win four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and three League Cups. Erling Haaland's arrival, plus the form of the likes of Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez, has meant there will be fierce competition for places in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI next season. Gabriel Jesus could also depart the club with Arsenal making the Brazilian their No 1 striker target. Sterling, who can play out wide and through the middle as a false nine, could help fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea if the forward seals a return to former side Inter Milan. The Athletic reported earlier this week that talks between Inter and Chelsea are continuing with an improved offer anticipated after the Italian side's initial approach was turned down. A loan deal that would enable Lukaku to rejoin Inter is being negotiated, a year on from the £97.5 million switch which took the Belgium striker to Stamford Bridge for the second time in his career. Inter are ready to cover the whole salary they agreed with Lukaku and having seen a proposed fee of about €5 million rejected by Chelsea, they are expected to reach a figure that would be acceptable. https://theathletic.com/news/chelsea-raheem-sterling-manchester-city/H6hDg4POdAmo/

Lukaku latest…(paywall removed) Chelsea open talks over Romelu Lukaku's loan return to Inter Milan Inter Milan have officially opened talks with Chelsea over a deal to re-sign Romelu Lukaku on loan, which the Italian club hope could be agreed by the end of the week. Telegraph Sport understands that Inter held talks with Chelsea’s new co-owner Todd Boehly for the first time on Wednesday, with representatives of Lukaku also present on the call. None of the parties have commented, but it is believed that the talks were positive and there is willingness on all sides to reach an agreement that suits all parties following the first round of discussions. Lukaku is aware that he will have to take a wage cut to help facilitate his return on loan, while Chelsea will also have to cover part of the striker’s salary. Further talks will now centre on the exact terms of a loan fee and whether or not Inter will allow any players to move in the opposite direction as part of Lukaku’s return to Italy. While a deal may not be officially concluded by the end of the week, Chelsea and Inter are keen to agree on the terms of the move by then with the aim of completing it as quickly as possible. Since taking control of the club alongside Clearlake Capital, Boehly has been convinced that allowing Lukaku, who cost Chelsea a club record £97.5 million last summer, to return to Inter represents the best course of action. Head coach Thomas Tuchel is understood to be in agreement and allowing Lukaku to leave will help Chelsea focus their attention on the attackers the club want to sign. Tuchel has been promised that he will lead the club’s transfer business this summer and Chelsea face the task of trying to add goals and assists to his squad. Raheem Sterling, who has now finished his international duty with England, Ousmane Dembélé and Christopher Nkunku are all among the club’s attacking targets, while Arsenal target Gabriel Jesus has been offered to Chelsea. Telegraph Sport revealed last week that Boehly was taking a hands-on approach to Lukaku’s future and that his existing relationship with Roc Nation Sports International, who look after the Belgian’s commercial affairs, will be key. Boehly has worked closely with Michael Yormark, the president of Roc Nation International, on a number of projects in the United States. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/06/15/chelsea-open-talks-romelu-lukakus-loan-return-inter-milan/

I think with five subs allowed next season we’re going to see a lot of rotation. It’s going to be more of a squad game. It could even be that we play Havertz as a nine and upgrade to Jesus and Dembele at the expense of Ziyech and Werner. But I think if the opportunity came to bring in Lewandowski, Martinez or Nkunku I reckon we might consider it.
  15. Transfer Talk Topic

It would be odd if Inter were to sell/swap Martinez in order to bring back Lukaku though. I think that’s just wishful thinking on our part. More likely they want to go with a line up that includes Dybala, Martinez and Lukaku. I agree that if Lukaku is gone we’re going to need an out and out striker. I think Dembele and Jesus are intended as upgrades to Werner and Ziyech so that still leaves room for a no. 9. I’d be really interested to know who we’re looking at as I think it’s crucial we find someone who can finish. It’ll raise us to the next level. Or at least keep us hanging on to the coat tails of City and Liverpool who’ve managed to sign two of the best strikers on the market.

Well according to the latest rumours Dembele looks closest to a deal. We’re also being linked with Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Nkunku. As well as Jonathan David and Darwin Nunez. There was also a rumour doing the rounds that we will listen to offers for Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic. As well as offloading Lukaku. Crazy times.

Given how tight a budget of 200m actually is given the amount of rebuilding needed, we’re going to have to be creative. I think sorting out the defence is going to be fairly straightforward as we’ve got plenty of vacancies and there are lots of good options out there including Kounde, Koulibaly, Perisic. Of those only Kounde would command a fee. We can also bring in Colwill and Ampadu from the academy. Midfield would likely be recalling Gallagher, Gilmour and a big slice of our budget going on Rice with Jorginho sadly leaving. It’s upfront where the real problems are. It’s going to be very hard to move on Werner or Lukaku given the huge wages they’re on. Which makes it more likely we’ll offload Ziyech or Broja as they’re the only realistic options. We can bring in Nkunku as our other major signing and Dembele on a free. So my transfer suggestions are: DEFENCE Kounde 60m Koulibaly Free Perisic Free Back from Loan: Colwill Ampadu MIDFIELD Rice 100m Back from Loan: Gilmour Gallagher FORWARDS Dembele Free Nkunku 60m. Total spend 220m. We’d get some fees selling on Alonso, Jorginho, Ziyech and Broja for maybe 70m. So total spend would be around 150m. We could also sell Kepa for a decent fee and bring in a back up to Mendy for a tidy profit.
