Tonight's results might just doom Utd to miss top four this season, the Europa league takes it toll.

From listening to what Demba Ba had to say about the 4th official, the "racial slur" was to say "the black guy" amongst the Istanbul coaching staff when pointing out who should get the yellow card.

I've just googled their coaching staff....

Just watched the footage and you could clearly hear him say that word in Romanian.

What an idiot, he's definitely flushed his career down the toilet.

What word did he say? Demba Ba said he said "black" to clarify which person.

The fourth official said "that black guy" twice in Romanian. I think it's best you look up the translation for the word black in Romanian online because I don't want to risk gettting heat on here Ham.

This would make the Romanian language itself racist;

This is very different from the Suarez incident because he used the word in a demeaning way.

I do agree with you Ham, unlike Suarez I don't think he meant it with Malice but still things are not in a good way as it stands and unfortunately this adds more fuel to the fire.

Honestly thought Demba was going to lay him out.

I also couldn't believe how arrogant the ref was when he just brandished the red before asking why Webo was so upset but he probably heard it too in his ear piece.

This is a real own goal for UEFA.

Black in spanish? Negro.

Black in Romanian? Negru.

Why English speakers automatically assume it's racisism is beyond me. It is not the equavalent of saying the n-word in English. It's how you say black in their language ffs. You cannot describe someone as a racist just because they speak their language.

I struggle with it too in the descriptive sense, different if it was intended as an insult.

I get the feeling some get too easily offended, as I was told when growing up:

'Sticks and stones may break your bones yet names will never hurt you.'
