It's been quite clear that Conte is chasing a ball-playing central defender, you only have to look as far as the players we've chased and been linked with to see the connection. There's the bigger picture to consider here and obtaining a good quality ball-playing centre back opens us up to play more like Conte desires. It means the 4-2-4 becomes more effective as the CB offers another passer, while being able to step into midfield. It makes a 3-5-2 another option down the track with a few more additional pieces. You only need to have see Conte's teams to know the huge advantage and difference having this sort of CB offers and why he's not settling for just any old player. Just when everyone says the club knows what they are doing. At worst please dont bid 50M and take him back. That will make us the biggest joke of a club. Let the transfer window close already.
