The day after we were drawn to play Atletico in the Last 16, we lost 2-1 against Wolves, the 2nd game of the run that got Lampard sacked

At that stage of the season we had conceded 14 goals in 13 league games

Atletico had conceded 4 in 11 league games

We would end up conceding only 4 goals in 13 games in our whole CL run (2 in the group stage, 2 in the knockouts)

Correct, and with the twist of coaches appointed halfway through the season, whereas the PL have been won in a coaches first season "with the exception of JM MkII who did it in season 2"

There was that 40 minute spell when Big Sam saw right through us. Bonkers.

That air kick where he swiped his foot under a cross, he did an identical one about a couple of  weeks earlier. Was it at the FA final? I could try that 100 times and couldn't repeat it. That said, the guy ran his socks off on Saturday. He was instrumental to our strategy. If only he could put some shooting boots on.

If we can win CL with Werner playing like that. Let's give him a contract for life.

It genuinely is. Not just because it's us. It really is a proper powerful lift. Too many don't feel that epic, but this truly was, can tell Azpi has wanted this one since day one.
