Another day, another final for Tommy Tuchel. Hopefully, he can be over there for this match, I think that will help give the players a little lift and up performances. I think the biggest decision Tuchel might have is whether he gives Kepa the final or he brings Mendy back in... from a man-management point of view, it's a tricky one, but I think you have to go for your strongest 11 and that is Mendy.

I would play:

Mendy

Christensen - Silva - Rudiger

Azpi - Kante - Kovacic - Alonso

Ziyech - Havertz - Mount

However, we all know the big lump will start up front again.

Looking around at reports of Palmeiras as I don't know much about them, and came across a report of a fight between fans in January 2021 between Corinthians and Palmeiras:

'According to the police report, 26 iron bars, eleven wooden clubs and three medium-range explosives were confiscated from the fans who were arrested.'

Blimey.

I'd like more pace in that front 3........ For me, we need to play one of (as frustrating as they all can be) Werner, CHO or Pulisic, as at least they stretch defences.

I'd don't think Mount and Ziyech work as a pair of wide men as they both come deep for the ball, rather than running the other way.

If anyone here knows much about Palmeiras or has a link, I would be grateful.

The club's official mascots are a green parakeet, named Periquito, and a pig, named Gobatto. In 1986, at the Campeonato Paulista playoffs, supporters adopted the pig like their mascot. Although the parakeet is the official mascot, fans will refer to and yell: "PORCO!" (Pig) enthusiastically during matches, as the pig became their preferred mascot. On November 6, 2016, Palmeiras incorporated the pig as one of the official mascots of the club.

Final should be a riot.

I am expecting Palmeiras to be very physical and motivated. thats exactly how Corinthians were in 2012 and we struggled with it. I would expect a better performance from us that yesterday but I dont expect it to be an easy match at all.

Before any football comments I have to say how staggered/bemused I am to read "three medium-range explosives"... that they were designated as medium implies that other categories of explosives are in the range of reporting and needed defining!.....and I thought the 70's were a little bit "uneasy" at grounds!....saw a few silly things but never a hand held nuclear rocket or a lesser powered hand grenade! (except maybe at Elland Road...needed to meet fire with fire....then there were the fans.)

Why are we in this "tournament" at this time of the season with the match congestation as it is?....not questioning so much the concept but the timing.

I am always aware of two far apart "non-games"...the one that basically finished Shellitto's career and the one that probably finished RLC.

Why?
