Sorry, Ziyech is the last person needed.  Pace and urgency is required down the flanks not someone who’s becoming a one trick pony of cutting in from the right on to his left foot.

Can have all the pace of Werner, but if the gaps aren't in behind for him to run into, then it's pointless.

Pace is required, don't get me wrong, but this tie could hinge on that one pass that someone like Ziyech can play or maybe James.

If our second half of the 1st leg is any indication, Tuchel could and should match them with a 433 to contain Vinny’s pace with James at RB (no wingbacks needed). if we control Vinny our CBs can stick closer to Benzema. They have no other threats.

On the flip side we can start Kai, Werner (unmatched pace) and Ziyech or Pulisic as the 3 forwards and supported with a middle trio of Kante, Kovacic and Mount (yes at CM).

Mendy

James Silva Rudy Alonso

Mount Kante Kovacic

ziyech Haveryz Werner.

Even though we’re only down 0-2 (thanks to abolition of away goals), we have to go for it and keep them uncomfortable all game long with our favorable mismatches

If we make them feel uncomfortable from minute 1 the game will swing towards us quite quickly if we can get an early goal. It always happens in these CL games. Momentum shifts make 2/3 goal leads look like nothing, it's different to the way things are in domestic cup games and league games. Plus Madrid will be confused and not know whether to go at us or park the bus and I don't think they will park a very good bus.

What Madrid did to us in the 1st leg or to PSG last round, can be a taste of their own medicine. It's only 2 goals with a whole 90 minutes to play. It's nothing. We ended the 2nd leg promisingly just need to start on that kind of note.

Wouldn't be going with a back four myself, it increases the workload on Thiago Silva and does more to expose his lack of leg speed. Plus, Ruidger being as aggressive as he is can at times leaves gaps himself. I also wouldn't trust Kante playing that holding role where he actually has to be disciplined positionally and not ball chase.

Start with the usual 343 or 352 and change later if needed imo.

On the plus side, no Ross Barkley or Lukaku 😉

I've heard that we're doing all our training at Cobham (no final session at the Bernabéu as is traditional) and flying out tomorrow as Tuchel doesn't want to show his hand. Is he going to spring a surprise, or is this a double bluff?

Not sure that’s a good thing. Playing at the Bernabeu will be a first for most players - would have been good to get a feel for the place
