Droy was my hero Report post Posted September 10, 2013 Yes - brilliant - if only that had been a footballer famous for his technique...Anyone seen this?http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/sep/09/clarke-carlisle-blasts-anton-rio-ferdinandClarke Carlisle, btw, is one of the genuine people in football. Highly intelligent and deserves a lof of respect.
thevelourfog Report post Posted September 10, 2013 http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/sep/09/clarke-carlisle-blasts-anton-rio-ferdinandClarke Carlisle, btw, is one of the genuine people in football. Highly intelligent and deserves a lof of respect.Carlisle is an odd one for me- that doc he did for the BBC was lukewarm and he didn't appear to have much to say against either Ferdinand when the world was listening. He was conspicuously absent from the press when Mikel was being banned for reacting to (for all intents) being racially abused.Perhaps I should be more forgiving- it's not his fault that he doesn't have a mic shoved in his face when the people holding it aren't sure what he'll say. Perhaps he did have strong, sensible opinions on those things and people specifically chose not to ask. He's certainly always come across as very honest and genuine though. Droy was my hero Report post Posted September 12, 2013 One of the missing articles is Khobar berating Carlisle - partly (but not purely) because Khobar is better than Carlisle on Countdown. My response couldn't be posted and the site went down - but I saved it anywayBut he is also (retiring) Chairman of the FA - and you don't get many idiots taking that role.Previous chairman:Jimmy GuthrieJimmy HillGordon TaylorBrian MarwoodDerek DouganGarth CrooksPat NevinBarry HorneNick CusackDean HoldsworthChris PowellCrooks apart, that is a pretty respectable line up.In anycase, the point is not that he has always been a sound man in the past, but that this man, with his background, has turned on the Ferdinand brothers publicly..PS - I hope you spotted the irony of Hugh Grant watching Countdown in About a Boy. It is not meant to be cool :)
