Agreed! What I don't enjoy, however, is paranoiac whining of the kind so richly exhibited in this thread.
  2. Gael Kakuta

Robben's right... this will probably be the most damaging effect of the Fifa decision.
  3. Gael Kakuta

In the statement on the official website they do NOT say they've done nothing wrong.
  4. Didier Drogba

Footballers should seriously melt down and call things an fing disgrace (in branded flipflops) more often. It would be soooo unbearable to just have them all as platitude-spouting sponsor-pleasing anodyne bores. Not Chelsea-specific, either - I never could hate Cantona back in the day for this reason. I love to see Didier's bonkers outbursts almost as much as I love to see him bossing around Arse's centrebacks.
  5. Ashley Cole

I saw someone get "papped" on Chiswick high road recently (I didn't recognise her). It was really, really, creepy - she was just walking along and with the man walking backwards in front of her, no more than ten feet away, snap snap snap. The weirdest thing about it was that neither person involved, photographer and "celeb", acknowledged the other while he was taking the pictures. She was just walking along as normal. My point! The whole concept of having your photo taken while doing normal unremarkable stuff must mess with your head. I wonder how used to it you get if it happens over and over again, maybe twice or three times a day, maybe more. Poor Ashley!
  6. Didier Drogba

Yes - and all of these traits are indulged in by English players too - and it's commented on less. What's "passion" in an Englishman is "attitude" in a foreigner.
  7. Michael Essien

    "come on United!"
  8. Didier Drogba

Does anyone know who he was shushing afterwards? I saw the game on TV, so it wasn't clear...
  9. Didier Drogba

That's kind of the annoying thing - he could go anywhere and still be brilliant. Same with Lampard...
  10. Didier Drogba

Kelsi, you could start a post about a jam sandwich and twist it round to make it about how much you hate Jose by the end! Which is perversely admirable in a way I suppose. It would be like making a wonderful new signing if we could persuade Drogba to stay...
  11. Salomon Kalou

You forgot the badge, James Prescott :)

Anyone with any lingering affection for 'bad santa' should read Broken Dreams by Tom Bower. Poisonous little man.
  13. Chelsea Finances Thread

Months? Try centuries! Unless you think all those Florentine merchants or whatever who bought up paintings in the Renaissance were all 'true art lovers', rather than a bunch of moneymen looking for something pretty to bling up their palazzo :)
  14. Didier Drogba

I think Hoenigstein actually said he earns £154k NET - even crazier! But he writes for the Süddeutsche Zeitung which is a) local to Munich and b) about as far away from a trashy tabloid as you can get. So I'd be inclined to believe him.

Juni, great email. Hopefully it'll get taken on board by Duncan Castles. Though the fact that Castles is still pumping Jose's mate for insider dirt on Chelsea months after he left makes me think it's a pretty distant hope. I don't really see what we're doing differently with our academy than what the saviours of football at Arsenal are - picking up talented teens and occasionally planting them at a satellite club on the continent to develop - but of course that was never going to be mentioned in the article.
