  1. Andre Schurrle

Same guys bought Hazard, Oscar and Mata too...
  2. Official: Chelsea Sack Di Matteo

There will be doubters that will say that he needs to take the glorified friendlies more seriously....
  3. Ryan Bertrand

I'm seeing various news reports that Ryan Bertrand has signed a new 5 year deal doubling his salary, despite being only 1 year into his 4 year contract. No official confirmation of this, but if it is true, then I'm really happy for this lad.
  4. Michael Essien

His transfer fee does not count towards FFP, but his wages are.
  5. When I first heard that we bought AVB, I was sceptical at first, but after reading his credentials I genuinely thought that he had the potential to take the club forward. Unfortunately this wasn't be the first time we brought in someone with great credentials in Europe only to see him spectacularly flop in England (hello Shevchenko). On hindsight, it was a bad move, but it didn't seem that way when we got him in. Sometimes you just have to take a punt and have some faith. The biggest joke, of course, is to see Spurs hiring someone who has already been a proven flop in England. Over a manager who has done a great job for them the past few seasons.

Why are you assuming things before finding out the reason?
  7. Ryan Bertrand

    1. Disagree that Sturridge is defensive 2. RDM has the right to make his own variations to the 'standard' 4-2-3-1 formation depending on what he sees from the opponents and the players he has available 3. It's worked well so far, 2x 2-0 wins 4. I'd presume Oscar can also play the role of the most defensive of the "3" when he is ready
  8. Official: Romelu Lukaku Joins Everton

    1. Ryan Bertrand doesn't qualify as Club Trained - he has not been eligible to play for us for 3 full seasons before hitting 22. Most of his time with us was spent out on loan. 2. Turnbull and Moses also qualify as our Association Trained players 3. U21s can only be B-listed after spending 2 consecutive years at the club without going on loan. If Lukaku spent this year with us, he can be B-listed for 2013-2014 season, then Club Trained for 2014 onwards where he would be over 21. As of now having gone on loan there is no way he can be B-listed or Club-Trained anymore
  9. Ryan Bertrand

I think much of the credit has to go to Roberto di Matteo. Ryan Bertrand is supposedly not as good as several of the players that he has kept on the bench - Essien, Oscar, Ramires and others. However, it is obvious that di Matteo has a good game plan in mind, and Bertrand is the best player to fit a particular role that is needed in his game plan, and he chose to play Bertrand instead of shoe-horning a technically superior player into that role. Although on paper, di Matteo is supposedly playing a 4-2-3-1, he doesn't exactly use 3 attacking players in the "3". One of the three (so far it's been Ramires or Bertrand) is given a more defensive role, and who this is depends on the makeup of the opposition team. Bertrand was chosen against Wigan and Newcastle to give us extra protection against what has been identified as their most dangerous players - Right Wingers Victor Moses and Hatem Ben Arfa. It's a sound strategy and has so far given us the right results.
  10. Official: Romelu Lukaku Joins Everton

Well, he will still be counted as Association Trained, but we don't have problems with fulfilling our Association Trained quota, we really wanted him to fill a Club Trained slot, something which we are SERIOUSLY lacking in. I believe the club have been trying to do the right thing, getting Lukaku to stay to fulfil the Club Trained requirements. Unfortunately Lukaku forced his own loan move with those stupid comments in his interviews. For better or for worse, we are a club that usually give in to player demands to keep them happy, so...
  11. Eden Hazard

http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/afdeveloping/techdevp/fwc%5fitaly%5f1990%5fa%5fpart6%5f273.pdf "Where goals resulting from penalties are concerned, the player who is fouled in the area receives an assist point (unless, that is, the player who is fouled subsequently executes the penalty himself)."
  12. Eden Hazard

FIFA does count penalties won as assists, not sure about the FA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assist_%28football%29 "4. After goals scored on penalty or by a directly converted free-kick the fouled player received a point."
  13. César Azpilicueta

I'm not sure why being compared to Zhirkov has to be a negative thing. I thought Zhirkov was a very good player and a great addition to our squad. The problem is, he's got Ashley Cole in front of him, and unfortunately for Zhirkov he just wasn't as good as Ashley Cole, yet he was too good to sit on the bench for most of the season, so he had to leave. I think Azpilicueta would be a valuable player for us and will do us a great job when he comes on. But if Ivanovic continues on his fine form and forces Azpilicueta to be perpetually on the bench, we'll have to see if he can remain content. Especially since he's been expected to break into the Spanish senior squad
  14. César Azpilicueta

Is it just me or does he look similar to Matt Damon / Michael Ballack. Good luck and welcome to the club... My gut feeling tells me that this may end up like another Zhirkov... hope I'm wrong.
  15. Victor Moses (On Loan: 2013-2014)

I think you are on to something. While there are many people calling for a 'real' winger to play on the right side of the 3 instead of Ramires, I think it is obvious from the fact that Bertrand played against Wigan that RDM has other ideas. He wants one of the two wingers to be the more defensive to help out with the defense while having the pace to transition quickly into the attack. Which does make a lot of sense, considering we had issues last season when we played Mata and Sturridge in the wings, both of whom are not the tracking back types.
