What's the situation in Australia now Michael with Coronavirus?

Pretty much everything has opened up, or is about to. The governments (both state and federal) acted swiftly and decisively, and movements into the country, and between states were slowed to a trickle, if not ended completely. I think that the total number if deaths was restricted to around 100, and most of those came off cruise ships, I believe. Now of course,  that doesn't mean that businesses didn't suffer, or that retail stores didn't close. They did - many permanently (I guess we'll see later how many the numbers actually are). There is significant unemployment of course, and I guess we'll see over the coming months how that is absorbed.

The government has provided much needed financial support to businesses, families and individuals to get them through. Of course, that financial support means that government debt has gone through the roof. Where that leads us to down the line, is anybody's guess.

None of which says that there won't/can't be a second wave, of course.

  2. Just a couple of days now until the rugby league (NRL) season restarts here. The AFL (Aussie Rules) will restart a couple of weeks after that. Both codes (particularly NRL) have a lot more physical contact that football, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

For example a squad of 25 players trained yesterday. One tested positive. Do we know for 100% certainly that the other 24 haven't caught it off that player but its too early to show up?

The players trained in groups of 5, I'm pretty sure. And from training I believe that they went their separate ways home. Can't see that there's a likelihood of widespread infection among the total playing group, tbh.

A sex worker going to a males apartment well-knowing who he is will have a hard time convincing the court she wasn't there to have sex.

I doubt that she'd be trying to. She might have better luck though convincing them that she'd changed her mind. Which is where I came in.

    This smells like a stitch-up.

It may be. But since neither of us were there..........

If she’s an escort going there to have “fun”, I can’t see how the rape allegation will fly.

It doesn't really matter whether she's an 'escort', or not. A woman is entitled to change her mind and say 'no'. And if that's her decision (for whatever reason), then the male (any male) has to accept that decision. Obviously, I don't know that this is what happened, but if it is, then that's how the rape allegations will 'fly'.

This scramble to get "something done" is unseemly and truly dangerous...it's "done"..let it go ...no way that we can go back and "finalise" the season etc....just stop and look forward not backwards. Bit like the break up with a partner or boy/girl friend..once the realisation sets in that it really is over it's possible to move forward.

I don't think that it is tbh. The various leagues (including the PL) will ge back into the swing of things, sooner, rather than later imo. They have to because there's too much money at stake if they don't. And the leagues and clubs live off that money. The Bundesliga has already announced that it's close to getting back to playing, and I'm pretty sure that La Liga and Serie A won't be far behind.

Which is nice enough, but what about Rahman, Zappacosta, Bakayoko, Miazga, D Sterling, Drinkwater, Pasalic, Pantic, Nathan, Izzie Brown, Moses, Kenedy, Musonda and Piazon?
Who pays their wages this season and next?

Blindingly obvious  answer as you well know: We do. Unless we sell any of them, or their contracts run down and they leave.

The wonderful Gary Cahill and I don't care what anyone else says, very shabbily treated in his last season.  So glad I was at the Crystal Palace match to see him get the richly deserved show of appreciation from us Chelsea supporters.

Terrific read, Jane. Really enjoyed it - thanks for posting. And yes, he was shabbily treated by Sarri, which is a real shame.

I think some propagandist saw you lot coming

As far as I can tell, there's only one 'propagandist' on here regarding China or Russia, and that's you. Had enough, and I advise you to stop it  now, while you still can.

The eating of the animals isn't the issue. What is it with you and Comrade Droy?

It's the boiling dogs alive in oil and skinning dogs alive that's the effing issue.

Pure unnecessary evil for the sake of it.

    Well said.

Just tried to contact Sky to pause my Sports package.

"The call waiting time to pause accounts is in excess of one hour"

"The call waiting time to add to your package is 30 minutes"

Probably not a huge surprise. Isn't the majority ownership of Sky, Murdoch's News Corporation?

Many people talking about the options for ending this season, however do we really think we are going to be in any position to start next season?

Surely the most obvious  approach is to play all games, in all leagues, in empty stadiums, with everyone watching on tv? Test the players/officials, sure, and exclude any who test positive. But I can't really see why competitions should be ended early, and trophies not won, or lost.

I’d willingly give the balance of my season tickets money up to see this season wiped off the records and declared null and void.

    Wouldn’t it be wonderful.

Not going to happen though, is it? If they shorten the PL season, Liverpool, would simply be declared the winners as it stands.

Every other topic was busy discussing, er Billy Gilmour.

Not my problem, even if true (which I seriously doubt). Always an excuse from you though (valid or not). My advice would be to move on, and in future when you post, try to stay on-topic.
