today was absolutely shite from all concerned.  Not one player over 5 out of 10. I can watch us lose after dominating and think we were unlucky. I can live with that but today was a low.

This. No excuses, we were dire.

If you haven't seen the game I'd leave it like that.

Sadly I decided to to watch the game (on here in the middle of the night), and it simply went from bad to worse. They looked clueless and you just knew that Bournemouth would find a goal somehow, which of course they did.

  3. Our back4 looked like they'd been drawn out of a hat, and were a bloody shambles, culpable for all 3 goals. Keppa The Keeper was dodgy, too. Our front 3 were simply ineffective, and rarely created a threat.

They all worked hard, but in reality, this was a desperately poor performance. Frank has  loads of work to do, and Marina should be kept busy in January.

Cmon, that header chance at the end was a superb save? There wasn’t a lot of power on that header and it was pretty far out.

Plenty here can find reasons to bag the guy, but always fail to give praise where it's due. If you thought that was an easy save, then good for you. We agree to disagree.

He came off his line for more crosses in the 2nd half which was the biggest positive I thought.

And how many of his regular, most strident critics gave him any credit for that?

He should have come out and punched that. Even if he misses he still looks better than standing on his line looking shocked that the ball has gone in the net.

If he came out and missed the ball,  he wouldn't 'look better', he'd look stupid, and then he'd be crucified by all the goal-keeping experts we have on here.

By the way, did you mention the superb save he made near the end of the game that guaranteed the 3 points? No, thought not.

    Because Everton are crap mate.

Ok. But he still has more than 4 years to go on his 5 year contract, and they were probably a bit crap when he signed that, so what's new? Also, I can't understand  why Everton would even entertain an offer.

Frank has a helluva job to do but he's doing ok. There's so much to sort out.

Yes, he is. IF we get our January transfer ban overturned, and can bring in a couple of quality players, and show the door to a few, then I'm very positive about the second half of the season.

  11. Frank Lampard knew there would be tough moments in the Premier League this season, and wants to see his team react to defeat against West Ham United in the right way in our next match against Aston Villa.

Despite being in control for most of the game against the Hammers, we suffered a 1-0 loss as the visitors made the most of their few chances and we struggled to break down a stubborn defence at the other end. However, Lampard knew that games like this would come around sooner or later, given the strength of teams throughout the Premier League.

‘Shocked isn’t the word,’ he said. ‘I think the Premier League is what it is, no game is easy or given to you. I’m disappointed with it rather than shocked.

‘Generally, collectively, we can handle that game better, and I think that is part of the process. I don’t think this will be the worst thing for us, as long as we react in the right way, because I keep hearing positive great stories about us over the last six or eight weeks. I always try to close my ears to them because I don’t like them because I understand what this league is and the fight that we’re in over the course of the season and there will be moments like this.

‘We were never going to come through a season as invincibles or anything, it just was not going to be the way, so when these moments come they’re little tests for all of us and we have to pass those tests.

Frank didn’t feel the changes to the team after the midweek match in Valencia affected the result

'Tammy was enforced and he’s been going well, but at the same time I have to think about the squad and about the course of the season. When we have a very taxing game where we give everything physically, arrive back late, I have to think about how fresh we can be for the game ahead.

‘It also gives me a look at how we are generally, because we’re not going to get through the season with the same 11 players, so those are the things for me to look at. I think the team we had out there for sure had the quality to go out there and win this game. The fact we performed below par is the reason that we didn’t.

‘I do believe in the squad and I think we’ve shown some great stuff this season. I’ve not had to say many times we were below par. Hardly at all, even when we didn’t get what we want, but today was one of those days. So I don’t think this is any time for harsh reactions and judgements across individuals or the team. It’s time for a look at a bit character, to see how our reaction is for Aston Villa.’

He has identified the need for more creativity in the final third

'We were below par in many parts of our game, it’s not one, but we didn’t do enough in the final third. That’s been a little bit of the story in our last three games. They were different, with Man City we got in the final third a lot and didn’t do quite enough with our choice of pass or cross or shot, similar to Valencia.

‘Today we didn’t get in there quite as much, but we need to be more inventive and generally we have been this season. My gripe this season has been more that we’re not converting enough of the chances that we’re making. Today wasn’t quite that, we didn’t quite create enough.’

    Can't be bothered MT.

I'll trust my eyes.  Kepa is a poor keeper for £70m. To disagree is just being contrary for the sake of it.

Of course, had  you actually bothered to read my posts, you'd know where I stand on that issue. But you didn't, so you're left to throw a few (predictable) cheap shots in my direction. My hero. Now, I'm done with this nonsense.

So you're going to make me search through your posts rather than answer?

Yes. Is actually doing that beneath you? It's what everybody else does.

    How very Droy of you.

    If you say so.

My opinion is that he's a very poor keeper for £70+ million and getting worse.

Good for you.  Everybody is entitled to their own opinions on here, just the same as people are entitled to disagree with them.

I take from that statement that Frank is concerned. Key phrases:

    ...is striving to be better

.....he will want to get better

....he is the first one to say he can do better.

Thats a lot of " betters" in one short statement.

You conveniently forgot to include the " That's football at the top level, and I'm happy with his work ethic" bit. Never mind, fixed now.

  16. Frank's opinion:

‘I’m happy. I know Kepa as a professional is a keeper who – and you can see it in his attitude and how he trains every day - is striving to be better, as he should do at his age and the status that he’s at.

‘He will want to get better all the time, and there have been a few instances this season where he would be the first one to say he can do better. That’s football at the top level, but I’m happy with him and his work ethic.’

Time to use the squad here I think

Will be surprised if Frank sees it any different. Although he will be keen for a win.

some doubts on Tammy so looks good opportunity for Giroud.

    Or, indeed, Batshuayi.

    Quote

Tomori, Emerson, Mount all to start too.

    Sounds about right............:)

How can he anticipate a miss hit cross? Was a fluke, nothing more,  nothing less.

This. People are looking for reasons to criticise Kepa, and it's as simple as that. He's not perfect, as we all know, but the constant bagging  is just disheartening.
