  1. No, but 70% of Torres' goals under Benitez came from Hollywood passing. Some of the change was in evidence against City, with players already looking to pass a lot earlier and a lot longer.
  2. Non Chelsea: Premier League

The QPR job that's gone you mean?
  3. Ashley Cole

It's in the shitter and it's staying there. Look around. It means nothing to so many here it's actually quite depressing. Like some here I've been following the club for a very long time and I this is the worst I've known it for a very long time. However, as some posters here have already demonstrated, it's the new way and nobody at the club cares about anything but trophies. To see someone here who considers themselves a Chelsea supporter say it was actually quite shocking. I suspect, however, that says more about me than it does them. When supporting a football club means nothing without trophies, it's time to seriously consider one's own position.

No, it's about a stupid proposition that players are offered extensions to their contracts not on current levels of fitness and performance, or indeed what they bring to the team or the club, but how old they are.
  5. That looks like a worrying lack of research to me. Cart before the horse. Only works so long as we put to one side that one of the fundamental issues with Torres is that he hasn't been getting into the right positions in the first place.
  6. So it's taken two years for us to find out that Torres's knees are shot? Right-oh. I suppose it's come out now because the warranty ran out. Complete bollocks from start to finish.

    Petr Cech.

The telling thing for me was the bookies. First odds I saw on Benitez were odds-on at 1/2 and it quickly went out to 1/5 and stayed there. I even saw some bookies at 1/8. They knew, and as my old man says, you don't see bookies riding a bike.

That piece, incidentally, was published less then ten minutes after the announcement to Robbies sacking.

Seek out Lipton's piece and read between the lines. Robbie knew. Benitez knew.

At least we're establishing benchmarks: one month of bad football, regardless of the size of squad, the number of injuries or whether the team is in transition = sacked.

It's a very worrying day all round, to be frank. What with the Chelsea managerial merry-go-round almost rattling off its spigot, I've just found myself agreeing completely with not one, but two of RDC Williams' posts in one day. I need to start smoking again.

Oh come on! Read the paragraph following the one you've posted above and you'll see that it's justification for the prosaic kite-flying Dom Fifield had written in the first paragraph. Journalistic license.

You're that excited at the prospect of Rafa joining the club? Slightly worrying.
  15. Didn't stop you voting him MoTM though.

You don't need to be an employee, you just need not to swallow what you read without questioning it. Now, explain, where did I say it was great? I didn't, did I? It was, however, improving year on year and was NOWHERE near to be 'doing a Leeds'. Propagating myths makes you part of the problem.

Should make a few Luiz detractors happy though. He won't last five minutes in a zonal marking system.

And, zonal marking. Don't forget that.

Ironic that you talk about not getting sucked in, yet you're propagating another myth.

Blimey, what with me being told I have to be appreciative of everything Roman's done for me, and having to put up with people also telling me I must completely forget everything Benitez said about the club, the players and its fans, it's all making for a very interesting day. Revisionism is the new football support. Toxic is right.

Urban myth that seems to refuse to die a death. They're not close, they never were, and Avram has had no contact with Roman since getting the heave-ho.
  23. Official: Chelsea Sack Di Matteo

Just so long as you judge the success of a football club only by what's in the trophy cabinet.

Because they did a little bit of research into the new owner and worked out what he was all about. I don't think it's stupid. Bold, rash some might say, but that day the club changed completely for everyone. He didn't like the way he thought things were going to go. From his point of view the decision was spot on. The choice to start following a club isn't always ours, is it? Wasn't mine, I was seven at the time. The choice to stop always is.

And there were we are. The truth of the matter, laid bare for every Roman supporter here.
