  1. Transfer Talk Topic

But that's not really true, is it? While he has done the business at West Brom he is yet to do anything in a Chelsea shirt (not saying he can't). Ba also did well at Newcastle. Have a think about it, in all likelihood we were looking to offload Ba to another club, but it would appear Lukaku wasn't happy with being third choice. So instead we got a solid premier league loan for him were he will hopefully get a lot of game time, and kept Ba as third choice.

Definitely fair calls, but I always figured that Man U would be the last place Liverpool sold anyone, even more-so than Everton, regardless of whether they were in League two and Man U winning the Premier League. I just get the feeling that it will all end up with Suarez staying and everyone having a big love in before the next transfer window when it all starts again.
  3. Transfer Talk Topic

If they aren't selling to Arsenal then surely Liverpool won't sell to Man U unless they come up with something completely ridiculous. EDIT: I think even Suarez mentioned that he wasn't trying to engineer a move to a direct rival I.e. Man U
  4. Mark Schwarzer

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/players/profile.overview.html/mark-schwarzer I guess he isn't then, sorry. I read somewhere that because he had been around for 15 years, it made him homegrown. EDIT: http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/130709/chelsea-sign-mark-schwarzer-free-transfer-201312 mentions he is home grown.
  5. Mark Schwarzer

Yeah, he is homegrown which makes this signing all the better. He pretty much knows his place is cemented for the 2014 World Cup, and has said he will retire afterwards, so it really ticks all the boxes in regards to Courtois coming back next season. Great number 2!
  6. I love the way, when he is talking about Champions League semi finals, he says when 'we' lost against Barcelona with Guus Hiddink, when 'we' beat barcelona with Di Matteo. Cannot wait for next season
  7. The only problem with what your saying about Moyes is that if it were already a done deal, don't United have to announce it given their position on the New York Stock Exchange? I don't actually know, but that was the reasoning behind why they are announcing SAF''s retirement now rather than the end fo the season, isn't it? In saying that, if Mourinho was a done deal they would have to announce that as well no? Doing my head in with my own speculation, but I am getting worried now...
  8. Media / Press

My only problem is that it wasn't even a tackle, was it? Luiz had control of the ball and had actually passed it before the Basel player came in to tackle him... The resulting 'tackle' only came about after Luiz had followed through following his pass and the Basel player had come in late.
  9. Non Chelsea: Champions League

Anyone else know how close the premier league is to losing its 4 qualifying spots? I only ask because there was mention of it last year after some poor results from other teams, and certainly this year has been no better..

    great win!
  12. Non Chelsea: Champions League

    Kagawa has had a shocker..
  13. Frank Lampard Breaks Chelsea's All Time Scoring Record (#210)

Anyone else notice how the media are portraying Frank at the moment?? Hardly ever gets widespread credit, but now that Chelsea appear to not be offering him a contract he is receiving huge amounts of praise, everyone talking him up and portraying Chelsea as the villains... I agree we should be giving Frank another deal but it just astounds me how people from outside don't see this kind of stuff.
  14. Official: Torres Makes Milan Move Permanent

On the point about persisting with Torres: I completely agree that he has not performed at all well and feel he offers nothing to the first team. However, what would you rather Chelsea/the manager do? Ba cannot play three games in one week due to a supposed knee problem and the only other recognised striker we have at the moment is Torres. He is going to and will continue to start games as long as this is still the same situation. Add to this the fact that Torres is taking home in excess of 150k a week and it becomes extremely problematic for us to be rid of him/sign another top quality player while he is still on the books (keeping in mind FFP). The main problem revolves around issues when we first signed him, but of course hindsight is a wonderful thing... You might also say that we should have been rid of Torres instead of Sturridge but again, this would have been very difficult to do in January given Torres' wages and I also feel that Sturridge's and the clubs minds had been made up in the Summer about a move. The real problem is not that Roman is some fanboy who wants his toy to succeed, its that the board (which he is a part of) were not able to adequately provide cover in the event that Torres would flop. Again, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but given Torres' wages and relative worldwide appeal of course the club wanted him to succeed and tried to provide for that. He is persisted with now as a squad member, he is not an automatic starter, and will remain so until we can find someone silly enough to take him off our hands.
  15. Official: Torres Makes Milan Move Permanent

Honestly mate, he is applauding him as he is walking off, he could have and probably did do that for all the substitutions... Stop reading so much into such irrelevant things
  16. Official: Torres Makes Milan Move Permanent

@TorresTheBlue 4 goals in 2 games... When he starts banging them in regularly you can jump on your high horse... Has played well in recent weeks, lets hope it continues.
  17. Official: Torres Makes Milan Move Permanent

The thing is, I'm sure there are plenty of people within the club who are aware of Torres' problems and indeed know techniques to improve elements such as pace. The problem is, the workload required to do training as that above (in conjunction with current programs) would be far to great for a professional footballer let alone the supposedly injury prone Torres.. Personally, I think Torres has been avoiding such specific training due to past injuries, and that has contributed to his loss of pace, but also assisted in him potentially becoming fitter and better equipped to stand up to long seasons.
  18. This is beyond a joke, seriously unbelievable
  19. Official: Torres Makes Milan Move Permanent

I really think people need to take these things into context... First of all, I do agree that Torres really shouldn't talk to the media so much, however I think this one was to do with him going back to his "home" in Atletico. Secondly, his comments were made in the context of him not wanting to become one of the players who doesn't care. He had slowly found himself falling into that mentality and realised something needed to change. Again, I do agree that he shouldn't give the media so much ammunition, but they have spun it in ways that weren't intended when Fernando made the comment.
  20. Official: Torres Makes Milan Move Permanent

I've always tried to support the man but I think this comment hits the nail on the head..
  21. I personally didn't see this at all, and quite frankly felt that AVB's football was far less entertaining. Sure we had the odd exciting game like Arsenal and QPR where we went down to 9 men but surely that can be said of RDM as well... I really like the counter attacking, fast brand that RDM has attempted to employ
  22. Official: Eden Hazard Joins Real Madrid

    Link please :)
  23. Official: Eden Hazard Joins Real Madrid

You'd think they surely would have a definitive answer somewhere... been looking for a while and can't find anything
  24. Official: Eden Hazard Joins Real Madrid

Yeah, I also saw that and then others were saying that is what they use for fantasy football and not what the official rules state, but they weren't able to pull anything concrete out. So for now, looks like they do!
  25. Official: Eden Hazard Joins Real Madrid

Just wondering, do penalties count as assists? Have seen a lot of conflicting views on this.. Would be good to see something concrete not just yes or no ;)
