Thanks Bob, read this going into the channel tunnel and got fits of the giggles all the way home. Apologies to M25 and M40 drivers from Kent to Bucks.

I remember when Sky had it as an option, and it was sublime. Why did they remove it? We'll never know ...

I know, I know, Jane, no blame on you - just that my mind was seriously beginning to boggle!

"In the Aka Pygmy tribe from the northern Congo, fathers commonly offer their babies a nipple when mom is not available." See https://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=848843&page=1. Now can we get back on topic?

"Handsome little brute", as a chum of the late great George Melly is reported to have said. Unfortunately, by the late fifties "his erotic twitching turned from a bent-kneed shuffle, not so much a sexual courtship dance as a suggestion that he'd wet himself; and his material became soppier and soppier". (Revolt Into Style - 1970, George Melly).

They're not. They're fielding the England cricket team.

  13. Taking The Pee Out Of Liverpool (For Khobar)

Chap I work with is a fan of the dippers, and speaks like a Scouser (albeit technically Welsh), and his reaction to the result? Self deprecatory in the extreme. I attach his take on the current state of LFC. Might add that I've worked in Manchester, and the United fans were by and large irritating, but not that bad. However, the Citeh fans? Yeh, well ...

Depends on the manager, and what you mean by "too long". Think Ferguson. Think Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche. Then think Wenger. It's always easy to say "glad he's gone". It's more difficult to say "what if he'd stayed" when he's then successful elsewhere.

Point taken, Il Duce, I confess I got twitchy around Chinese New Year wondering what he was going to do next. Something in the middle would be welcome. A cross between the dignity of the lion of Judah and the inscrutability of the Sphinx, perhaps, but with the odd snarl thrown in for good measure whenever Jose is around?

Bob, you're unique .... however ..... at risk of doing a Daniel and entering the lion's den, frankly I rather like Conte and hope he stays. None of us has a clue what is the the mind of Roman A or his court, nor what Conte really means to do (probably just sabre rattling). I confess I'd prefer him to take a few risks with the press, and perhaps actually say something worthwhile - much as I loath Mourinho's outbursts, they are at least entertaining whereas the insights into Conte's opinions are pretty lacklustre. I'd also rather a return to crowd surfing (we'll never see Pellegrini do that - perish the thought) than the current dour performance in the dugout. And I'd certainly favour the sort of swashbuckling performance we got from the likes of Gianfranco, Didier and Costa than the anaemic performance we have seen of late (please shoot Morata, someone, it's the least he deserves - I'll forgive Giroud for the time being, at least he looks like he's trying). Except that the buccaneers had a defence that they could depend on. Hopefully that will change next year now that our defence is showing signs of coming together. Sort of. Oh, and a plan B which is more than just throwing a few assorted players on at the last moment like he did on Saturday. (I think I've just talked myself into ambivalence about the man.) Anyhow, looking on the bright side: at least we haven't got the living dead like the Arse or Emery (he'll always be Mandy in my mind - 'ooh, you are awful') like Spam, and neither Faria nor the FSW have been seen in the vicinity. Lets hope it stays that way.

Photo courtesy of the man in the next seat yesterday, a day that will live on in my memory - warm and sunny day, Hazard’s penalty, sad farewell(?) to Antonio, Jose’s generosity, and Wembley actually running out of beer. Yup, we drank the real ale bar dry. OK, it was gnat’s p***, but even so. Then leaving the ground with ‘you’re not special any more’ ringing in my ears to catch the train home without queueing and indeed being hustled onto it without a ticket. Made up for the iniquitous price of the match ticket. Just as well I qualify for a pensioners ticket for next time around.

At Wembley now, and there’s an atmosphere. If the vibe is to be believed, we can do this. COYMB!

Red heavily outnumbered by Blue on train form Wycombe to Wembley. COYMB!
  23. Official: Chelsea Part Ways With Antonio Conte

I think a nice chorus of "we want you to stay" is called for at Wembley. Don't want any chance of either of the above ...

First match this term that I've not watched. Couldn't-be-arsed probably more than hiding-behind-the-sofa-with-hands-over-eyes. What a state of affairs. Off to feed my gudgeons, newts and goldfish, and thus the heron. More interesting than watching another implosion, although that being said I've got a ticket for the FA Cup Final and just renewed my ST. I really must stay in more.
