  1. This sounds like the sort of thing that I had expected of JM, having made his views quite clear about the current youth set up.
  2. Salomon Kalou Roman scouting for Mutu replacement!
  3. Didier Drogba

Would Drogba actually prove to be a success at Chelsea?
  4. Ashley Cole

quote:Originally posted by Rob HobsonI was always gutted that Desailly never won the CL with us: he would have joined Seedorf as the only men to have won it with 3 different clubs. id="quote"> id="quote">I was too. And the fact that he never won the league either. Who knows - maybe one day he can come back as coach or manager and win both for us!!
  5. Didier Drogba

quote:Originally posted by basoleI met someone when I was in Holland in June this year, who happens to be a Feynoord fan and he told me that, Kalou is going to be the best signing for Chelsea. I dont know why he said this but in his opinion, Kalou is going to be a hit and a bargain given what we paid for him. He said that he could be like Henry.(Ofcourse I chose to believe him, because Cryuff & an Basten couldnt have been wrong about him getting Dutch citizenship). Now I dont know much about Kalou apart from the games I have seen him play and he didn't look anywhere near Henry. I however hope he gets a chance so that I can see why some people think he is going to be another world beater. id="quote"> id="quote">Lets hope that they are right. Who was Henry when he was 20? No one. Give him a chance! Henry wasnt exactly setting the world on fire for Juve before Wenger rescued him, and he took ages to settle in London (he was what - 23/24 when he finally started to become the player is today). In three or four years who knows how good Kalou could be! Back to the point of the thread - I cannot wait to see Shev playing, and I am glad that Drogba wont be able to infuriate me week in week out with some of his indifferent performances. I think Drogba will be much much better this season with the competition that there now is up front. Lets sit back and watch them bang them in for fun!!
  6. Ashley Cole

quote:Originally posted by rangersfc_chelseafcI think Ashley Cole is a great player going FORWARD,sometimes wary of his defensive skills,he linked up well with Joe during world cup at times and that could be an interesting factor. There is not many better than him thats for sure, one of the best in his position simply because the rest are pretty poor,Bobby Carlos over the hill also may I add. I agree with Robben from top thread Grosso looked superb. id="quote"> id="quote">That may be the case but I think - in part - that is the way in which Wenger has nurtured him. Under the guidance of JM, I reckon his defensive game would come on leaps and bounds and we would see him become the best left back in the world.
  7. Ashley Cole

I'm not saying Cole's crap defensively but the times I've seen him caught out of position because he's gone forward This last season Riise have improved more than I thought he ever could, and has benefitted from being told he's first choice left back and apart from once or twice, hasn't been asked to play left midfield Hope he continues to improve this coming season with Aurelio arriving should provide more competition for him id="quote"> id="quote">I know what you mean, but I can imagine Mourinho instilling a stronger sense of defensive discipline than Wenger who is more inclined to encourage players to attack! I think we would see Cole develop as a player were he to move to Chelsea (and indeed if you had the money Liverpool).
  8. Ashley Cole

quote:Originally posted by True-BlueHowdy. I think Ashley Cole would be a great addition to the team, maybe if we play three at the back - Terry, Gallas, Carvalho - and have two wing backs - Cole and ??????, 3 in midfield - Lamps, Ballack, Maka and two up front Sheva/Kalou/Drogs. id="quote"> id="quote">No Joe Cole or Robben? Both are on scinillating form at the moment. If we have wing backs, surely that negates the need for two strikers? I would be pretty scared (as an opponent) if I was facing a midfield of Maka with Lamps and Ballack running the centre of the park and Cole and Robben running up and down the flanks overlapping with their respective full-backs and with Sheva up front. pretty scary prospect.

Seeing how the Coles played together last night it would be amazing for both Chelsea and England. Would love to AC here...!! As Arsenal have now had their only stab at winning the Champions League, is there any reason for him to stay on and play at Cashburden Grove?!
  11. Chelsea Finances Thread

Carpe Diem. Thats what we as Chelsea fans have done. Roman arrived and we embraced him as one of our own. If it happens to Liverpool or any other club for that matter, I would urge you to do the same. Its not like the fans of Chelsea football club had any choice as to whether Roman bought the club or not, and so I am pretty happy sitting back and watch the big names roll in and the trophy room fill up.
  12. Michael Essien

If Essien can play as well as he did against Betis at SB week in week out, I will be a very happy man - sheer class in that match and unlucky not to score.
  13. Salomon Kalou

quote:Originally posted by exiledbluequote:Originally posted by BoogleWell its sounds like Cruyff and Van Basten rate him which can't be a bad thing! id="quote"> id="quote"> And thats the same Cruyff who spends his time attacking Chelsea's style of play and way of manageing and running the club isn't it....... Sure he knows alot! id="quote"> id="quote">For sure, but but I wouldnt have thought that they would have been so assertive in trying to get him naturalised as a Dutch citizen to play for them without good cause...?
  14. Salomon Kalou

Well its sounds like Cruyff and Van Basten rate him which can't be a bad thing!

quote:Originally posted by EstacheWell good stuff from Drogba innit? I still want to see Crespo upfront ahead of him though. id="quote"> id="quote">I agree to a certain extent. I think that there are certain games where Drogba's physical presence is required though. Crespo's movement is second to none in my humble opinion.
  17. Gianfranco Zola

quote:Originally posted by DazzGod I hate reading interviews like that, makes me sad that he's not still at our club. Such a shame that he lives in Italy, would be good to have him playing some part in the Chelsea set up. Absolute legend. id="quote"> id="quote">He will be back at some point I reckon. He wont be able to resist! I wish he was still playing!
  18. Didier Drogba

Does anyone find him an infuriating player? Benners - unforuntately Lineker is getting on a bit.
  19. Didier Drogba

quote:Originally posted by Harry Siderasquote:Originally posted by BoogleI am still not convinced by Drogba. He is far too hot and cold. One day he does something amazingly; the next he misses a sitter or miscontrols in an unforgiveable way. I still think he far too inconsistent although he has managed to score a few goals this season. id="quote"> id="quote"> Old question, but out of interest, as compared to who? id="quote"> id="quote">No one specifically. General observations. When he is hot he is a joy to watch, but there are times when his touch and close control just make me cringe. I guess all strikers are like that: fortunately he is doing better than v. Nostrilboy and Crouch. But as someone above rightly says its his inconsistency that prevents him from being truly world class (for now).

I am still not convinced by Drogba. He is far too hot and cold. One day he does something amazingly; the next he misses a sitter or miscontrols in an unforgiveable way. I still think he far too inconsistent although he has managed to score a few goals this season. Time will tell.
  21. Gianfranco Zola

This question should never be asked.
  22. Frank Arnesen

quote:Originally posted by scvFirst post so be kind! Am I missing something here but I thought that Arnesen's job at the Spuds and (CFC) was to find young talent and bring them to the club (Robben, Ronaldo, Van Horseface etc) so they wouldn't have to pay extortionate transfer fees. Therefore I don't see that our ability to attract or the Spuds inability to attract big name players is a valid excuse for him joining us. Perhaps the real reason is that he wants to join the best club on the planet. id="quote"> id="quote">I think what is meant by 'attract big name players' refers to the spotting of big name players whilst they are still young. Not that we bid for him, but for instance Fabregas at the Arse looks like a quality player who we apparently didn't know about. I guess what is meant is attracting players of his quality effectively before they hit the big time.
  23. Gianfranco Zola

Perhaps in this capacity he 'encourage' young Italian prospects that there is no better club to play for than... Chelsea?! Perhaps in a few years, having worked with Italy's young players, he can come back 'home' as youth team coach. Imagine a youth team with the professionalism of Zola!!
  24. Gianfranco Zola

    End of an era!!
  25. Frank Arnesen,00.html More on it here. The way this article reads, as Bluescruise says, gives me the impression that what the Spuds are doing is tantamount to blackmail. Also I agree with Ravin Mad. If Spuds really had a problem with this report us. Its ridiculous that another club can hold out to make £8m from this. Maybe we should go for the hearing (so long as we dont lose points) because if this article is right - that Spuds are seeking £8m compensation - it will be a lot cheaper!
