    Does the 200 figure in kids brought in for trials but not picked up, or just count the kids that have made it into the academy setup?

    id="quote">

    id="quote">

    It is 1 every 200 kids scouted. No, it is not 1 every 200 kids into the academy set-up. That would be a very poor labour turnover!

    More likely silver/platinum to be honest mate. Silver looks good.

    id="quote">

    Silver is a way of settling for 2nd place. We should be aiming for Gold to reflect our current status as the number one club in England.

    Is it just me or is the team coming together finally, but too late in the season. Drogba was fantastic yesterday, but so too was the majority of the team. Lampard finally seems to be coming into form once again, Del Horno and Geremi were whipping in crosses left and right, Makelele was once again controlling the midfield, Essien scored a cracker, and the defence as always was very solid. Hopefully we can continue this fine form onto Old Trafford.

    It's all about timing, you can't say that we haven't found better timing. May we see Gary Neville and Shrek both cry at Stamford Bridge. It is nice to know that Frank Lmpard caused Rooney to part with £700,000. Top man, Lampard.

    He's been better certainly. Better than Gerrard? Not in a million tiny lives.

    Have to disagree. This is Essien first season in the Premeirship and although he may perhaps not played as well as Gerrard, he is certainly a better team player than Gerrard this year.

    And I expect Essien to play better than Gerrard next season. The Premiership will become much more familiar to Essien.

  5. I won't say any names, but there are many Drogba-bashers that I know who have changed their tune and they are now denying that they bashed Drogba in the first place.

    There is nothing wrong in admitting that your opinion has changed. This isn't a forum about who is righteous or a know-it-all. Let be humble and say that we are humans and we have different perceptions.

    Reading here, http://www.chelseafc.com/article.asp?article=327302 I found interesting stuff. Do you guys think Joe keenan has a chance? He is already 23. I dont know our reserves well but I think people like Mancienne,Grant,Sinclair,Elmer, Nuno Morias are the only ones with a realistic chance to play for Chelsea and also as squad players. Maybe I could be proved wrong!

    id="quote">

    id="quote">

    Personally I don't think Keenan has a chance here anymore. Since that nasty injury, he has to recover slowly and age is not on his side anymore. Had he not got that injury, he may have had a chance to play 1st team football by now.

    I still say he is good enough to play for one of the lower Premiership sides and a dead cert for Championship football level easily.

    Ricardo Fernandes and Fabio Ferreira (the two ex Sporting kids) are very highly rated within Portugal, both providing match winning performances for their country.

    Perhaps we should test these two guys by promoting them to the Reserves for next season. That is if you reckon they are already that good.

  8. Welcome to CFCnet GOM.

    I hope Scott Sinclair will be the next Special One.

    He is really the only promising one we have in our youth/reserves set-up. There are many more names being mentioned but we have said in the past that Neil Shipperley and Jody Morris was going to be the next "Ryan Giggs" and "Alan Shearer"!!

    I think the game against Bolton is one where he will shine and I'm glad we have him to call upon.

    id="quote">

    id="quote">

    We need him to play that level for the next 5 games. And we be Champions without a sweat.

  10. quote:Originally posted by basole

    Great perfomance, and if he continues like that then no one will call him names again. BUT IF he goes back to his donkey touches, it will be pointed out too.

    I remember you saying recently that you prefer Milan Baros than Drogba.

    Will you eat your words this time?

    Drogbs is so unmechanical.

    What is old Franco up to now days? Is he in coaching or something of the like? Or just relaxing after a hard (many) years as an awesome footballer? I think he should come back to Chelsea as a striker coach or something, and teach our forwards how a real Blue is supposed to do it! ....Hear that Hernan? Didier? Score us some goals!! :D

    id="quote">

    id="quote">

    Franco is spending quality time with his wife and children.

    And so rightly so...

    I'm not sure how many best left backs there are in the world but I'd hope there was one better than Cole, who I've never especially rated even when he was fit, which seems a long time ago in itself. But given we're going through them like they're going out of fashion he might provide some certainty on the pitch.

    That's if he ever regains fitness of course. Unfit left backs haven't been in shortage these last few years.

    TBH, to my knowledge, I don't see a better LB than Ashley Cole. I do think he will get better and better as he get older. He is still only 25.

  13. quote:Originally posted by James Prescott

    I don't think this is press invention. It makes perfect sense. We need a left-back and Cole is the best around. He's young and English which Jose likes and alhtough is not tall is an excellent all-round left-back. Solid defensively but good going forward too. We tried for him last year and then I said we we would try again. Hopefully we can outbid Madrid and get him. Would be a great signing. And I don't think this story is an April fool either.

    id="quote">

    id="quote">

    The thing is would Arsenal sell him to us?

  14. quote:Originally posted by andyh

    TBH I think Ashley Cole would be a great signing,he is the best Lb available and is proven in the premiership.

    Imagine a transfer triple of:

    Ashley Cole

    Ballack

    Adriano/shevy

    Top quality!

    id="quote">

    id="quote">

    Ashley, Ballack and Tevez would be ideal for me.

    They are not useless. Not great maybe, but clearly not useless by any sense of the word.

    Glen,

    They are utterly useless players who masters the deception of looking that they work very hard and give 110% when in reality they completely are a waste of money and resource.
