Leicester is a step up from Man City on that current basis.... The expectations for Man u and Spurs are completely different. Spurs are hoping for a few trophies then probably sacking him before it goes badly. That is probably Levy plan. Man U expect to be sitting top of the league. That is why they brought in Jose. They saw Pep going to City and wanted someone who could compete with him. We all know how that turned out.

Did I not just say Inter and Man u? Left them with nothing good to be worked with for the next manager in the longer term.

Modric and Varane are the only players he bought at RM who played a big part in the future of RM. Back in 2004 I think Jose was one of the best simply because of where football was at in its current time. 2019 and there are better managers than him and managers who can develop and sustain projects. People are not thinking short term anymore especially with how expensive the transfer market has become. Team know they can’t run on short term gains anymore which is making Jose either adapt to long term sustainability or sink. Lets see how he does with this one.

What can he do differently? He has only been out of the game for a year. Can’t see him changing in the long term. He will always be the same and get quick improvements then suddenly sink and crash. I will bet on him to win a trophy or two but I will double bet on him leaving Spurs in awful situation and much worse than Poch left them in. Thats what makes coaches like Pep, Klopp and Poch good project managers. When they leave there is still something there to be worked with. The team has an identity and players of good age who can carry on for a while. Look how Jose left us in 2015. That became a mess especially with the players he let go and we had no identity in our style of play either. We also had some older players who probably needed replacing . The way he left Inter an ageing team without many players that could play for the next 3-5 years. Left Man U with bad recruitment and over paid players with no identity in style of play. I couldn’t think of a worse manager to appoint in hope of creating a long term project. Is it really worth winning a trophy then creating a mess for the next 3-4 years that you have to recover from? Jose can be the person to win them a trophy but he can also be the person that takes them back to where they came from and being a 6-8th position team who gets spanked by the big boys.

Can almost predict how this one will turn out. Short term glory with Jose winning a cup then saying he did better than the previous manager then end up being sacked with the next manager having to clear the mess. Style of football becoming boring and fall outs with some players most likely younger players. Some dodgy recruitments along the way too. Whatever happens Poch will leave Spurs in a better condition than Jose will so I am all for this appointment. Can’t believe how short sighted they can be. Still amazed that in 2019 people still believe Jose can create and sustain a long term project. Incredible.

Thats the difference between City and Liverpool. Replacements for Salah or Mane are no where near that level. City can just bring in another quality £60M attacker. They even have Sane to comeback as well.
  7. Manchester City vs Chelsea

Expecting a defeat for this one. We are in good form but I think it is nearly impossible to stop City from creating more clear cut chances than you. Even against Liverpool they had about 2 or 3 clear cut chances on the day. We should be scoring against that City defence for sure especially if Bravo is there. Problem is to avoid defeat we would need 3 goals or possibly more which is not easy at the Eithad. Unless we display a defensive masterclass and take all our chances it will be difficult to get anything from this. The Valencia game is more important than this anyway.

Maybe but when you look at the line up and the way RM play you wonder why he was bought in the first place. Many of the first 11 stay behind him and don’t really get involved in the final third. The only players that seem to be in the final third with is Benzema or Bale. I have watched them a few times this season but I can't figure out what they are trying to do exactly. It does not look very attacking but yet they are quite open. With Hazard you need good movement around him in the final third for him to create and play well. When the movement is poor he then switches to “ individual brilliance mode” . I can’t really fault him for doing that because sometimes it works. If Hazard ever played under a system like Pep you would see a different player that probably tries individual brilliance mode less often because of better movement around him.

I meant while he was here. RM system was heavily reliant on Ronaldo and those CL wins really hid their weaknesses. I am not surprised RM are not doing well post Ronaldo. It was clear they won’t have enough goals once he left. Buying Hazard to solve your goals crisis seems a bit silly to me considering he is a playmaker rather than a goal scorer.
  10. Manchester City vs Chelsea

I still would have liked to have seen him in a system that was not fully reliant on him. The 12/13 season he had with Mata always made me think he needed someone of that style to play with him in the final third. The moment Mata left we became a “pass it to Hazard team”. It became predictable. I also think this made others more comfortable hoping he would always come up with the goods. Some may think he hugged the ball but when he passed it to others did anything usually happen afterwards? Cesc came and eased the creativity burden for a while but Cesc usually played deeper and rarely got into final third positions . Mentally the team needed to get over relying on Hazard but in moments especially in the CL I think we have missed his quality at times. In this system he would have been good but I wouldn’t have played him week in week out. In games like Newcastle at home I think we would have created more with him in the team.

Interesting you say this. In the article I just linked he sort of describes this.

Thing is with OGS his teams performances did not always match the results. I watched them in games last season when they played Tottenham and completely got dominated and outplayed but managed to win 1-0 thanks to DDG and luck. Same thing happened against PSG when they got completely outplayed over two legs but managed to squeeze through with a lot of luck ,then you had people like Rio saying “give Ole the contract” as if they had not been completely outclassed. People could see OGS dip coming. He played a very similar pragmatic counter attack style to Jose which the players looked disinterested in playing which made the decision to give him a 3 year deal even more confusing. He was a good interim but it was clear he lived on the honeymoon period and would bring a boring style of football without real structure which is similar to what they had with Van Gaal and Jose.

I am not a huge fan of Willian but this is probably the best I have seen him. Better than the Jose, Conte and Sarri version. I would definitely give him a extension based on performance and squad depth right now. Not sure when he will decline but I am guessing sometime in the next two seasons which is probably on the board’s mind in terms of length of the contract.

Int break comes at the worst time. Would love to play against that City defence and GK right now.

Agree that was a clear pen. Still not seen the replay for Salah goal which looked tight. Interesting how they figured out that one within seconds but Sheffield decision took 3 mins. Also got to start questioning why refs dont use the monitor on the side. If he uses that he sees it’s a clear pen.

Lets hope Bravo starts against us.

Now that is funny. The top 4 seem to be pulling away but I expect more twists and turns. Still think Arsenal will get a boost if Emery leaves. They are better than what they are showing.
  19. Chelsea 2 Crystal Palace 0

Just seen the table. From 6th to 16th there is just 4 points. That is crazy.
  20. Chelsea 2 Crystal Palace 0

Could be 7 players in the future with RLC and James, who knows but then again Barkley wont likely be a Chelsea player for much longer so maybe 6.
  21. Chelsea 2 Crystal Palace 0

Well some seemed to think we would struggle to be in the top 10 and become Bournemouth. I still don’t know how people came to that conclusion. We should be aiming for top 6 with what we have. Finishing anywhere in the top 6 is a good season for me.

Good performance. Couldn’t have asked for more really after the midweek game. Was afraid fatigue would creep in. Kova Willian James and Pulisic the main stand outs. MOTM Kova or Willian. Thought Kova passing range in the 2nd half really stepped up. He moved the ball much better which helped us overall. We completely shut down Zaha. Everytime he plays against us he has always been a problem.

We have had 5 really good free kick positions and not managed one on target lol. Need some extra practice on those lads.
  24. Chelsea 2 Crystal Palace 0

This has been Pulisic best game so far. Even better than Burnley imo. His overall game has been very good.

    What a touch by Willian.
