  1. Chelsea vs Arsenal

Yep, that's the backup option - hoping for some decent 4G if the wifi isn't good enough... which lets be honest, it won't be!
  2. Chelsea vs Arsenal

I think Hazard will start this one, I see no reason for him not to. I think we'll see: Kepa Azpilicueta Rudiger Luiz Alonso Kante Jorginho Barkley Pedro Morata Hazard Bench: Caballero, Christensen, Emerson, RLC, Kovacic, Willian, Giroud It won't be an easy match, but I think we should have enough to get the win. Would love another clean sheet too. I'll be on a campsite in France for this one, so currently crossing my fingers the wifi is good enough or the bar is showing the game.

I'd say Alonso is a very intelligent player actually and I get the feeling he is extremely well respected by his teammates because of this. I just don'e get the lack of appreciation for Alonso at all. He's not the best LB in the world, but he is far from being a weak link in our side that needs replacing. I'd be looking at CF and a CB partner for Rudiger long before getting to LB.

    This exactly. It's really strange.
  5. 2018/19 Expectations.

Premier League: 1. City 2. Liverpool 3. Chelsea 4. United 5. Spurs 6. Everton 7. Arsenal Can't see past City. Liverpool 2nd best. I see Arsenal struggling, new manager after so long will be hard and they aren't built on a strong squad or strong core of players and I can see Everton sneaking in above them - some good signings and a good manager. Spurs I think will have a mixed season, they've been media darlings the last few years and still seen as the underdog doing so well, but I think with no new players and a world cup hangover, they may actually drop out of the top 4 this season. United will somehow find a way for top 4, more through others form than them doing well - Jose gone before next season and Poch to take over. Europa League: Semi Finalists. I think we'll rest players early on, but do enough to get us through and then really go for it, but come up short at the business end as we are still battling for top 4. FA Cup: 1/4 finals League Cup: Out in early rounds

He really does split opinion, which I find so bizarre. He was one of our best players last season and probably our most consistent. He's rarely a 9/10 but I'd say he's barely ever below a 7. I feel like him not being able to play LB has become a narrative the many buy in to without any real proof. So far he's played there in 1 PL game and did pretty well I think, we have little else to base it on at the moment. That said, we're all entitled to our opinions, that's what keeps these pages ticking over.

3-0 away from home, that's very much job done. It's early days, so didn't expect the perfect match, but we could see in the second half a bit more how Sarri wants us to play. Feel like Hazard, Pedro and Willian will all suit this formation and style which is great news. Going to pick out Alonso, not because I think he has a super amazing game today, but for someone who takes so much flack on this forum, he yet again put in a ver solid performance and proved that despite what some say, he probably can actually play at LB. MoM a tricky one in this one, but probably go to Pedro for me., he worked hard all game and deserved his goal. I also think Barkley did pretty well today, still a bit rusty, but he's another I think could fit in well with Sarri's style.
  8. Huddersfield 0 Chelsea 3

They did start, but Spurs also struggled - 2-1 flattered them.
  9. Huddersfield 0 Chelsea 3

Is an odd one, can only presume Sarri is going for experience in the first few games to get him through his start in a new league.
  10. Huddersfield 0 Chelsea 3

Recovering from his injury still. He posted on instagram earlier today from Cobham, it was a video of him running in the recovery pool
  11. Huddersfield 0 Chelsea 3

Have you seen Bakayoko? Oh wait you said 'player'...
  12. Huddersfield 0 Chelsea 3

I left Bakayoko out as I expect him to be out on loan to Milan before he end of the european window, same as the other players I missed out (Zouma, Piazon etc out on loan). The players I've mentioned missing out are the ones I expect to hang around. Having a big squad is good, we haven't had it for a long time and it cost us so much last season (less so the season before as we had fewer games). I see it as: First team: Kepa Azpilicueta Rudiger Christensen Alonso Kovacic Jorginho Kante Willian Giroud Hazard Back up: Caballero Zappa Luiz Cahill Emerson Barkley Fabregas Drinkwater Pedro Morata CHO Reserve back up: GK: Green FB: Moses CB: Ampadu CM: Ampadu/RLC AM: RLC STK: Tammy Which means we have 2 players for every position plus enough to cover serious injury/suspension crisis. Can Sarri keep them all happy, who knows, it won't be easy, but Thursday night football will help.

I think Kepa goes straight in, I see no reason why not to be honest. I'd also personally start with CHO and I think Sarri may well go that way. Ampadu deserves a start based on pre-season form, but can't see that happening. My guess: Kepa Azpilicueta Rudiger Luiz Alonso Barkley Jorginho Kante Pedro Morata CHO Subs: Caballero, Christensen, Fabregas, Kovacic, Hazard, Willian, Giroud That leaves Green, Zappacosta, Cahill, Ampadu, Emerson, Drinkwater, RLC, Moses, Tammy not involved... we actually have a squad!! We should have enough to win this, but with new system, new manager etc it may not be as straight forward as we could expect. A nice win with a few goals and a CS and I'll be delighted... expect a 2-0/2-1 win though.

I'm happy with that as a window I have to say... as long as Madrid/Barca don't snatch Willian, Hazard or Kante away in the next few weeks, but I don't think they will. I expect to see Bakayoko, Zouma, Bulka, Piazon & Musonda to go out on loan and Batshuayi either sold or loaned out, leaving us with the following squad for the season: GK: Kepa, Caballero, Green RB: Azpilicueta, Zappacosta CB: Rudiger, Christensen, Cahill, Luiz, Ampadu LB: Alonso, Emerson CM: Kante, Jorginho, Barkley, Kovacic, Fabregas, Drinkwater AM/WING: Hazard, Willian, Pedro, RLC, CHO, Moses STK: Morata, Giroud, Tammy That's 2 players for every position plus a 5th CB and a 7th CM in Ampadu and 2 extra wingers and an extra striker. That is finally a proper sized squad (how we could have done with this last year). Slight concern about where goals will come from and just crossing fingers one of our strikers can get going and be the number 1 striker we desperately need. We then need Hazard, Pedro, Willian, Barkley to help out as well. COME ON CHELS!

Nice to see us heading in to a season with a full squad, potentially with too many players - very rare for us. Definitely feels like the club are pushing the home grown/youth team players with Ampadu, RLC, CHO & Tammy all in the squad still. I feel like Ampadu and CHO can make a real impact this season and the other two it feels more like a 'prove it or lose it' season. CB pairing is so crucial, but I feel like it may take a while for Sarri to work out who is the best fit for this. For me Rudiger should be in there and so it's about finding the right partner for him - for me this isn't Luiz.

I agree with this, I think he'll end up further up the field, be that at Chelsea or elsewhere. His strength is impressive and he has good ball control with decent pace - could be a good impact player of the bench when the finesse of Willian, Hazard or Pedro isn't working - he can be much more direct than those 3 I feel.

I wonder what James is making of all this...
  18. Chelsea 0 Lyon 0 (Chelsea win 5-4 on penalties)

I would hope they get a run out of some sort
  19. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 2

My guess is that's Kompany making that happen as much as anything else. We are desperate for a true leader in the squad, the gap still left by JT is huge. If Terry were still around, my guess is he would have been on the phone to Hazard, Kante, Bats etc and explained that they should get back and show support for the team and impress the new manager and explain how great it is under this new guy etc etc... in fact they probably wouldn't have needed the call as the togetherness he helped form was huge.
  20. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 2

    Agree with this.
  21. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 2

No worries - one of the not so great things about not being able to display sarcasm in text... gets me in trouble a lot! We could definitely do with the club making some more signings though, the window closing is so bad for us (as many other clubs) as Sarri has no time to see his entire squad and asses them to work out who will and who won't fit in his system and style. The club need patience to stick with him and then back him January - his side of that bargain is keeping us in contention for top 4 until January. Fingers crossed all ends well.
  22. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 2

That't fine and I can't really comment as I didn't see the game, however we do need to be patient and give this new era time - it may well end in disaster, but I just get the feeling some people are expecting that and will therefore jump on any disappointing performance or result - both of which are inevitably going to happen over the course of the season. Honestly I just want to be entertained again and to see our players working hard, enjoying and expressing themselves - of course I want us to win everything in sight as well, but in the short term I want the entertainment back, last season was painful.
  23. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 2

Likewise, my tongue was definitely in my cheek with this comment.
  24. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 2

I didn't get to see the game as was out, but I got to page 7 of the match day forum and jumped to the end and ignored everything else - people moaning already... seriously? New manager, new system, hasn't been able to work with the full squad yet... what do people expect? It's also against the strongest team in the division who have the same manager and pretty much the same team as last season. People moan our board has no patience, but with some of our fanbase, they don't have a chance to be!
  25. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 2

I'd like to see: Bulca Azpilicueta Rudiger Luiz Emerson RLC Jorginho Barkley Pedro Tammy CHO What I think we'll see: Caballero Azpilicueta Rudiger Luiz Alonso Drinkwater Jorginho Barkley Pedro Morata CHO This will be very much a friendly match with so many missing for each side, but think it should be entertaining.
