  1. Official: Juan Mata Leaves For Man United

Yes. He is definitely the best finisher among the Spanish midfielders. And there is a reason for that. If I recall correctly, he used to be a striker for the Madrid youth team. And was converted into a winger at Valencia (and then into a playmaker after Silva left). I remember Wenger saying something along the lines of "Wonder why Chelsea don't get Mata into the box more often. He has a lethal finish on him. That's how I'd have played him had I got him."
  2. Eden Hazard

Isn't it? He averages 0.8 successful crosses per game compared to Mata's 1.8. Half the assists is exaggeration. Probably 3-4. I never said he's a bad crosser. Just not as good a crosser as someone like Valencia, a true winger. Hazard's strength lies in his dribbling, his pace and final ball. Also, his finishing is excellent for his position and age. He's not a true winger. More like a wing/forward. I'd want KDB to take set pieces every time he plays. Hazard would take penalties in absence of Lampard.
  3. Eden Hazard

When I said 'worse than Mata', doesn't mean he's bad. Mata's a 7.5/10 and Hazard's a 7/10. But not a 8+/10 like a traditional winger. He's marginally better than Mata in his tackling. But not much defensively. A 6/10 to Mata's 5/10. If both do play, hope we've a lot of possession and the double pivot are very alert when we don't.

Hazard is a worse crosser than Mata.

  7. Eden Hazard

The fact of the day Monday was of course at the Red Devils pending the decision to be announced Eden Hazard about his next club. Marc Wilmots, the national coach, discussed the facts with his customary good sense: "Finally, this does not look the Belgian Union or the Red Devils. That's his problem. It will give the reversal when it will. You do not know Eden. This is not what is going on or the stress concentration. When he has, through his tweet, indicated his destination club, he will be silent until his new employer will ask him to explain his choice. Expect nothing further ten days. "

    Cheers! :)
  9. Non Chelsea: Premier League

Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson now both have one Premier League victory each at Anfield in 2012.

Frankly don't know where to put this. Fantastic skills by Mata. And some other nice moments.

Pretty much same as Aguero? You need to be U-23 at the start of season to be eligible for YPOTY nomination. Juan Mata: 13 goals (6 in PL), 18 assists (11 in PL) David Silva: 8 goals (6 in PL), 17 assists (13 in PL) Had our strikers been more clinical, Mata would definitely have had more assists. Plus, most of the season, he was playing as LW, whereas his most natural position is behind the striker in the hole. And not to forget, it's just his first season in PL. Opta Stats - As on April 5, Mata has created 92 chances in 29 games. The highest in Premier League, followed by Silva at 80 in 30 games. Mata is better than Bale, Walker, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Parker and probably Silva. And still he didn't get nominated in either POTY or YPOTY.

How many passes of that quality have we seen this entire season? I'm pretty sure any of our current players would passed it to the nearest man. Doubt anyone would have gone over the top. It was obvious and simple, but where we are lacking is the vision to make it at the risk of losing the ball. These were the kind of passes Torres was getting at Liverpool. That one pass to take all of the midfield and defence out of the game. Sorry, but I'll call it spectacular.

Update: Genk played Anderlecht tonight. KDB was playing as a central midfielder in a 4-4-2. Genk won 3-1. He assisted one goal and was involved in another one. So 11 assists and 2 goals in last 9 games for him. Here are some tweets on KDB by John Chapman (@BelgoFoot) Could be be the deep lying playmaker that we are looking for? Can be excellent in a 4-2-3-1 double pivot just behind Mata, playing with a defensive midfielder. Only, he needs to improve on his tackling. I'll try and post highlights of the game if I can.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGpqwES2rbY See from 6:25 to 7:45. Genk 3-1 Gent. March 21, 2012. KDB involved in all 3 goals. A beautiful pinpoint freekick for the first goal, a spectacular through ball for the second goal and a neat finish for the third goal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WejLlC9L854 Highlights of the Genk-Kortrijk game played on April 11. De Bruyne is involved almost all the attacks by Genk. Created the first goal and the second one was an OG from his set piece. Crossing and set piece delivery is immaculate. Stats from February 1, 2012 onwards (after his transfer and loan back) in Jupiler Pro League 11-12 and Playoffs: Matches Played - 10 Goals - 2 Assists - 10
