Anyone able to copy and paste this article through the paywall? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/07/12/high-intensity-no-time-golf-frank-Lampard-has-upped-pace-first/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Champions League football next season confirmed, so would be great to increase the quality of the squad with 4 top quality signings: one alternative to Jorginho at base of midfield, a box to box midfielder to rotate with Kante, another winger/wide forward who could play wide but also play up front (someone like Spurs' Son) and a top quality striker. Would be a spend of at least £200m, but we could re-coup a fair bit from some departures. If we can't buy any players alternative loanee's or keepers in brackets! -------------------Kepa/Willly Azpi/James-------Luiz/Christensen ------- Rudiger/Zouma--------Emerson-Alonso Jorginho/NEW (Ampadu) Kante/New(Bakayoko) RLC/Barkley Pulisic/WIllian Hudson-Odoi/New (Pedro) Giroud/New (Batshuayi/Higuain) Out: Zappa - 15m Cahill - Free Drinkwater - 10m Pedro - 10m Hazard - 80m Total: £115m (not including fees we'll receive from likely loanee departures End of loans: Kovacic, Higuain New loan: Ampadu Ideally Tammy and Mount would get PL loans, and replace Giroud and potentially Barkley in a years time! I really like Pedro, but feel as though at nearly 32, and given he's not always fit, might be a right moment to cash in on him.

What do people think of Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace? Would he suit Sarri ball? I think he'd be a great option at RB instead of Zappa, and with Batshuayi on loan and scoring there, a potential swap or part exchange could be viable in the summer? I think it's too soon to promote Reece James and Ola Aina seems likely to go permanently to Torino. Difficulty is, with Azpi essentially captain and barely rotated, can't see us getting a quality back-up who is willing to only get 10-15 games a season? Unless Ampadu covers there, but surely he needs a loan next season.

Prices aren't entirely accurate and you'd probably swap Kalas for Azpi for another £7m but an interesting line-up, for sure! https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/8207444/chelsea-alternative-xi-40m/

Five things: 1. It's clear to me that Pulisic is not a direct replacement for Hudson Odoi, but a replacement for at least one of Hazard, Pedro or Willian given their current age and/or contract situations. More likely the latter two given Pulisic's preference to play on the right wing. 2. Given Hudson Odoi looks more comfortable and effective cutting in from the left wing they are less likely to be in direct competition with each other for the right wing slot. 3. The fee may be large but given the commercial benefits in America and the fact we are getting the transfer business done early I think the board have done well to get this over the line for a decent fee, in todays market. 4. Rather than alienate Hudson Odoi or any of our current wingers, it should have the opposite effect, and make sure the likes of Willian, who is playing pretty much every game for us at the moment, don't get complacent and up their game as they know they'll have a fight for their place next season. 5. Getting the deal done early shows ambition and may encourage Hazard to extend his contract.
  6. Following Chelsea's Loans

Does anyone have access to the Telegraph website? If so, would you be kind enough to copy and paste this article? Sounds like a great read https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/12/10/izzy-brown-shows-chelseas-loanpolicy-misunderstood-unfairly/

Barkley in January makes sense if he's going to be injured until November. Also potential for some of our loan army to be recalled in January, like we did with Ake last [although that was to replace Ivanovic..] We are also alleged to have buy-back clauses in Ake, Chalobah and Traore All may come in handy if we have an injury crisis. As an aside, great to see the likes of Alonso, Fabregas and Luiz not being picked for their national teams and resting up for their clubs, it may be one of the reasons we're after Drinkwater ;)

For those of you feeling down, a reminder of our summer signings in 2009: IN: Yuri Zhirkov (CSKA Moscow, £18m), Ross Turnbull (Middlesbrough, free), Daniel Sturridge (Manchester City, tribunal), Nemanja Matic (MFK Kosice, £1.5m) 9 months later we won the Double.

We did the same mid-way through the season with Robben and Cech and it wouldn't surprise me if many more deals were agreed 12 months in advance without the public ever knowing. Would have loved to see Keita add to our CM positions, seems a great fit for one of our 2 positions. Talking of 12 months ahead, that's how long Iniesta has left on his contract. Wonder if our Spanish contingent could talk him into a move. Would offer us great CL experience if we could get him on good wages and would give our attacking loanees bit more time to get experience on loan rather than getting replaced here with a younger more expensive long-term option

This article excellently summarises why Miazga has actually been a very worthwhile signing for the club. We wouldn't have got £50m for Oscar has it not been for that transfer. His value has also increased since his £3.5m move. Fundamental for clubs to maintain good relationships with top agents. https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2016/8/19/12551714/an-inside-look-into-football-transfer-negotiations

I would add Michael Hector to that squad as 6th choice CB and 5th chouce CM. At 25 and with significant experience from top flight football last season think he would add some required depth and decent experience (including at international level) at CB and DM. Also HG status so wouldn't burden the squad and at 6ft 4 add some height. Really disappointed he hasn't been taken on tour and sad to see him in the development squad at 25, along with Izzy Brown! : (

Also worth baring in mind we're probably intentionally linking ourself to some wing backs we may not be interested in to inflate prices for City who need them more desperately than us. Wouldn't surprise me if we were doing so for Danilo
  13. Transfer Talk Topic

Would not surprise me if Michael Hector is given the 6th choice CB role/5th choice CM role in the squad this season. 22 appearances (would have been more had it not been for those 2 red cards early in the season) averaging 60 mins in the Bundesliga with a team who finished 11th isn't exactly Chelsea material, but good progress for a first season playing top tier football and his home grown status, versatility and height (he's 6ft 4) could make him a good squad addition. He also played on the right side of a back 3 at times last season so no stranger to 3 at the back. Anyone see him play in Germany last season? Would give us some depth: Azpi, Luiz, Cahill, Rudiger, Christensen, Hector [Alonso LCB option as well if Sandro joins] [Zouma loan]
  14. Squad Status: 2021/22 Season

So, with a 3-4-3 which is what we played against Hull, our squad depth in terms of range of positions for this formation looks like Courtious/Begovic Azpi/Ivanovic Terry/Cahill Luiz/Zouma Moses/Aina Kante/Fabregas/Mikel Matic/Chalobah/RLC Alonso/Todd Kane? Willian/Pedro Hazard/Oscar Costa/Batshuayi/Solanke If we carry on with this formation till Christmas we are clearly looking congested in CM, with not enough experience back-up at wing back. I'd recall Kenedy from Watford if he still isn't getting game time )would also give us a genuine wide option instead of Oscar there, given Moses is at RB. Would having Ivanovic as a back-up to Moses hide his ageing legs?
