  1. Chelsea 2 Paris Saint-Germain 2 (AET)

For all the praise Hazard has gotten over the two legs am I the only one who's started to not quite see what his purpose is at the moment? He's not scoring game-winning goals in open play the way Ronaldo just did in the Schalke game (goals that are the reason they're in the last 8), he's not destroying teams on the counter-attack. Basically I see a lot of dribbling around and running of 2 or 3 players into the ground but limited real goal opportunities coming from him in the big matches. Sometimes I've even seen him slow down almost specifically so he can take the player on. I think he's not always direct enough to be dangerous. Yes they stick 3 players on him every time, but they stick 3 players on every great flair player.

Caught between attack and defense at every single step of the game. I hate home second-legs for exactly this reason (unless we're losing from the first leg and know exactly that we need to attack). It's absolute nonsense that playing at home the second leg is an advantage. Same story last year against Atletico. You want to play away in the second so you can judge the game and how much attacking or defending is needed and the magic away goals mean you only need to draw all the time.
  3. Chelsea 1 Burnley 1

Refereeing performance put to side for just one moment, I can't help but think that something is badly wrong at the moment if with Costa, Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Cuadrado, Fabregas, Drogba and Remy as attacking options, Ivanovic the right-back is the only one able to scrape a goal in two matches in a row (a goal that proved to not be enough in both cases). We're not scoring enough is the bottom line, 4 of the last 5 games we've only mustered 1 goal, 3 of which we've caved the lead for after being 1-0 up. Even if we had got the penalty, it's not a good sign that we're relying on things like these to get us through where we should be scoring open-play goals from the riches of attacking talent we have and putting these games to bed.
  4. Chelsea 1 Manchester City 1

Very anticlimactic in the end. Not the clash of the titans people were probably hoping for but we all could have expected this; 120 minute Capital One Cup match midweek and injuries and suspensions to key players without the depth to cover for them. Mourinho was being pragmatic here in a way that other managers may not have. This keeps us in a fairly comfortable driving seat still.
  5. Chelsea 1 Manchester City 1

Cahill holding the midfield right as they're turning up the tempo?
  6. Chelsea 1 Manchester City 1

Are we waiting for Lampard to come on before turning the heat up and trying to take advantage of his 36-year-old legs?

  8. Chelsea 1 Manchester City 1

Doesn't feel like the pulsating match we usually see at the Bridge when it's a big game so far. Maybe that's not the worst thing with the 120 minutes on Tuesday, if we're trying not to burn ourselves out.
  9. Chelsea 1 Manchester City 1

They're getting down our left-hand side too easily.
  10. Chelsea 1 Manchester City 1

I'm more worried about the possibility of Lampard coming on and creating tension and nervousness around Stamford Bridge that gives City the lift they'll need. Also worth noting that with Costa out, even though I expect Remy to start, I expect both Drogba and Lampard to come on in the second half which would mean Terry, Lampard and Drogba all playing competitively at Stamford Bridge again.
  11. Tottenham 5 Chelsea 3

I think this result was more to do with us not having the tools at the right moment to handle this particular fixture. Away from home against a very energetic and physical Spurs side and we have Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Fabregas all on the pitch at the same time. I remember 2 seasons ago people questioning whether we could afford to have all 3 of Hazard, Mata and Oscar at the same time. I'm not condoning this in the long run, but today was probably a fixture for Ramires in place of Oscar and if we had somebody of the ilk of Khedira him in for Fabregas as well. More physicality to cope with Spurs' game.
  12. Newcastle 2 Chelsea 1

Instead we have to hear all the smug "well I guess they weren't invincibles after all ;)" remarks from all the same pundits and media who were the ones repeating the invincible mantra.
  13. Newcastle 2 Chelsea 1

We've been outstanding this season, and yet there's a predictability in the way we lose when we do eventually, every single time. "Great" play with not enough end product, followed by a clumsy goal conceded, followed by heavy pressure against a wall for the rest of the game without ever unlocking them. Very frustrating. At least we already have a big cushion of points when this almost scripted result pops up again this time.
  14. Chelsea 1 Atletico Madrid 3

    What the hell happened?
  15. Chelsea 1 Atletico Madrid 3

Lampard and Mikel are suspended. Does anybody know if any players are 1 yellow away from a suspension and in danger of missing the final?
