Always loved Tony Dorigo even if he went to Leeds. The break away goal against Man City at Maine Road when we beat them 3-1 to almost guarantee the league title in ‘87 will always be a highlight.
  2. Chelsea 2 Tottenham Hotspur 0

It’s amazing what a goal will do! Quality tackle and bit of skill there.
  3. Chelsea 2 Tottenham Hotspur 0

I think it is the Spuds fans. I noticed last time we played them that they booed him. I guess on the back of his goals against them in the past.
  4. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 0 (3-4 Pens)

It had. With a big 1 on it.
  5. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 0 (3-4 Pens)

Absolute disgrace. Plus Willy is the Don when it comes to pens. Kepa best save a few.....

It’s the hope that kills you.... I have a feeling we will win too.

Can’t argue that he isn’t slow. Quick brain, slow feet. Hopefully one will compensate for the other! Ironically Kyle Walker is probably the other way round! :-)

Well said. Christensen apart for a period towards the end of last season where his form dropped (probably due to being overplayed) was quality, he had a decent World Cup too. He will do well again next year. Luiz I love but a lot depend on what mood he is in, I hope we see the Luiz from 2016/17. I can see Rudiger and Christensen being the main pairing but I have not written off Cahill either, he is not as bad as some make out and I suspect will do a decent job if he plays. Alonso gets a bad press, the guy oozes technique and despite many people on here saying he is not good enough whenever I see him he is absolutely one of the best players. He got voted in to the premier league team of the year last year, can’t be that bad! The two goals against The Spuds last year should have given him legend status rather than the constant calls to upgrade! We could have Rahman back or a Luke Shaw. I know who I would rather. Defensively I think we will be fine, I too (like most it seems) have worries about our forward line and our ability to score enough goals. 2 days until kick off! Getting excited!

I know quite a few Fulham season ticket holders (half my family are Fulham, fortunately I chose the right half) and they all think that both players are poor particularly Piazon. Kalas played a bit more (29 starts) but Piazon only started 16 games, neither integral and I think we will be lucky to get a set of kit and a Mars bar for them.
  11. Chelsea 0 Lyon 0 (Chelsea win 5-4 on penalties)

I suspect I am in the minority here but I think Alonso particularly and Emerson are getting a bad press. Alonso was voted in to the premier league 11 last year and has so much technique, he can pass, cross and is always a danger over a free kick. I get he isn’t the quickest but aren’t we being a bit quick to write him off, a great wing back does not suddenly become a crap full back. Plus he got two against The Spuds and for me that gives him legend status! As for Emerson on the few games he played last year I thought he looked decent. He may not be good enough but until he has a few more games it is impossible to tell.

I disagree, the Everton game at home the season before last showed the quality of football this team can play. There have been a few changes in personnel since then but not much. In Zola’s interview a few weeks ago he said that the club and the fans will need to show patience, here we are half time of the first (semi) competitive game and already you are convinced he will never get there. You May be right of course but at least give them a bit of time to try.

    You beat me to it!

I get in the match day forum is it traditional to be moody if we are not 3-0 up within 10 minutes but - I) we are still without a number of key players. ii) Man City are probably the best English team right now, it isn’t easy to look amazing and create lots of chances iii) anyone who expects Sarri to have us playing Champaign football this quickly having only been in place for 4 weeks without lots of the squad needs to have a word with themselves iv) it’s only half time and a glorified pre season friendly
