  1. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

    thanks chelc... good effort appreciated!
  2. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

Juni, apart from majority of the players in the starting 11 which was involved against Pompey, the one which IMO is unknown quality is Morten Nielsen. Can you give me more information about this young lad? What type of a centre-forward is he? Thanks alot.
  3. Salomon Kalou

Yep he is. Ok, lets be fair to him. Lets give this talented lad another 10 games before we start to judge him. At the moment, he does look good. He has that 'unpredictability' about him, and the pace to compliment a target man like Didier. He can also drift down the flanks and provide that width, which can draw defenders off their position. I think he can be a hit this season! We wait and see...
  4. Michael Essien

Then, there is absolutely no need to risk the Bison at the Madjeski on Wednesday. Let him recuperate from his injury, hopefully he can be back for that big one against Pool. We need his movement, his drive against Liverpool. CMON BISON!
  5. Didier Drogba

Last season, Drogba stunned many people when he scored 33 goals, some of them are crazy ones. He was finally playing regularly with a partner up front, which he favours alot than the lone strike role. His confidence rised increasingly as the season goes by. He is now rated one of the best in his position. Now, I was wondering as Jose said we could return to playing the 4-3-3 which Drogba clearly do not prefer(the first 2 season has seem him done not too good in that formation). If Drogba fail to score in first 5 competitive matches at the start of the season, will he feel the pressure? I hope we Chelsea fans dont climb on his back, too soon. I hope we can score goals from different departments, and take the load of Drogba. Any thoughts?
  6. New Kits

Nice nice... kinda resemble Barca's away just 2 seasons ago.
  7. Gael Kakuta

Guillaume, how do you know that? Any inside news? Another talent coup by FA.
  8. Michael Essien

Guys, this is what I took out from a youtube page. Hey no, its not the video that is interesting me, its the comments made by rival fans that interest me. Comments made: manutd808 (5 months ago) Best midfielder in premiership since Paul Ince!!! FlakoFino23 (3 months ago) Essien is CRAZY good I WISH he was A GUNNER !! WE WOULD OWN midfields!!! all over europe
  9. Michael Essien

Seriously, I agree with Robbo regarding this issue. I really think it will be fantastic to see the Train gets the captain armband. Not too long ago, in an interview with Ashley Cole, he said there were many leaders in the group and that includes Essien. When thing dont go according to your plan, you need someone to drive the team forward, that man can no doubt be Essien.
  10. Didier Drogba

It felt so touching watching the video, when those Marseille fans still chants his name even after Didi departs for quite a time. A legend for OM and Chelsea truely. He will return to OM at the age of 35, and sign a 1 year deal. :P
  11. Ashley Cole

great news. We are going to have Mikey and Riccy for selections against Norwich. Ballack is even in contention for Porto, we are getting 'luckier' regarding injury recuperating duration. Hopefully Ash can get back as early as possible, training before Carling Cup final sounds good. Regarding Joe, he will play, hopefully a part in the latter stage of the seaon.
  12. Didier Drogba

Hopefully a goldenboot winner and a PFA Player of the Year winner at the end of the season will win his son's heart back again! A swap to Chelsea no.11 shirt!
  13. Didier Drogba

At the moment, I feel Drogba should play the deeper role and allow Sheva to stay at the shoulder of the last defender. I feel Sheva is finding more goal scoring chances in the box, Didier has the ability to come from deep, they can also switch their roles vice-versa in matches. Wednesday match was a prime example of what should be done, they are doing well in their parthnership. Lampard was the galvaniser/fulcrum, doing less of his long-range shooting and really playmake very well. The surging runs, the passes he made to Sheva and Drogba and during counter-attacking situations. I think it depends on situations, if Sheva thinks that its a better oppurtunity to score, he should that the chance! Other than that, he was did try to assist he mates like crossing for Ballack and squaring it to Lamps when he thought he couldnt get a clear space to shoot.
  14. Michael Essien

This season whenever our midfield was without Essien, we were lacking in the drive and pace of the Bison. Whenever he steps into midfield or even any position he plays, he always try to step forward, making his own way up the pitch and join in the attack. There is always that aura that surrounds him when he runs tiredlessly with the ball, anything that tries to get into his way will be deflected. He brings that energy, that drive and commitment into the team. The team engine slows down along if he isn't, the team sometimes lack that urgency which Essien's driven run make up for. We truly have a warrior in our hand, this man can really play two 90 minutes without stopping. He is Africa's very own Stevie Gerrard.
  15. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

Considering one of Villa Res's centre halves was Martin Laursen, that is some impact made by our team. Sergio Tejera doing the playmaking, while Sahar getting to the end of it. We have got either Norwich or Blackpool in the FA Cup 5th round, maybe there's a chance Sahar and Woods can continue with their run in the first team. Would be appreciative if anyone have the goals ~~
  16. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

I think Woods, Sinclair and Sahar look the most talented at the moment. We are working really hard to gradually build up the youth sytem. Barca do tend to give their youth a chance, in cup competions and trust them against lesser opposition. Those kids just play according to the style of Barca, they play together with the seniors. Messi was developed via this way, playing with his seniors week by week(20-30 minutes) and became part of the first team squad. It helps if you have a 7-man-bench though. I have faith with those kids in the reserves/youth. Its just whether the Senior Coaching Staff(Including Jose) thinks is it too risky to give them the chance, or are they good enough. Remember Carlos Alberto became the 3rd youngest scorer in a European Cup final couple of seasons back when he was 19. He played that night instead of Benni McCarthy.
  17. Michael Essien

    good job again CareFreeChris
  18. Salomon Kalou

What can I say? Absolutely agree with BlueBoy90. I am really impressed by Kalou, everytime he's given a chance by Jose in the side(whether is it coming in as an impact player or starting). I said he needed just that goal, just a goal to kick start everything(the carling cup goal was quite long ago). He is a very confident player, he dare to take on players but at the same time would not attempt a blind dribble but will look around for better options(making a pass). He has really quick feets, his trademark skill is the one he moves the ball slightly to his left with his right foot then do the opposite to move in spaces. For all his trickery, he is very direct, doing the simple thing like going down the byline for a cross(sometime abit heavy, but SWP dosent even does something close to this). The good point about Soly is that he isn't predictable, you never know when he will go out the byline for a cross OR cuts in and make diagonal runs. Moreover, I really like the formation we play today, the front trio is operating nothing short of threatening(just slacking after the 2 goal cushion). Kalou and Robbie can switch flanks and cause fullbacks problems with their pace & trickery. Drogs doing the important job, rampaging the middle and flicking the ball brilliantly to the upcoming Robbie/Kalou like he has done against Wigan on number of occasions. Sometime you see one of the wingers going inside, like Kalou has done on many times, but was rather unlucky to hit the post and finish it to softly to Kirkland. I really like the first goal which is what we haven't seen Chelsea score often this season, with more 'individual goals' scored. It is a fantastic team goal which we should try to depend much upon, a tricky defence-splitting pass into the box by Robbie to find Lampsy(onside) and tap the ball in simply. With R & K, who knows maybe it could be even more fantastic than the R & D parthnership. For now, Sheva shall stay on the bench for a little while. Keep the faith guys!! UP THE CHELS!
  19. Salomon Kalou

He has come in to create havoc in opponent's defence and created couple of penalty that eventually won us 3 points in the league. You dont know the importance of 3 points in league matches dont you?
  20. Didier Drogba

Didier is doing well because he simply has someone playing beside him, sharing the burden of being mark by defenders. He scored 30 goals for Marseille in the 2003/04 season in which he parthnered Mido up front, mind you! I think Didier plays best with another strike parthner, but he could equally do an effective targetman/bulldozer job upfront if needed. There is few player in the world who can play the two role effectively, let alone able to do it. Form is temporary, Class is permanent. Lets hope Didier turns his form into CLASS! Cmon Didier!!
  21. Didier Drogba

Its just 2 more goals for Didier and he will level his goal tally for last season, and 6 more before he becomes the elusive '20-goals-a-season' striker. MORE title will be given to him as more goals come hopefully !
  22. Didier Drogba

    It was definetly fourteen!
  23. Salomon Kalou

Hope its a minor injury that the club wouldnt bother to comment on, fingers-crossed. Soly is a very exciting player, a player quite unpredictable when coming on as a sub, quite an effective one too. I hope the raw gem is ready for Hammers! Good recovery soon Soly..
  24. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

Thanks for the link dooder12. I hope Ben get his place at U-21 level permanently after this performance. He was actually part of the U-19 squad, until some of the U-21 forwards was transfered to the Israel Senior team. Ben is a confident man now! CMON Sahar!!
  25. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

didn't anyone notice, this is the Soton Youth side that won the Reserve League last season. We were beaten to the league only by goal differences. Off Topic, Ben Sahar scored his first U-21 goal against France already.
