  1. Transfer Talk Topic

Sceptical about the Cuadrado link. Doesn't fit the profile of player we have been going for post Jan 2010. 27 in May.
  2. NK Schalke 0 Chelsea 5

Or, perhaps more pertinently, Diego Costa.
  3. Transfer Talk Topic

Sterling is 19. He is the best player in his age group.
  4. Chelsea 1 FC Schalke 04 1

Drogba is here as a cheerleader. An ally for José (if (when?) he needs one). Strange that he started. Maybe there's something in store for Remy on the weekend, or further down the line...
  5. Transfer Talk Topic

I think the only thing that is very probable is that noone posting here knows how transfer addons, loan payments etc. work.
  6. Transfer Talk Topic

23.7-((17+wages+general costs of such a player)*inflation) Doubt we even broke even on this one.

  8. Official: Cesc Fabregas Departs For Monaco

Quite happy. Perhaps the most clear indicator that other clubs were in fact interested is their vehement denials of that fact.
  9. Official: Eden Hazard Departs For Real Madrid

I'm fairly confident he is off next year though. I might suspect that even more if he is offered a new contract. I've done no research into this, but you often see players get a new contract and move a year later. I guess so they (both the club and player) are in a stronger bargaining position the next year. Then again, we've never sold a player we didn't want to (2004-). Will be interested to see how this plays out.
  10. Transfer Talk Topic

Does anyone know why the Luiz deal is yet to go through (or Costa)?
  11. Transfer Talk Topic

Ramires is one of our most important players. He's a freak. Forget Hazard, he is the player that would be hardest to replace (like for like) in this squad.
  12. Transfer Talk Topic

When did we have members of the club (JM, Torres, Azpil) comment on a player without us signing him? I genuineley can't remember.
  13. Media / Press

At least he might provide some entertainment as he's a bit of a WUM (as most people in jobs like his need to be). More generally I think people need to understand the incentives of those in the media. They are not trying to actively promote biased views, they are trying to generate interest in their stories. In the days of internet advertising hits on their webpage are the main aim. This goal is most easily achieved by writing stories that get a reaction. A fair and insightful article (in mainstream media) will be much less profitable for the company. Of course the ex pro "pundits" are a different kettle of fish altogether.

Drogba never wanted to be here.
  15. Non Chelsea: Champions League

Random point I want to make, with Ancelotti being hailed all round (and people claiming he should've never been sacked). He has won only three titles in his career, in 15 years of managing 'top' clubs. It looks even worse when one of them was at PSG. I do think his record in the CL, a tournament where luck plays a large role, has glossed over some of his failures. I always think as him as someone who will get 80% of a team but not much more.

One half of the January 2011 debacle is off, now for the other...
  17. Ashley Cole

I wouldn't discount City so readily. From what I've heard they are having serious problems meeting the HG quota (More so with Milner/Lescott looking to leave). I reckon Cole would fancy his chances of getting a game ahead of Clichy as well. Along with Liverpool I think they are the most likely destination for him. As for on the continent, I remember he was heavily linked to PSG at one point, and I don't think anyone really rates Maxwell. It would tally with his claim that he "wants to win things" as well.
  18. Squad Status: 2013/2014 Season

A response was given here: https://twitter.com/chelseayouth (I believe Juni=chelseayouth, but may be wrong)
  19. Squad Status: 2013/2014 Season

Useful link for those wondering about homegrown/club trained status of players. http://thechels.info/wiki/First_team_squad
  20. Perhaps you would prefer a link to the Times reporting on it? (Perhaps you could provide a list of sources you approve?) http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/football/clubs/chelsea/article3161877.ece I find it funny that you are happy to accept the story if it supports your view, but reject it when it doesn't. What is to say that the stories about the quotes being made up aren't also false? On another topic, you seem to have ignored the comment on Torres's comments after the CL win. Any comment on them?
  21. Could you perhaps explain it to me? Or are you commited to the clairvoyant impression?
  22. I don't understand this comment. Feel free to find soruces you deem reputable for the quotes, theyre all over the place. Torres is a sulky fool. That's not a bad in itself, but when you're a shocking player you can't get away with it. That's about it for my comments on him. Arsenal fans go on about Diaby being a new signing when he comes back from injury, can't help but feel we may say the same when Torres leaves.
  23. Oh yes, the old "mistranslation". If you believe that, you'll believe anything. But then again, the level of rationality when people discuss Torres tends to 0, so I'm not really expecting much.
  24. Torres, minutes after our biggest triumph ever: "I'm not happy. Now the season is finished we will have more talks to see what happens in the future because this is not the role for which I came," http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/fernando-torres-slams-chelsea-and-hints-841821#ixzz31zGyxxD1 On his team mates: "The kind of player Chelsea has: an older player, who plays very slow" http://www.theguardian.com/football/2011/sep/12/chelsea-fernando-torres-slow-old One could draw conclusions from his body language, particularly after being dropped against Juventus (A), but I don't think we need to.

The problem isn't with him staying in itself. The problem (as I interpret it) is that if he stays, those who make the decisions will treat him as fully able player, which he no longer is. We are so short in midfield and can't afford to carry him. So in order of preference (assuming current squad composition): 1. New CM + Lampard 2. New CM 3. Lampard
