  1. Massive red herring that. The fact that Pulisic broke through at an incredibly early age shouldn’t disprove the fact that he is injury prone. He’s played a lot of games for his age because he broke through early; he also gets injured a lot. In fact, as Chelsea fans we should disregard what has happened in his career previously and focus on what he has done for us. If you isolate these last few seasons I don’t see how anyone can say Pulisic isn’t injury prone and keep a straight face.

Liverpool also have Robertson and TAA who play like wide forwards to support their front 3, thus making a front 5. City do the same but their two supporting players are normally KDB and Silva to complete their front 5. I’ve got a real bee in my bonnet about this but yesterday we played with a front 2 and 9 defensive players. Even against the lower teams it will be incredibly difficult to break down a back 5-6 when you are outnumbered so badly.

This. I’m not mad on a 3-5-2 formation at the best of times, but if you play that way, you absolutely have to include at least one attacking midfielder (Not Kovacic or Kante) and wing-backs who stay high. Love Dave but he offered nothing yesterday. Instead we had 3 CB’s, RLC at number 6, Kovacic and Kante who are traditional 6/8s, and two full backs playing at wing back. So only two truly attacking players out of 11. Incredibly pessimistic stuff.

^ Is Silva available? I could well be wrong, but I thought he had to isolate for 10 days. Also, if ever there was a game in which Saul was going to be given minutes, it would be a Home European match against the ‘minnows’ of the group. (I wouldn’t start him personally, just saying)
  5. I know Andorra aren’t the best, but Chilwell looked really good today. Up and down, was a constant threat on the overlap and tidy in possession. Got his first England goal too which will hopefully do his confidence a world of good having scored for us in his last game also.
  6. Chelsea 3 Southampton 1

Don’t disagree with this, but I’d add Mount to this list too. Makes intelligent runs into the channels and can beat a player. The players that slow our attack down and make us predictable / easier to defend against are Ziyech and Havertz.
  7. Juventus 1 Chelsea 0

Well it clearly is because Jorginho was on the bench at his expense today. Maybe, but fortunately our manager is judging him on performances which is why he has appeared in our last 4 games.

You’re wasting your breath mate. DWMH made his mind up about RLC a long time ago and now refuses to change his opinion irrespective of what he does on the pitch. He recently said his performance against Villa was disappointing (despite being MOTM for most people) and that it was unlikely we’d see him until after City, Juve, Southampton and Brentford are over. Well he’s appeared in 3 out of 4 so far, so fortunately TT doesn’t seem to share his opinion - which is all that matters I guess.
  9. Chelsea 3 Southampton 1

Really entertaining game that, and I thought we were very good despite the officials best attempts to hold us back. Few thoughts: • TT said after Juve that we lacked energy and today we saw CHO, RLC, Chilwell, Kovacic and Werner’s pace and ability to run with the ball make life very difficult for S’ton and they were lucky we only went in 1-0 up at the break. • Chalobah was excellent throughout • Lukaku had a couple of good chances but was overall quiet again • Werner ran his socks off and was dangerous the whole game. His goal ruled out by VAR was incredibly harsh and apparently his 16th disallowed goal for us! • RLC will get lots of minutes this season if he keeps playing like this. His ability to turn defence into attack at the drop of a shoulder is such an asset • Really poor tackle by Chilwell on Tino Livramento to concede the penalty but made up for it with a brilliant goal. I thought he was otherwise decent today but still not quite his usual self • Fair play to Barkley and Mount who came on and made instant impacts. Ziyech and Havertz are in for some serious competition and need to raise their games to get back into the team.
  10. Juventus 1 Chelsea 0

That was hard viewing! Our front three (who cost c.£200m) need to do a lot more. No movement or energy from any of them.
  11. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 1

Do they? I don’t agree. You beat the first man and it pulls everyone else behind him out of position as someone has to then go to the ball etc. Why do you keep bringing Gilmour into the conversation? He’s on loan because he’s a promising kid and needs regular game time? Not really anything to do with this.
  12. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 1

The point was obvious for me - I was calling for it at half time. Jorginho is great at what he’s good at. Buzzing around, creating angles, receiving the ball and popping it off, setting the tempo. City pressed like demons today and at one point had 70% of the ball, rendering Jorginho almost useless. But the moment that KDB skipped past Jorginho on the touchline was probably when TT decided the game was becoming too open and Jorginho has neither the pace or strength to protect the counter attack. RLC is also very effective at beating the press by going past a man or two. As we saw in the week and again today. You thought we wouldn’t see him again for a few months, but fortunately TT saw what the majority of us saw. I’m not clambering for him to become a nailed on starter either btw, but he will definitely have his uses over the course of a long season.
  13. Chelsea 0 Manchester City 1

Collectively, of course they are!! Rudiger, Silva and Christensen are better than any of their CBs for starters. Walker stands out, but both Azpi and Reece are better than Cancelo We shouldn’t hype City up too much today. We were crap and got it badly wrong tactically. Their goal was a bit flukey and other than a couple of half chances, they didn’t ever look like they were going to pump us.
  14. We all know you don’t rate RLC, and some of his criticism has been warranted, but he was superb last night. And this isn’t a Chelsea fan / academy bias, he is making headlines on the back pages of the papers too. This video completely contradicts some of your claims. Yes he takes a lot of touches as that is his game (so does Kante and Kovacic) but to say he was strolling around unchallenged is nonsense. Villa are a great pressing team and we saw that yesterday on the likes of Saul. With Ruben however, he was able to beat his opponent through his first touch or strength, take them out of the game and start an attack. He did this on multiple occasions last night - as well as setting up two clear chances for Mount and Ziyech, and stopping a number of counter attacks. I don’t remember him giving the ball away either - he was brilliant.
  15. Saul, Sarr, Ziyech very poor IMO. Chilwell very safe and plays much deeper than Alonso who is almost a forward at times. Chalobah and RLC have been very good and everyone else has been okay. Lots of running from Werner but no threat. For me, he isn’t someone who should be leading the line, he should only ever be used off Lukaku or Havertz.
  16. This was the team he put out - so definitely a much weaker defence, but the midfield and attack weren’t the kids - in fact, KDB, Mahrez, Foden and Sterling all played 90 mins which is interesting.
  17. An attack which includes any three of Ziyech, Werner, CHO and RLC (which is what almost everyone is suggesting) is about as toothless as it gets, but not sure what the alternatives are. In years gone by I’d always back a Giroud, Tammy, (Demba Ba even!) to grab you a goal, but I don’t get that feeling with any of those three. Tommy T surely has to rest Lukaku though, so I’m going to go with Werner, Ziyech, Havertz for tomorrow with Lukaku, Mount and whoever performs best against Villa to be the three selected for the weekend.
  18. Chelsea 3 Aston Villa 0

Jorginho surely to be brought on at HT? Ideally Azpi and Mount would join him but no one makes 3 subs that early, so I’d go for Mount for Ziyech too
  19. This game against Andorra would have been ideal for Chilwell to get 60 or 70 mins. Christ only knows why he’s playing Trippier as a LWB. At least Reece is starting though…

Five players for 3 positions given the amount of games we play is cutting it fine at the best of times. Add in the fact that one of those five is 36 years old and still travelling across the globe to play for his country and doesn’t play twice in a week generally, whilst another has only made 1 PL start for us, it’s not inconceivable that we will be thin on the ground at times (IMO)
  21. Transfer Talk Topic

Whilst it was a very good window, and the squad overall looks very strong, I am a bit concerned we’re light at the back, now we’ve let Zouma/Ampadu go and not bought Kounde. We know Silva can’t (won’t) play more than once a week ideally and we also know AC is prone to the odd knock. At that point we are pretty bare. I love Chalobah and properly rooting for him to make it here but the guys played two games at the top level, so we need to be patience with him. Suppose Reece could drop in…but it looks like a lot of games for Christensen and Rudiger
  22. Transfer Talk Topic

I don’t disagree but depends how hard he pushes. We aren’t a club to keep people against their will, so if Leicester/Everton genuinely came in and he pushed to go, then I wouldn’t bet against it. Technically, we have still got RLC and Barkley on the books for those real peripheral roles too (ducks for cover)
  23. Transfer Talk Topic

Depends. We all see CHO as a flying left forward, but Tuchel sees him as a RWB, and therefore IF Kounde comes in, it’ll be James, Azpi and Kounde all ahead of him in that position. Up top, it’s Lukaku, Havertz, Mount, Werner, Ziyech and Pulisic all ahead of him. Sneaky suspicion this one might have legs

Goals against the bottom clubs are exactly the goals we need! Dropped points last season against West Brom x 2, Southampton, Brighton, Villa, Wolves, Leeds etc.
