  1. A little reminiscent of a certain H Crespo. Making all the right moves but never given the ball. I'm sure the tide will turn. Perhaps playing Zhirkov rather than Essien could create some supply? One on form the other decidedly not........

Some notables I've seen recently; Antichrist - one of the best starts to a film I've seen in years, beautifully shot but could do without the gratuitous cock and balls shot that Von Trier seems to like 'shocking' us with. Pretty tough film though and extremely gruesome at times. Coming to America - classic. Say no more. The Collector - utter shite heist film meets Saw. Avoid at all costs. Book of Eli - Denzel Washington in a post apocalyptic America wandering about in a semi Clint Eastwood style generally 'sorting geezers out'. A good yarn with a nice twist. The Dukes of Hazzard. - Jessica Simpson (splodge) is the only reason to watch this. 127 hours - instantly recognisable as a Danny Boyle film. People get a bit upset with the whole 'arm thing' but aside from a couple of 'ouch' moments and some wincing it's not bad at all. As a whole though really nicely paced, great cinematography and actually rather emotive. Highly recommended. Into the Wild - up until 127 hours probably the best film I'd seen in a long while. College dropout shuns society and buggers off into the middle of nowhere. Lots of flashback narrative that really sucks you in. Lovefilm this badboy, you won't regret it!
  3. Musical Tastes

Can't say much for her music but I do love Kylie. Front, back and in the mooth area. ;-)

And on a less serious note: http://www.weebls-stuff.com/songs/patrick+moore/
  5. Didier Drogba

Valencia even over Tevez is a disgrace. Seriously, Frank has been uber screwed over here.
  6. Musical Tastes

Just getting into 'Animals as Leaders'. Jeez, that Tosin Abasi can't 'arf play! You couldn't dance to it though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hpeeuIGo6M&feature=related Probably mainly of interest to musos and generally guitary people ;-)
  7. still thinks Jesper is better than Robben. And Malouda. And Ribery.

Also saw 'Babel' last night. Wow. In a good way. Avoid if you are allergic to subtitles.

Saw 'Cemetary Junction' this evening. Certainly raised a smile or 94. I would highly recommend for a giggle, especially if you've ever lived in a small town. Gervais' comments around the breakfast table and banter with the nan are first class dialogue. Definately 'British' humour though (and I don't mean that just because I've put a 'u' in it! ;-P)

Watched 'Fargo' for the first time tonight. Was distinctly underwhelmed. There are far better Coen Brothers movies.

Indeed. Twilight=juvenile shite. Even The Lost Boys p**ses all over it.

Saw Frost/Nixon yesterday (thanks for the tip whoever plugged it earlier in the thread) - phenomenal. I don't know if it will be in the running for the up and coming oscars or whether it was out in time for the last batch but Frank Langella delivers a masterful portrayal of tricky Dickie. I think I'll wait a while and then do a back to back with 'All the President's Men'. Avatar is now the largest grossing movie of all time, with the second largest grossing being Titanic. It appears that the movie going public deserve to be flagellated to death. Either that or the creators of this monumental cascade of fecal detritis want hanging. I can understand curiosity but this is ridiculous. Where's my gun?

    Nope, sorry.

It's such a pity as Cameron used to make really great movies. He's been sullied by the Hollywood 'man'. Although I do agree he delivers the basics consistently I think that qualifying it as 'art' simply because pre pubescents get all misty over some bullets and special effects is a little extreme. (It's ok WB, I know you weren't saying that.) However, if you compare him to a director like Peter Jackson I.e. never made a good film but due to that steaming pile of LOTR has been given free reign with the chequebook, he still looks pretty good! Whereas Ridley Scott's movies, although not always great, do hang together well and are beautifully shot and some of those bad boys are most definately art! (Just not art in a Darren Aronofsky way!)

Not hard mate, as 99% of 'new' Hollywood movies are remakes. Perhaps the writer's strike still affecting things? Or perhaps Hollywood is devoid of good ideas...........for a change! I think the last truly 'original' movie I saw was Eastern Promises, or perhaps The Lives of Others. I find foreign films more 'reliable' these days from a satisfaction point of view. Quick question for those in movieland: If Cameron wanted to make a protest movie about Western Europe killing off the Aztecs/Incas, why did he paint them blue and introduce metaphoric bestiality rituals? Very strange, but somewhat masochistically enjoyable, if only for the 3D jiggery pokery.
  17. Ashley Cole

Indeed, I have known it as the Daily Homophobe for some years now. Couldn't even force myself to read the whole article. It'll all be drivel anyway. Edit: Skipped the Mail 'content' and just read the interview. They're just getting a kick out of being publicly cretinous! Surely noone credits either of them with custody of the family braincell on this given day?

Just watched Anchorman again, for the first time in years. Highly amusing, but certainly not to everyone's taste. Not as good as Orgasmo!

Can't believe noone's mentioned 'Under Siege' and Erika Eleniak coming out of that cake!?! Not 'Citizen Cane,' but great tits! I thank you
  20. Salomon Kalou

Not one of our finest players by a long chalk, but he does occasionally bring an important goal to the table. Considering we can't sign anyone else to do that job for the foreseeable, I dont see what the problem is. He will be on less than half the amount Sheva bent us over for and has provided (on his lesser contract) more goals. Time to stop crying methinks!

If you think that the Waterboy's storyline is about disabilities, then with all due respect you are misidentifying the point of the story. Bobby Bouchet isn't disabled, he's mollycoddled and shielded from the world to the extent he doesn't know what is normal behaviour. I'm actually finding it quite tragic that you can't see this in all honesty. Whilst I feel for you having ADHD (my girlfriend has it in her family, so I deal with it semi regularly) if you let it define your life you're always going to feel sorry for yourself to some extent. Is that the way you want to live? As for not watching films because they deal with real problems, I guess you won't be watching many films from now on then. Unless you like Laurel and Hardy, that is. On a lighter note, anyone seen Orgasmo? It's from the makers of Team America, and is about an Amish guy going into the porn industry. As you can imagine, totally ridiculous and right up there with 'Baseketball'. Each to their own of course!

Dude, you need to watch 'John is Not Mad'.

MEDULA OBLONGATA! Waterboy like a lot of Sandler's films, I actually really enjoy. Mainly because along with Sandler himself, the premise is usually ridiculous in some way, and also he seems to be very good at convincing other 'serious' actors/actresses to appear with him who always look like they had a real laugh making the film (Kathy Bates, Jack Nicholson, Steve Buscemi etc.) Light relief I know but very amusing for me nonetheless. Wedding Singer alone had me laughing so hard I nearly cried! As for Happy Gilmore.........I think I actually did! The golf course fight is legendary!

Ha ha ha ha, I can't believe in all seriousness that people would actually consider watching ANY Transformers film expecting it to be of any real quality. I've seen both and they did exactly what they said on the tin. Full of CGI, a hot leading female and a massively overrated and expensive leading male. Anyone expecting them to be any different needs their heads read. Next you'll be telling me Fast and Furious was disappointing on the grounds that it was full of car chases/races and not an expansive plotline and engaging character development. Have a word! PS if the clue 'Transformers' wasn't a given you could of taken the hint that the director was 'Pearl Harbor' Michael Bay and Exec producer was Mr 'licence to print money' Speilberg. Arse
  25. Didier Drogba

The man has already delivered a fair bit of silverware to the Chelsea cabinet since he arrived. For that reason surely he is already a Chelsea great? Or does he have to conform to some other paradigm that I am unaware of? It'll be a sad day when he leaves us for sure. And there's another reason. Just my 10p. Toodles
