  1. Ashley Cole

John Terry didn't say anything last year remember? And that went on for a lot longer than this. I think the players ignore rumours and only comment if something is actually happening. For me a staged press conference with Ash saying he is staying is not necessary, Carlo is convinced and so should we be.
  2. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

They played very well yesterday. Kakuta's goal was great, as was the last one, the touch shown by the sub (number 12 I think) was superb. Bakambu looked like a good player too, although I thought he was lucky to score his header.
  3. New Kits

I think it would look better with orange printing rather than white. Is there a rule that says the printing has to be a certain colour in the Premier League or something? Any ideas what our 3rd kit will be? It can't really be the blue criss-cross one as that is also very dark. I'd hate practicality to get in the way of Adidas' design but surely we need a light kit?

Listening to: Titus Andronicus Paul Baribeau The Weakerthans Baths The National Tokyo Police Club Emperor X Postdata Spider Bags What makes you think you 'understand it'? Where are the rules saying exactly what it's for? It's a pretty silly system regardless of how it's used I think.
  5. Media / Press

Exactly what I was thinking. Didn't Drogba break a rib or two?
  6. Musical Tastes

Reviews? Its just all the old songs put on one disc. What is there to review?
  7. Musical Tastes

Been listening to: Titus Andronicus - A More Perfect Union Sleigh Bells - Crown On The Ground The National - England DOM - Living in America Screaming Females - Mothership Postdata - The Coroner Tokyo Police Club - Breakneck Speed Beat Radio - Sleepwalking Thee More Shallows - Night At the Knight School Greg Mullen - Ten Thousand Years Villagers - Becoming a Jackel Broken Social Scene - World Sick Fanfarlo - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
  8. Didier Drogba

Spot on. Drogba: 26 goals, 11 assists Rooney: 26 goals, 4 assists Obviously this is just my blue-tinted specs again.
  9. Didier Drogba

But it means a player for the top club could never be the 'best player' just because he is lucky enough to be at the right place. By that logic Darren Bent should win. As for the cross, that's my point exactly. It would have been an intentional chip if it had been Rooney, with ex-players cuing up to dismiss any cross rumours.
  10. Didier Drogba

This argument annoys me. So just because Drogba plays alongside better players he cannot be the player of the season. I think it's neck-and-neck between him and Rooney this year, with each being equally brilliant. I hink Rooney has won the award because of the media's hype over him, and as a result people look for things to praise him for before he has even done anything. It seems an 'easy finish for Drogba' always becomes 'a difficult and well executed finish by Ronney' regardless of the situation.Imagine Rooney had scored that chip against Hull or that freekick against Arsenal. Imagine Rooney had brought the ball down the way Didier did last week against Stoke to set up Kalou. The media (and most fans it seems) are more ready to heap praise on Rooney.
  11. Media / Press

I believe he was refering to the West Ham game at Anfield.
  12. Media / Press

Really? I thought Mikel got the ball.
  13. Media / Press

Agreed. Most people seem so eager to have a cheap shot at JT and the team they seemed to miss this. The penalty descision was wrong, the red card harsh considering what Spurs got away with and he continually penalised us for no clear reason. Also, a few of their chances were offside by similar margins to Malouda but they were allowed to continue.

I happen to love it. Each to their own I suppose. I would like to give it a go. Whether or not it will turn out to be any good is another thing though. I watched it a while back. Darkly comic, very entertaining. I enjoyed it too. I haven't seen many of the other Oscar nominations so I can't comment on whether it deserved a win though.
  15. Didier Drogba

Leave it out. Everyone is different and that happens to be the way Drogba reacts to unjust situations. I'd much rather see him get involved than take a kicking and go off crying.

JOHN Terry BREAKS A SECURITY GUARD'S LEG! The unfortunate accident happened last night as his car was surrounded by the press. He was driving at 1-2 mph. He was questioned by police and breathalysed. He also had an affair!
  17. Didier Drogba

The 'stamp' only came about because Motta was hanging off his back in the first place, trying to wrestle Drogba to the floor (again). Somehow the referee managed to miss all this but was eagle-eyed enough to spot whatever Drogs did. It was far from the levels of inadequacy we witnessed against Barca last year but he was infuriating all the same. As are rugby tackles (see any Chelsea corner) and raising your hands (as Motta did to Drogba early on).
  18. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

Just how good is Rhys Taylor? He's a local lad from my area and the general consensus here is that he has 'made it' and will go on to be a star. I've always been rather sceptical of this view as I've seen/heard of many a player who has disappeared into obscurity after spending time at a big club. Is he ever going to be Premiership quality?
  19. Musical Tastes

I'm enjoying Frightened Rabbit's new album. It is a little underwhelming when compared to The Midnight Organ Fight at first but it grows on you. It's best not to think of their 2nd album when listening to this and take it for what it is. Some of the choruses seem a little forced and one or two of the songs seem to have been recorded to play at stadiums are turn out a little bland. However it is still a great album and I like the comparisons to Sing The Greys . The National have announced their new album, High Violet, will be released on May 10th. Usually bands fail to live up to records that are of the quality of the National's previous efforts but I don't doubt for one minute that this will be epic. After all, they managed to follow Sad Songs with Alligator and then released Boxer whic arguably topped the lot. They perfromed the opening track on US television last night.... Can't wait.
  20. Frank Arnesen

I thought people had enough to moan about but obviously the current Chelsea apocalypse emcompasses all areas of the club. Could I add the current food crisis? The pies at half time have gone downhill lately, Old Trafford's Chicken Baltis are much better. WE ARE DOOMED! etc.
  21. Media / Press

I thought Southgate was good. He actually tried to explain what was happening in the game from a tactical point of view rather than just state the obvious (a la Andy Gray).
  22. Musical Tastes

I did download this at the time, beautiful listen. My current selection: Aftermath - The Kays Lavelle Circles 'Round the Moon - Nana Grizol A Letter Of Apology To My Parents For Becoming An Alcoholic (Song For Claudia) - Oh No Forest Fires Warning - Postdata Waiting on a Change - Deer Park Old Ideas - Jocasta Sleeps You're Muscular - BOAT Singer Songwriter - Okkervil River Postdata is the solo project of Paul Murphy, the frontman of Wintersleep. Massive change from the usual noisy stuff Wintersleep put out but it's lyrically great and his voice is superb. Frightened Rabbit's album is out soon. Those who are impatient can stream is from today or search for a leak. It sounds like a worthy follow on from 'Midnight Organ Fight'.
  23. Gael Kakuta

Well if they had no case what else can they do? We paid some sort of 'goodwill gesture' but I doubt it was as high as being reported. I think Juni mentioned it earlier, it's just FIFA trying to limit the damage. I'm starting to hear some people say we will now sell Joe Cole to fund a 'big' signing and maybe this decision was a bad thing. We wouldn't get any money for Joe Cole!
  24. Gael Kakuta

Really? My understanding of the events is that Lens never had a case against us in the first place. The article in the Daily Mail baffled me as it frames the story as if we paid them off our backs and 'escaped' a ban. Unless I'm mistaken this is complete BS. I look forward to Juni's review of things.
  25. Movies

The strangest thing about this story is the fact it doesn't happen more. If people are so easily enchanted by fantasy then why does Avatar has such an effect? Surely they feel the same everytime they see a particulary attractive member of the opposite sex on TV?
