Wow. Alex and JT out for up to two months each, That's a massive blow if there ever was one. So we could end up playing the rest of this year with the team that got murdered against Sunderland (plus Essien being back at home to Everton). We really will struggle for the rest of the year and if you take into account how bad we normally are in december it wouldn't be implausible we'll find ourselves in 4th place at the start of the year...
  2. Josh Mc Eachran

That's not correct. Josh has played at DM in half of his appearances with us and at LCM in the others. I pulled up the stats of that in some other thread but I can't remember where now and can't be bothered to look it up again.
  3. Injury News

With Ess suspended for three games we really really really need Lamps back asap. A midfield of Ramires, Mikel and Zhirkov is not inspiring.
  4. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

Would be a shame if we lost both Borini and Kakuta but at the end of the day the youngsters must have the bigger picture in mind when dealing with these issues. If you can be a squad player at a team like Chelsea and you actually get minutes on the pitch you'd have to have a moronic agent, or be incredibly stupid yourself, to want to leave that behind. Can't for my life see how Kakuta would get more minutes at Bayern compared to us, especially in his positions where they are well stocked with world class talent.
  5. Josh Mc Eachran

In roughly half of the sub appearance McEachran has done with the first team has been in the deep-lying central mid position. Make of that what you want but they are too many for my liking. However, he seem to play slightly higher up the pitch compared to Mikel.
  6. Josh Mc Eachran

This worries me a bit. Seems like CA is trying to mould him into a new Mikel, I.e. fantastic ball control and range of passing. But unlike Mikel I feel that Josh's ability is somewhat wasted in that position... I'd like to see him in a left sided midfield position - much like Lampard.
  7. Salomon Kalou

Sturridge was offside. But a bad miss nonetheless.
  8. Salomon Kalou

Yep, I'd even go so far as to say very well played last night Kalou. Great ball for Anelka's opener.
  9. Josh Mc Eachran

Agree 100% with you there. But I do feel that Ramires had an excellent game yesterday!

Mate, Chalobah is 15. He has just started to play for the reserves. He won't be anywhere near the first team (I mean playing time) for atleast another two seasons (if even that). Talented? Yes. Too young at the moment? Definitely. But we do have fantastic talents coming through at the moment. This is the best bunch of youngsters we've had since atleast the 60's. But by recognising that it doesn't mean we all think they'll be world class players. To be honest I think the majority on this site have a very sober attitude towards the youngsters coming through. Of course there are extremes - but you seem to be positioned at one end of the scale (super negative) with a few others in the opposite end (Josh will play for England before the season is over). Most of us are in the middle realising we have extreme talent coming through but that there is still a long way to go to realise their potential. Let them have time to bed in and judge this move by the club in a few seasons. Only then can we say if it was the right move or not.
  11. Josh Mc Eachran

I agree with your thoughts 100%. Of course Josh, at 17, isn't ready to step up to play 60 minutes away to one of our fiercest rivals. But that is not the point - not for now atleast. For him to ever reach that stage in his development he must be nurtured into the first team - which is exactly what CA is doing. So far the young lad has more than held his own and he has played at some pretty difficult places - no matter whether you think he has got serious minutes or not (which of course he has. Anyone suggesting otherwise either think we are the best team in the world by a mile or is just displaying an enormous amount of arrogance). I'm not afraid to ask why. In fact I even gave you a nice suggestion to why. The lad has potential. CA recognises that potential and wants to develop it and make sure Josh develops to his full potential. Simples. The question I would like to ask you is why you constantly try to talk down our youngsters coming through at the moment. I have never said he is world class, or even suggested he might be. I am merely stating that we have an extremely talented bunch of players coming through and that the club is right to give em a go - anything else would be commercial suicide. The time to judge this move by the club is at the earliest at the end of this season, possibly even later than that. So far so good however.
  12. Josh Mc Eachran

That's almost like his trademark dribble. Did it a few times in the Cup run last year as well, especially at home to Villa in the final.
  13. Josh Mc Eachran

CA gave Josh 60 mins against Palace, 45 mins against Ajax, 32 mins against Frankfurt, 11 mins against Zilina, 44 mins against Newcastle, 10 mins aginst City, 2 mins against Marseille, 15 mins against Villa, 17 mins against Sp Moscow and 9 mins against Wolves. Do you really need to ask why? Obviosuly CA sees fantastic talent in him. When he talked about the young player with fantastic ability during the summer everyone thought he meant Kakuta. Now it's fairly clear he actually meant Josh. Josh progress into the first team needs to start somewhere; he has been brought on to play "serious" minutes against Newcastle at home, City away, Villa away and Spartak away. He isn't here to make up the numbers, he is here on merit. Why you ask? Because his talent is extraordinary for a 17 year old and because he has showed he has the potential to be a top player. Why do you think? Because Arnesen says he needs to play. Why can't you just stop your 'Glass half empty' attitude and enjoy the ride for once?
  14. Josh Mc Eachran

McEachran was suspended from the club last year? When, for how long and for what?
  15. Injury News

That was planned. Carlo doesn't want to risk him on the artificial pitch. Ramires is out as well (injury) and I thin Carlo might want to rest Essien for the same reason as Bosingwa.
  16. Media / Press

He must have mistankingly thought the noise created by the Chels fans were Villa. No other explanation.
  17. Josh Mc Eachran

A very fair comment which I agree with 100%. He has the technical ability to play as a first choice midfielder already now. However, physically I do not think he is ready to complete a full 90 mins at this level, keeping the high level of performance as he has done in the handfull of cameos he's had with us. Nonetheless, McEachran is the biggest talent I have ever seen coming through the Chelsea ranks hands down. Frank's long term replacement? No, I feel he is more in the Iniesta, Xavi, Pirlo mould but that does not mean I do not think he'll make it at this level. If he improves his physique I fele he can be a very important first team player in 18-24 months. He's bound to get 15-20 appearances this season where most of them will be coming on as a sub. But what a talent he looks like. He's almost better at this level than when he played for the youth team in last years cup run. At this level his intelligence is better utilised by his team mates. Individually he dominated in the youth team last year but he fits in the team better at this level.
  18. Injury News

Many reasons for that. Operations are not always straight forward. Complications, aggravated injury during light training etc. Very harsch. What serious injuries have the club missed? Yossi? Any other?
  19. Injury News

Well Bruma is supposed to train on Thursday while Alex and Kalou won't return to full training until next week. So definitely out for Villa are Alex, Kalou and Benayoun; with JT, Bosingwa and Lampard question marks.
  20. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

That's really interesting. Would you care to expand on that? Personally I think it sounds a bit strange to send them on loan to improve a certain aspect of their game. I mean, wouldn't it be easier to keep them at the club where we can monitor them better? Unless of course, the aspect of the game they need to improve is to play against grown men and get used to that. Which I guess one culd easily take as being loaned out to gain experience.
  21. Injury News

So Bosingwa, Benayoun, Kakuta, Kalou and Lampard out. That leaves us with 12 senior outfield players. Ivanovic, Cole, Ferreira, Terry, Alex, Essien, Ramires, Mikel, Malouda, Zhirkov, Drogba and Anelka. Can't afford many more injuries now and we must hope for Benayoun, Lamps and Kalou to return asap.
  22. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

    Apparently.
  23. Salomon Kalou

The point I'm trying to make is that many Chelsea players have been booed by the CFC fans when first signing for us. Malouda, Drogba and Mikel are 3 shining examples of players who have been forced to do it the hard way in order to get the supporters approval. It's stupid and idiotic. I do not say everyone have to think Kalou is the best thing since sliced bread or even like him. Just don't boo him.
  24. Salomon Kalou

I tend to agree with that analysis. Especially with the confidence bit. You can easily see when his head goes down. Often associated with him missing a pass/chance/lay-off and the subsequent, almost mandatory, booing toward shim. Happened against Blackpool. He was full of confidence until he missed the 1-on-1 with the keeper. After that the fans were on his back and his performance deteriorated. All players are in need of confidence when playing. Some more than others. Kalou is such a player. Much of his game is built around him taking initiative - pick out a tricky pass, make a run, dribble past a defender etc and all of that will improve with confidence. That's why it bugs the hell out of me when people boo him. He needs support, not people taking a swipe at every chance they get. Much like Drogba when he first came here.
  25. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

Mourinho were on about this ages ago and it really is appalling that nothing considerable has been done with the reserve teams yet. I like your idea.
