  1. Michael Essien

Don't know what this has got to do with Chelsea, how Michael Essien's father lives his life is his own business. I can't stand tabloid stories that meddle in the personal lives of others - e.g. Ashley and Cheryl Cole - to create a negative perception of one or more individuals when we or they don't even know the full story. I have to ask myself why anyone would possibly consider it news and worthy of their attention? Beats me. I suppose it's just another example of how our country has become obsessed by this celebrity culture, and how in turn has affected the quality of journalism these days. Do we really need to know how a certain Chelsea star sent sexy text messages to a shop assistant on his wedding day? Or would we rather hear about his performances on pitch, his thoughts on the club and team personnel, and his ambitions for the future? Please let us cast these rubbish peices of 'journalism' aside and forget about them, if nobody reads them, the reaction that the writer wants simply can't happen. The only reason we react is because we feel it's a snide dig at our beloved club and one of our top players. If you don't want to give the journos the satisfaction, don't pick it up in the first place, and most definitely don't take it seriously.
  2. Michael Essien

Players say these things, but as you said, things can change overnight in football. It's like me saying I'd be happy to stay at my present house for the rest of my life, then a horrible mass murder/suicide happens in the room next to me, I'm gone. :P
  3. Didier Drogba

Correction: Carvalho over Cannavaro, every time I saw that man play last season I was unimpressed, looked shaky as a leaf in Real's defense, at times... Can't really comment on his overall performance for the season, however I do believe him winning the European player of the year/golden boot of some sort (??) was undeserved, as is his place in this list, IMO.
  4. Didier Drogba

If this is going on last season, then I'd have picked Carvalho over Terry, and Essien over Gerrard. Cech shouldn't have been included because he was out for a long period, Drogba's place in that list is fully deserved, nobody can argue with that.
  5. Salomon Kalou

Carlton Cole reminded me of Peter Osgood too, at times... The reason Kalou looks like Thierry Henry is because he bases his game on him, he once said that Henry was the person he idolised most in football. I myself can spot the similarity, just like I noticed with Carlton Cole and Ossie, both are no comparisons in terms of ability, it's simply their styles or 'idiosyncrasies' which bare the similarity. Kalou's got the potential to become a top player, but I doubt he'll reach the level Henry did, and I'm not so sure if he'll develop into that player in this league, who knows. I think what he needs first of all is a good coach to guide him, eradicating all those bad habits from his game, much like JM did with Joe Cole.
  6. Name Change

    Thanks very much.
  7. Name Change

Guys sorry if I'm being a pain, but if any mod is reading this, any chance you could alter my user-name to Blueboy 90 ? I really don't understand why I did some letters lower and some upper case, looks like I had a broken caps lock button or something. Anyways, yeah I would appreciate it, just think it looks a bit stupid left as it is. Cheers.
  8. Didier Drogba

Drogba upset about Jose leaving? Please, if I was getting the money he was each week I wouldn't be crying my eyes out and considering leaving the club...Unless someone else can match or better the deal I currently have. All about money at the end of the day. All this crap about emotional ties and so forth is bollocks, Drogba and everyone else will go where the money's at, simple as that. And we all know where the money is...Right here that's where.
  9. Musical Tastes

This is what I've got saved on my computer at the moment anyway... Billie Holiday - Lady Sings The Blues Frank Sinatra - My Way - The Best Of Rory Gallagher - Big Guns (The Very Best Of)
  10. Didier Drogba

I think the Drogs will move on unfortunately, just a feeling I have. I sincerely hope not, God knows we could have done with him these past few games, but I actually think Drogba would follow Jose if the offer came in from the club Mourinho happened to be managing at the time. We'll wait and see I guess, Real Madrid seems a possibility.
  11. Didier Drogba

I just can't imagine Michael Essien singing, he comes across as the shyest person in the whole team, at least when talking in front of the camera. As for Didier Drogba, well I'd definitely pay to see that.
  12. Musical Tastes

At the moment I'm listening to a lot of Joe Walsh/James Gang. Great stuff.
  13. New Kits

No thanks, that's a pretty horrid looking shirt. I don't even like our current one, I wish we'd just do away with Adidas and use a more simple and elegant design. All those stripes and stuff just clutter it. I'd like Puma personally, think of the Italian shirt, this one to be exact. I think this ones the same?? I don't like the Italian away shirt though, the bit underneath the collar is too big. Although it ain't that bad.
  14. Salomon Kalou

I don't see how some people can possibly justify their opinions on Kalou, everyones entitled to one obviously, but some just seem particularly rash, as well as not making much sense. It's very hard to question his potential, after all, we're not the ones who watch him in training every day, we're not the ones with years of experience in the field of scouting and football coaching at a professional level. Even so, we could pass judgement on what we've seen so far of him in matches, but surely it's too early for that? I mean, he was brought so we could nurture his talents and unlock the potential within, not so we could expect him to become an immediate success. We could post clips from individual matches to try and 'prove a point', but it won't, it won't prove anything, it wouldn't prove anything more than me sitting here telling you 'Kalou will be the next Thierry Henry', you just can't prove it. Statistics themselves might give us an indication on the boys potential, but they won't tell us conclusively that he'll become a world class player. Watching him make most of his appearances off the bench at late stages in games won't show us a whole lot either, but he's done more to suggest he's got it in him rather than the contrary. He's managed 5 goals, made various important contributions through the course of the season, and generally looked very bright. The only thing that was notably lacking was his finishing, and possibly confidence later on, which is pretty much expected anyway. There's nothing that suggests to me that Kalou doesn't possess the ability to become a future star at Chelsea, I've developed my own opinion of him after closely watching his contributions throughout the season, and at times I couldn't have praised him higher. Forget what you think he's done at Chelsea, just watch him at Feyenoord for example, search YouTube and you'll see just why various prominent figures in world football rated him so highly, and why eventually, Chelsea paid good money for him. Try and make a list of all the foreign imports who made an immediate impact on the premiership without taking at least several months to settle down first, it's a short one I bet. Then, try to pick out how many of them are 21 years of age and younger... All his so called 'nonexistent' contributions in a Chelsea shirt are far outweighed by those which suggest he could easily become a top quality player at the club, it doesn't tell us beyond doubt that he will, but it certainly contradicts other negative views of him and, IMO, shows they have a weaker argument. Remember this is a debate over his potential ability, not of his immediate chances of becoming a big hit, how can you justify your argument that he doesn't have the potential to make it at Chelsea? Because he's failed to make many notable contributions in a massively under performing side? The teams been poor this season, even before the big injuries hit us and crippled our defense and confidence. It was hardly the perfect situation for him to start in. Just give it time, once he starts to become a regular starter in the team, and the team get their act together, we'll be able to make much better judgments.
  15. New Kits

Yeah it's definitely the bluewings shirt. I'm not a big fan of this seasons kit, not really a big fan of most modern ones though.
