William Gallas in taking a medical with Arsenal before he seals his switch to Arsene Wenger's side as part of the Ashley Cole deal. Gallas has made it clear that he is desperate to leave the Bridge and by moving to Arsenal he staying in England's top division. New Gunner having medical 22:14 8/31/2006 William Gallas is taking his medical and should be an Arsenal player before the transfer deadline kicks in. Ashley Cole has already taken his medical, but the full terms of the swap deal have not yet been revealed. id="quote"> id="quote">So supposedly both players have had a medical, which was a couple of hours ago now. Surely they would have signed on the dotted line by now? C'mon I can't take the suspense.
  2. Ashley Cole

I think the deals gone through. Chelsea want him badly enough, they would have given in to Arsenals demands eventually, let's just hope I'm proved right.
  3. Ashley Cole

Ah well, there's always the January transfer window. It seems that Arsenal are being a bit up-tight when it comes to negotiating a deal with Chelsea for Ashley Cole. Not that I can blame them mind, Would you want to sell one of your best players to one of your main rivals, especially under these circumstances?. They must be feeling pretty bitter about the whole thing, and want to just keep him there and make sure Cole doesnt get what he want's. As for Gallas, well who knows what will become of him. He wont be playing for us, that's for sure. Still, we are not quite sure, as there have been no official statements on wether the clubs have reached a deal and the transfer has gone through or not, so I suppose we just wait for the conformation. If we haven't signed him, it will be interesting to see if he features in any games for the Arse this season or not. How would the fans react to him? It's like a soap opera this is.

quote:Originally posted by dooder12Arsenal looks like they're going to sell Reyes to Real Madrid with a possible exchange for Julio "the Beast" Baptista. Baptista will be great for Arsenal and may add some power to their attack. id="quote"> id="quote">Sounds like a possible scenario. Arsenal did want him until he went to Madrid instead. Would be a good move for them. Still, alot can still be done in the transfer market of whats left of it. I expect Chelsea to sign Ashley Cole with William going in opposite directions.

  6. New Kits

Ok, so for all of you that absolutely hate the black kit. We have some options to choose from. These are some of the Chelsea away kits that we have had in the past. If you could choose bewteen these kits, what would it be? (of course a more modern version of one.) 1. Yellow and Blue. http://www.toffs.com/content/ebiz/toffs/images/houseman1.jpg http://www.toffs.com/content/ebiz/toffs/images/1832a.jpg 2. The "Brazil" http://www.toffs.com/content/ebiz/toffs/invt/1841/1841.jpg 3.This weird one.. http://www.toffs.com/content/ebiz/toffs/invt/1802/1802_m.jpg 4. The red and white one. http://www.toffs.com/content/ebiz/toffs/images/1813.gif Would you really like to see us play in a Red kit? The colours of the enemy...Or a yellow and green one which looks more like Norwich than the classy Brazil. In all honesty the yellow and blue one is the best bet..Even though Arsenal have played in one like that.
  7. Didier Drogba

He might not score blinding goals. He might not be graceful and skilfull, and a joy to watch like Ronaldinho. He might not score 20 goals a season. And sure, he might dive now and again, and frustrate you with a bad touch.(Which I must admit, seems to have improved alot.) But, the man who is known as "Didier Yves Drogba Tébily" Or simply "Tito" as he was known by his family and friends, can sometimes have a HUGE impact on games. We can be playing our worst match of the season, knocking hopeless long balls, and failing to string a couple of passes together. All the players look out of touch, and the game is just torture to watch. (Yep, sounds familiar)..But then, Suddenly Mourinho decided to bring in Drogba, and the whole game changes instantly. He can bring bags of pace, energy, and sheer determination and win us a game. As Grahame said, it doesnt matter how he scores, thats not whats important, it's just the fact he can create chances for himself by splitting the defense wide open with his pace and strength. Most of his goals have not been a pleasure to watch, but alot have been at critical moments. He is one of those players can out of knowhere produce a single peice of magic and brighten up a dull football match. We dont know what to expect of him, and sometimes that may work in his advantage. The defenders dont know what sort of Drogba they will get. His strength, and determination can help us hugely. Sometimes his work rate has been phenomenal, even though at times he looks like he has two left feet. All in all, I would say he is of huge importance to us, and some severly underestimate him. I say watch out for "Tito" this season, especially in the big games, because I think he may contribute more than most other players on the pitch. I didn't know that he was cousins with Olivier Tébily of Birmingham City...I guess you learn something new everday.
  8. Didier Drogba

Nice one WashingtonBlue. I agree entirely with what you said, and think it's unfair that Drogba receive such criticism all the time. As I stated before, we should be talking about the positives, not having a dig at him for something that he is a small part in. Diving is annoying, but Drogba is not the worst diver by far, and he is not the only one in the premiership, by any stretch of the imagination. What he contributes up front is great. He has the ability to scare the hell out of the oppposition, and create goal scoring chances.
  9. Didier Drogba

quote:Originally posted by Bluejim24HaHaHa, I've just nearly fell off my chair, If ANYONE is stupid enough to pay £20million (I know we paid £24m), Then Sell him NOW. id="quote"> id="quote">I think that's an unfair comment to make. We have all seen glimpses of what Drogba is about. His goal against Blackburn was an example. believe me, he would'nt still be there if Mourinho did'nt rate him, and think he could'nt give us goals upfront. I think he will flourish this season what with Shevchenko to keep him company. We have all criticised him enough, now let's talk about the positives and say how disastrous he can be for opposition defenses at times and split them wide open. He will score goals this season.

quote:Originally posted by Pete Bull>> I say swap Gallas for Kaladze Why would you want to swap Gallas for Kaladze? id="quote"> id="quote">I don't know. I think that it would not be a bad deal. Supposedly Gallas has his heart set on AC Milan. Kaladze, is unhappy with Ancelotti because lack of first team opportunities. If we could do a straight swap, it would save us a bunch of money instead of forking out £20 odd mil for Ashley Cole, it would save time, and would definetly strengthen up our back four. Kaladze would surely be a better player than Del Horno, and would be usefull at Centre back aswell as his normal left back position. And I dont think Ashley can play centre back. We would be getting another good versatile defender.
  11. Ashley Cole

I say swap Gallas for Kaladze, and get this thing over with. Let Arsenal be stuck with someone who doesnt want to play there.
  12. Ashley Cole

Harry, I have to say I agree. You may have a good point regarding the friendships of the two players. But I do think hell would freeze over sooner than the gooners would ever want to sell thier prize asset to us. A £30M offer sounds like a splendid idea to me, after all, why not? The more they realise we are interested in thier star player, the more they would be willing to do business with us for Ashley Cole to avoid letting Thierry go. It sounds like a win win situation for us.
  13. Ashley Cole

    > The last official statement from Stamford Bridge declared the club's reported £16.5m offer for Cole to have been a "final offer". I'm hoping Arsenal will see sense and take this offer while they can. Ashley Cole is now in a position where he needs to go somewhere. His career will never be the same again at Arsenal, its almost if not ruined totally now. I dont see how the fans would react to him staying once again, after two attempted moves to Stamford Brige. > The Gunners did offer £5m for Gallas, an offer Kenyon explained had been shunned. "We rejected an offer, but I know they are interested in him and would still like him to be part of the deal," "Even if he isn't we don't think it will stop us from getting Ashley Cole." It seems PK would go as far to swap Gallas and still pay the full asking price for Ashley Cole. But would Mourinho? I wouldnt have thought JM would have the same idea, and can remember him clearly saying that he is staying regardless wether he likes it or not, because he has a contract to fulfill. IMO, we should accept a reasonable offer for William, as it would only mean losing him for nothing later on. The man has clearly stated he doesnt want to play at Chelsea, Which deeply saddens me, but we cannot be wasting our time with unruly players.
  14. Salomon Kalou

I couldnt really make a fair judgement, since I have never seen him play for any other club but us. I thought he would be really lively and strong on the ball, but this doesnt seem to be the case. But.. let's give him time, as he will most probably need it. And then see what comes of him. It is well too early to say anything yet, as the boy has only been wearing the blue shirt for five minutes, and as we all know, even superstars find it difficult to hit it off in the premiership first time of asking.
  15. New Kits

Some seem to act like it's the end of the world. We have had worse kits down the years than this one. I dont think you need a reminder on which one I might be talking about in more recent times. A black shirt is quite a sensible way to go IMO. Still, it would have been nice just to stick to the exact same design as the current home and away, but in black of course. http://www.chelseafc.com/classic_kit_displ..._-_1994-96_Away http://www.chelseafc.com/classic_kit_displ..._-_1990-92_Away Does it really seem that bad now?

quote:Originally posted by True Blue Loucahttp://www.liverpoolfc.tv/replicakit/euro_kit.htm Just checked on the Liverpool site about their "Euro" Kit and seems its only for away games. Hopefully that means that our black euro kit is only for Champions League away games too, so its still Blue for home, phew... Wish the club would make this more clear... id="quote"> id="quote">Looking at Liverpools Euro kit makes our one look a whole lot better. What's with the green bit?.
  17. New Kits

What is the point in having a Euro kit, if you are not going to use it home and away?. Surely you just stick with the normal home and away shirt? Don't really like it that much, but its not hideous.
  18. Ashley Cole

The thing is, the last thing we want is Bridge being replaced now. Have you seen him? He is looking sharp once again, and making some dazzling runs up the wing. He has two assists in two games, and will contribute much more, including the defensive aspect of his game. I just feel it's the rest of the defense that will let us down now. It's just one thing after the other with us.
  19. Didier Drogba

I was speeking to a few mates during the man city game, and we all agreed to expect to see alot of gaols from Shevchenko this season. You can tell by watching him, that he is settling in nicely and is only a matter of time before he starts his goal spree.
  20. Ashley Cole

Full Article quote:Wenger- “I’ve given him permission to move and at the moment we have not reached the deadline,â€Â“I could put him in the squad and then he could be sold tonight so I do not want to be confronted with that situation. “At the moment it doesn’t look like [the deal will be completed],†said Wenger. “I don’t think that it is any financial problem, I don’t know what’s stopping it  certainly not our demands. id="quote"> id="quote">I think that he also goes onto suggest that Ashley will probably still be an Arsenal player even after the transfer window closes. For the sake of Cole's career, I think it's very important that both club's reach an agreement soon. If Arsenal are asking somewhere in the region of £25 million, I think Mourinho will just tell him to shove it. He has brought in "Khalid the Cannibal", to provide extra cover, and he is a versatile player. I have my doubts on this deal now, for the first time. But fingers crossed eh?
  21. Didier Drogba

I don't know what it is with Drogba. He causes havoc for opposition defenses at times and scores important goals occasionaly. But the majority of the time he is let down by his bad touch, and play acting. If you would give me someone like Adriano instead of Drogba, I would take it in a flash, but I still think Didier can do well this season with his new partner. It's obvious that JM has faith in him, and that can only be doing his cofidence the world of good. I hope he can prove to us what player he really is this season, if he doesnt live up to the level that we need from him, then he may not feature in a Chelsea shirt after next season again. Just my opinion, which many of you probably wont agree with. >Personly I think Crouch is better I wouldnt even compare the two's ability. Drogba is a far better player anyday than the beanpole.
  22. Ashley Cole

Riise, Lahm, Cole are three I feel we need to go for. Any of those and I would be happy.
  23. New Kits

It's ok. Just the home shirt with reversed colours. Not bad at all.
  24. Ashley Cole

I hope they get this wrapped up soon. I can't wait to be on holiday with all me Gooner supporting family, and rub it in thier faces..sweet.

quote:Originally posted by robbie16quote:Originally posted by BluEbOy90How much for Cheryl instead? id="quote"> id="quote"> I reckon 3 pints and a pie 'n' beans and Cheryl would be mine. Well, maybe now she's best mates with Posh, a wine spritzer and three bits of sweetcorn. On a serious note though BlueBoy90, I noticed in a previous post you said you believed Cole could be our most important signing this summer. I disagree with this but I want to know why you think so? Cheers. id="quote"> id="quote">I beleive (as we all know), we have a slight problem with the left back position at this moment in time. IMO, Ashley would be a fantastic addition to the side, and may dramatically improve the strength of our defense. Providing Willy see's sense and apologizes for his childish actions and hopefully stays, We will have the strongest defense in the country, and possibly in Europe aswell. I rate him and always have rated him highly for his defensive and attacking capabiltites. Shevchenko was a brilliant signing, Ballack was a brilliant capture, and so was the other two younger players. But Cole would be the icing on the cake for me. He will fill in a gap which has been bugging me for a while now. Gallas is a good player, but he's not naturally left sided and finds it hard to play there sometimes. With two naturally left sided (Top Quality) defenders, We have a much stronger side. Also the two Coles will link up well together on the left side if Joe plays there. I can't really explain in much more detail why I think he will be the most important of the lot, but it's just a feeling I have. Maybe it's because I will get to see Cheryl more often.
