  1. Didier Drogba

It's not happened since Jose has been with us and the best they could manage - when we had Geremi Paulo Essien A.Cole as our back 4 - was 2 goals.I think their best hope is to take us to penalties somehow.
  2. Didier Drogba

Yes times 7. All the reasons why Drogba is absolutely brilliant and everything we could miss in the final. What about start him, but take him off if we are winning the 2nd leg at half time?
  3. Didier Drogba

No, that's why I asked the question. I hope Rafa Benitez and his trolls are on the same wave length as you. I doubt it though, because some of them have half a brain.
  4. Didier Drogba

One yellow card and we don't have him for the final. Would it be a good idea to not start him and only use him if we have to? Or do we have to use him from the start if we are going to go through?
  5. Didier Drogba

Haha. This is what they have for Mikel too: Height: 184cm Weight: 85Kg Almost as bad as that Nigerian national homepage where players played before they were born.
  6. Didier Drogba

I'm 1.98m and 100kg, not exactly Peter Crouch, but not fat.
  7. Didier Drogba

Yes, not even the statistics can demonstrate everything he gives to the team. Defensively he is superb, something Scholes doesn't know anything about. Can we? Well they certainly haven't missed his creative presence. His 2 goals and 6 assists contributed to 53 goals last season. They've already scored 49 this season. The biggest difference has been defensively, where Spurs have conceded 12 more goals already, which can mainly be attributed to the absence of Ledley King. Gilberto is a limited defensive midfielder, Fabregas is a youngster who is a notoriously poor, inconsistent finisher, Denilson is a 17 year old who played a handful of games in the middle of this season.....Lampard has scored and created more goals than any midfielder and attacker except Thierry Henry in the last 3 seasons. I'd rather not stare at Paul Scholes's arse for any length of time, I might become delusional like you.

Nice. Can't forget the Carling Cup Final 2 seasons ago, not just Gerrard's own goal, but his complete dissapearing act in extra time. I remember Frank saying in a post match interview that he told JT something along the lines of: "look at them (Carra and Steve), they're done, we've got them where we want them."

I'm surprised you haven't already, I brought it up back here.February 7th: http://www.CFCnet.co.uk/forum/index.php?sh...23239&st=50 I'm pretty sure someone else had a link to it before me too. Perhaps we should have a thread which includes all the 9,999,999 arguments that Lampard is fat and useless and all the counterarguments people have used on here backed up by solid statistics and a lot of sense, then simply divert people to it at the slightest hint of wanting to get into yet another Frank debate.
  10. Didier Drogba

I've seen Scholes at the best part of his career. He was a good player, but he's done nothing Lampard hasn't and not as much of the same thing.
  11. Didier Drogba

How is that tangible? Lampard scores, creates and defends more than Scholes. Stats back it up and all we have as testimony of Scholes' genius is a couple of self-proclaimed bias Utd fans. Not good enough, try harder.
  12. Didier Drogba

Would you like to explain how the team was "shocking" without Terry? I think it's fairly clear that Carvlho, on his own, carried our defence superbly and continued to outshine Terry when he came back into the team.

    In terms of pure production here is this seasons leaderboard: Player- Goals & Assists Ronaldo- 30 Drogba- 23 Rooney- 23 Lampard- 21 Arteta- 19 And for kicks, here are the rest: V-Persie- 18 Berbatov- 17 Crouch- 17 Anelka- 16 Yakubu- 16 McCarthy- 16 Johnson- 15 Viduka- 15 Martins- 15 Gerrard- 15 Henry- 15 Kuijt- 15 Fabregas- 14 Doyle- 14 D.Bent- 13 McBride- 13 Agbonlahor- 13 Kanu- 13 Taylor 13 Bentley- 13 Saha- 13 Zamora- 13 Heskey- 12 Giggs- 12 K.Davies- 12 Barry- 12 Pedersen- 12 Speed- 12 Milner- 11 Keane- 11 Bellamy- 11 Diouf- 11 Lita- 10 Lennon- 10 Defoe- 10 Hulse- 10 Sidwell- 10 Solskjaer- 10 Sheva- 10 Kalou- 10 Adebayor- 10 Barton- 10 Soccernet says D.James- 243, most saves (8 more than 2nd most Hahnemann), Opta says Hahnemann at 153 saves with 79% of shots saved. 14. Didier Drogba

Obviously the goals are all for the Premiership, as that's the competition they were all bought to play in.
  15. Didier Drogba

Premiership strikers acquired in the summer of 2004 Van Persie- 2.75 million - 21 goals Emile Heskey- 3.5 million - 14 goals Dwight Yorke- Free - 2 goals Michael Bridges- Free - 0 goals Les Ferdinand- Free - 2 goals Francis Jeffers- 2.6 million - 3 goals Mateja Kezman- 5 million - 4 goals Didier Drogba- 24 million - 40 goals Ivan Kaviedes- 2 million - 0 goals Marcus Bent- 400k - 7 goals Andy Cole- Free - 12 goals Thomas Radzinski- 1.75 million - 10 goals Djibril Cisse- 14 million - 19 goals Alan Smith- 7 million - 7 goals Wayne Rooney- 30 million - 40 goals JF Hasselbaink- Free - 23 goals Mark Viduka- 4 million - 21 goals Patrick Kluivert- Free - 6 goals Gary Doherty- 750k - 3 goals Lua Lua- 1.75 million - 19 goals Diomancy Kamara- 2 million - 4 goals Ricardo Fuller- 1 million - 1 goal Peter Crouch- 2 million - 12 goals Nwanko Kanu- Free - 7 goals Robert Earnshaw- 3 million - 12 goals 25 players bought for 97.5 million pounds, at an average of 3.9 million each. They scored 289 goals at an average of 11.56 goals each. On average every goal cost about 337,370 pounds. Times that by 40 and you get 13,494,809 for Drogba's actual comparative goalscoring worth, about 56% of what we paid for him. That would make the likes of Robert Earnshaw, Tomasz Radzinsky and peter Crouch much better buys on paper, which is, of course, laughable. Interestingly Boro paid 4 mill for Viduka and Jimmy who ended up with more goals than Drogba or Rooney - so would we have been better off trying the same lethal duo up front? No, clearly not. For the record, Cisse comes out to 6,410,000 for goalscoring value. About 46% of his transfer fee. Rooney comes out to the same as Drogba, which is 45% of his transfer fee. Perhaps someone better with statistics than me can play around with this info and come out with some better conclusions.
  16. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

Woops, sorry Juni. Ismael was missing off the list, that's my excuse. There was a fair bit of churn last summer, I expect the same again this year.
  17. Musical Tastes

There's a Grandaddy album called 'Just Like the Fambly Cat', I wonder if it was inspired by that band...
  18. Didier Drogba

That's because the Opta stats are Premiership specific. ;)
  19. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

They won't play wingbacks, even if it might be the most logical formation with the personnel. We've seen how they move strikers to fullback in order to maintain the back four.
  20. Didier Drogba

I'm not sure whether the infrequency of the goals was more Jimmy's fault than the fact that we simply weren't as strong in the air back then as we are now. If anything taking corners was one of the few things I thought Jimmy was pretty good at. It did work out exactly like Ranieri said, he did take FK's when he was on the pitch....but he didn't score. which is probably what you meant, but I'm being pedantic and wanted to cover my tracks in case you were having a go at me :)
  21. Didier Drogba

  22. Didier Drogba

He was rubbish in the air and he struck the ball well and hard, meaning if anyone did get a decent head on it, it was probably going to go in. Remember Ranieri once said that Huth, whenever he was on the pitch, was the designated FK taker.
  23. Didier Drogba

I don't think it's fair, safe or even simply true. Considering Ronaldo has had 169 dribbles as opposed to Drogba's 80 odd I think it's fair to say he has had a significant amount more time on the ball and failed to do a significant amount more. I don't even think he's done the better tricks, he's just done more stepovers.
  24. Didier Drogba

I just stated facts, I have no clue how you came to your conclusion, it simply doesn't make sense.
  25. Didier Drogba

For attacking end product in the Premiership this season, Drogba: 29 starts, 3 subs, 18 goals, 96 shots, 41 on target, 3 assists. Ronaldo: 28 starts, 1 sub, 16 goals, 174 shots, 75 on target, 13 assists. If you ever hear someone say "it's amazing how many goals Ronaldo gets as a winger" you have permission to smack them around the head with anything close to hand. Even Lampard has only had 129 shots. I think everyone who's watched the Premiership also knows that Drogba does a hell of a lot more off the ball than Ronaldo ever can or will do.
