  1. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

You still can't grasp that youtube videos and international football are non-starters as indicators for something other than cheap thrills.
  2. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

Congratulations to Ben, but I wish it was against someone better than Estonia...then we could probably make something of it.
  3. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

In some cases I'd have no problem chucking them out at 19, they just simply look inadequate (Younghusband, Pettigrew etc). The club do seem to have a different policy and we do seem to have a better quality of youth player now, so it's probably justified that we give relatively inexperienced players a bit longer to prove themselves. Similar to Utd I think.
  4. Musical Tastes

I'm 20 (which is old by some youngsters standards, but still....) and I've never bought a single and have several hundred albums.
  5. Salomon Kalou

Silly question. The answer will obviously be no and for good reason.I think we can probably write Salou off from ever being the next Henry, but that's as far as I'm willing to go right now (which isn't far atall considering how absolutely superb Henry has been).
  6. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

I've heard some mixed reports about Grant at Wycombe, but mostly very good. I can't see him ever being good enough for us, but I have a hunch (and that's all) that we've signed him for two reasons: 1. He's a reasonably valuable commodity at that level, we can make some money off of him...not much, but some. 2. Ruud Kaiser, Arnesen et al. have all made the point that the process of succeeding with us as a youngster is a long one.....cutting him loose now wouldn't give the right message to players who think they have until their early 20's to make it.

Thanks very much for putting this video together DWMH, greatly appreciated. If nothing else I'd say despite a generally poor performance he shows he's a clever player, particularly with his running off the ball. He was unlucky not to get a second penalty, even if he did go to ground easily for the first. I don't think this alone is anything to make a judgement on. I'd say any long term negative conclusions aren't logical based on a performance where he does generally badly but still makes the most telling contribution.

Haha, that would be a sort of hell for me. I don't have any specific tracks...I have 3 albums: Cassetteboy - Dead Horse. The Sleepy Jackson - Lovers. Rage(atm) - Battle of LA.

Bazza's interpretation of things is invariably one extreme of something generally open ended...open ended because we aren't behind the scenes and cannot take everything that comes out of the club as being 100% gospel truth.I think it is easy to see that there isn't one person with a final say in any transfer matters, but that Roman and Jose could (and probably have) put their foot down over certain decisions. Roman on who doesn't come and Jose on who does. Jose has made it very clear that the process of selecting who we buy involves all parties. Which makes sense to me.

You expanded on nothing, your post actually had a point to it outside of "leave him alone". If you had read the thread you wouldn't have bothered preaching to the choir (namely, me).
  11. Salomon Kalou

Haha, there's no way this can be genuine. Scored again today though.
  12. Salomon Kalou

Yes. Because you've read nothing of what I or anyone else has already covered. I think you'd do well to reread and delete. Mainly because I've already said exactly what you said.
  13. Salomon Kalou

Oh look, more spam. Please at least try and engage in the debate.

DWMH (apologies for the 'I' previously). I didn't know you were being serious about Youtube. I will try to watch the City game again to point it out to you, but I hope I won't need to if you actually look for yourself. There is one moment you couldn't possibly miss where he beats Richard Dunne for pace and forces a corner but should have had another penalty. There were others but I can't remember the times, sorry. I think it's unfair that you should ask for even the smallest examples of his ability and then when given them shift the goalposts, as in the example of the penalty he won, where it was the goalkeeper and the defenders age that really gave us the penalty and not Kalou's intelligence, skill or pace.

The facts are out where? With the stars and the aliens and the truth? Where is this quantifiable work rate level of his? All nonsense. He worked his nuts off running around after lost causes and long balls. Why would Jose make stuff up about the contribution of any of his players when he's proven quite ready to criticise them publically when they aren't performing? You haven't actually stated what that is though. You've not given any criteria or any standard or any measurement...much like the mythical work rate level. You've ignored the statistics that I've provided. By who's standards and for what reasons? You don't have to answer that specifically for Lampard here because that is for another thread, but hopefully you will see the point I'm getting at, that this is all far too unspecific and poorly defined. What did you want him to do? Score 3 goals? He came on, beat a couple of players, put in a few decent crosses and scored the crucial goal...he made an impact, which is exactly what we wanted from him. Or do you want more than that? Exactly right, it says and means absolutely nothing atall...thanks for clearing that up.
  16. Salomon Kalou

So the point is that you don't know your arse from your elbow....I'd suspected as much. Sorry, but this argument is proven rubbish. So he's being criticised because he's not living up to someone elses predictions? That simply doesn't make any sense. I'm not even sure that DIMH is actually criticising him, he just seems blind to anything Kalou does. You can't have thought this through. You are actually saying that he is worthy of criticism because in some games he has performed better than everyone else in the team (and thus performed when we needed him most)?
  17. Salomon Kalou

DIMH, did you see him beat a man yet? I'm starting to wonder if you actually mean physically smash someone to within an inch of their life instead of glide past them with a football. Here are some undeniable facts...he's influenced the last two matches by scoring a vital goal and winning a penalty demonstrating technique, pace and intelligence (you decide to what level). He's more productive than the two players we got rid of last season (Eidur and Duff) who had been in the country most of their pro careers and were in the "golden years" of many footballers, late 20's. He might end up being more productive than the both of them put together. Jose said he believes Kalou has "everything" needed to become a top class player....in time. I personally believe that what you (DIMH, Hugh) are looking for is really quite unreasonable and sounds remarkably like the critics of Drogba and Essien the previous couple of seasons.
  18. Salomon Kalou

He didn't play midfield exclusively atall and always was considered a striker doing a job. In fact both players consider their best position to be 2nd striker. The fact that he did play midfield atall probably makes the comparison with a player who never has and never will is a little unfair. So Duff is the next person to compair with and Kalou outdoes him too. (27 starts, 13 subs, 3 goals, 2 assists). I'd also point out that you can't compair him to any other Chelsea midfielder last season, because when he played in midfield the shape changed to accomodate him slightly and he was our only attacking midfielder outside of Lampard.
  19. Michael Essien

    Like it...like it a lot.
  20. Salomon Kalou

Writing this after his last performance suggests to me that you just don't want to know. You clearly did watch the match and if you didn't see any promise in his performance then there is nothing more I can say to convince you. Only time will really be able to say whether your lack of faith is wise or not.
  21. Salomon Kalou

He's not 6'1", he is at best 6'0". Don't just make up the 1/5 dribble statistic please. How many headed chances has he ever had? Not many, and he scored a corker too. He has outrun defenders and the sheer fact that you seem to be the only one that hasn't seen it should probably lead to at least questioning yourself once. Myopic at best. We all get that you don't rate him, you've posted the same thing about 20 times at least. Either engage in an actual debate or just rest assured that everyone who has ever come on here in the last month knows your point of view on him and it doesn't need explaining any further.
  22. Salomon Kalou

Who does? Yeah, because that was really obvious in that sterling second half comeback yesterday....on your bike you silly little xenephobe. Assumption is the mother of all f-ups.
  23. Salomon Kalou

Nice goal today, just thought I'd give him some props. Here are his stats for the season btw: Games Started: 14 On as Substitute: 19 Goals: 5 Assists: 7 And for those that say we'd have been better keeping Gudjohnsen...here are his stats last season: Games Started: 25 On as Subsitute: 12 Goals: 3 Assists: 5 And just for laughs, here's how he's done for Barca so far: Games Started: 19 On as Substitute: 14 Goals: 9 Assists: 0 I think Jose made the right decision again....here is to a long and succesful career with Chelsea Salomon.

Bought '...chutes' and their latest offering 'wincing the night away'...each time I hoped for better. Probably won't buy their next album; very one dimensional. They'd be glorified lift music in any world run by me. Can't begin to tell you how much I dislike this mans voice.Never heard of Dream Theatre before this thread....have checked it out on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieRFnlcsZ0g Sounds like computer game music (more specifically Golden Sun for the GBA during a fight sequence)...poor.
