When was the FSW at Chelsea? My mind's gone blank.
  2. Media / Press

I wonder what Bayern would do? (I know, I know, Godwin's Law.)
  3. Media / Press

^ I used to serve him, and Ossie, and many others, their lunch at what used to be The Black Bull. Just saying.
  4. Media / Press

Back in the 80s there was a very popular book in Germany, The Wit and Wisdom of Chancellor Kohl (or somesuch), which was a lovely-looking hardback tome with nothing but blank pages...
  5. Thanks, Droy, for pointing this out: I was a bit perturbed to read that as TSO's essential football theory. I didn't think to make the distinction between autobiography/biography/stitch-up job.
  6. Media / Press

I liked this (and bear in mind that Die Zeit is more like The Times than the Sun -- as its name suggests!).
  7. 14/15 Premiership Champions

^ Ah, yes, I'd forgotten about him. I've got "The Bricklayer's Tale" on a reel-to-reel tape somewhere, copied off a mate's 10" EP!
  8. ^ He said it first time round, referring to Spurs after a draw at Stamford Bridge, circa 2005.
  9. ^ I wish I could be a bigger person and let this slide, but I'm not: you mean a bravura performance (bravado is what Brenda does). Now, having shown myself to be a pedant, can somebody with more football nous than me explain the Citeh dig in TSO's speech: I don't really get what he's on about here...
  10. Khobar's Legacy

It's also worth bearing in mind the frequency of us turning out for parades these days, four or five in the last ten years, compared to one? I still think the turnout in '97 was way bigger than anything since, but then we had had a 25-year wait.
  11. 14/15 Premiership Champions

^ Na, more likely too many Dick Advocaats.
  12. 14/15 Premiership Champions

^ But, to be fair, he probably wasn't a regular at the Bridge in the early 70s.
  13. Khobar's Legacy

I'll never forgive Tyldesley's yelp of delight, "Iniesta!", on that night at the Bridge when we were robbed by the ref...

"I wouldn't say they've been incredible and I wouldn't say magnificent either, but Chelsea won it." Garth Crooks being as complimentary as ever. Door knob.
  15. Khobar's Legacy

When I saw the score, and one of the comments above, I assumed Brenda had played a weakened team to ensure they didn't get into the Europa League Poisoned Chalice, but apparently not. They're just sh!te.

Gerrard's top moments - number 2 The slip (No, really!)
  17. Media / Press

Is the "Reject" a noun or a verb?
  18. Khobar's Legacy

One of ours speaks: "I don't think it's about money," said Sutton, who feels Sterling "only wants to go to a big club". Sutton added on BBC Radio 5 live: "Should we be criticising Sterling for being ambitious and wanting to win trophies? "Liverpool have spent one season in six in the Champions League and have won one trophy in the last nine years." From here.
  19. Media / Press

According to a Guardian analysis of some Opta stats (and a pretty arbitrary weighting system), we're bottom of a league.
  20. West Bromwich Albion 3 Chelsea 0

^ Glad you've posted that, an earlier poster (Stokerino) had a similar, positive point of view of the fans' experience. I was just watching on a dodgy stream and I still got a tremendous buzz from the support. Absolutely brilliant. Good point, too, about the non-stop chanting being caused by the losing of the game, hadn't thought of that.
  21. Khobar's Legacy

I made that mistake with Nando.
  22. West Bromwich Albion 3 Chelsea 0

There's one camera angle I saw, post match, which clearly shows Fabregas more or less casually kicking the ball towards where a free kick will have to be taken. Careless, but no way violent conduct.
  23. West Bromwich Albion 3 Chelsea 0

Thanks, CTID, saved me the trouble of trying to remember the brilliant phrases TSO used in the PMI (I love my TLAs!). Disappointed in the result but loved watching the game if only to hear our support chanting, literally, non-stop. Brilliant!
  24. West Bromwich Albion 3 Chelsea 0

Brilliant support from our fans! Non-stop, "We're top o' the League!" Or is it, "We've won the League!"?
  25. Media / Press

Looks like we wasted our time sticking to FFP.
