  1. Josh Mc Eachran

Well, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing him play, and not just cameos. With young players (Romeu or MU's Jones for example) you get good games and not so good, all part of the learning process. So let's hope that Josh gets all his mistakes out of the way in South Wales.
  2. Media / Press

I know of more than on case of discrimination being won (with large compo payments) on nothing more than a few "Irish Jokes".
  3. Lucas Piazon

I see he played for the Youth team against Fulham on the 12th - 1st 45 mins. The club report doesn't say much, played on the right of a front 3, 1 shot deflected over.
  4. Media / Press

I was pretty surprised to see a CFC fan had been slagging off Sturridge (allegedly). I suppose some leopards don't change their spots. And nice to see the same from the media. The BBC website and others made it clear that only 1 fan was accused, the Mail however led the story with "Chelsea to ban fans for Daniel Sturridge racist abuse" - the implication being more than 1 rogue individual.
  5. Josh Mc Eachran

A great cameo against the Swans - let's hope he gets more minutes(hours) soon

This is definitely where the Gooners have the advantage over us. Playing youngsters is tricky, because they'll make mistakes. And 1 season without silverware and CFC show you the door, in contrast to the patience shown by AFC.
  7. Josh Mc Eachran

I certainly wouldn't make any claims about players myself, but I have seen comments from Trevor Brooking praising Chalobah's potential.
  8. Didier Drogba

I agree. The chances he's creating for the other players are vital. Looking at other players - Giggs and Sheringham for example - suggest that he can go on for a couple more years. As long as we don't flog him to Spurs, that's my nightmare scenario.
  9. Media / Press

Well, generally I've very little time for the Mail, with one exception, the excellent Martin Samuel. He's done an excellent piece on JT. Very much required reading. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1330989/John-Terry-lifts-lid-stripped-captaincy-World-Cup-flop--EXCLUSIVE.html

Well Josh must be pretty special to get so much exposure on the pitch, more than any youngster for years. Of course he's young and needs to be nutured, but it's promising. As for how he'll end up playing - no one has a crystal ball that good. When we bought SFL I was happy enough (though' I thought we paid to much) but reckoned Joe Cole would have been a shrewder buy. Look at how that's turned out. Lamps has applied himself and made himself a better player - he should be an inspiration to all the youngsters. And of course one dodgy tackle could end it all, so there's no point getting carried away. I remember thinking Duberry was better than Campbell, but then he picked up a few injuries and his progress seemed to stall. So fingers crossed he manages to avoid all the obstacles ahead, both on and off the pitch.
  11. Media / Press

Yes, nice to see something other than a hatchet job for a change. I'd put a lot that down to JT, making sure everyone is included, no cliques etc. I remember when we 1st challenged the gooners they were full of how their great team spirit would make the difference - what a joke that was.
  12. Media / Press

Is that the case? I recall Jason Donovan suing a magazine that said he was gay and he won (about £500,000). How can you prove that? He just denied it and the jury believed him. Going back far into history Liberace did the same thing, and he was bent as a nine bob note. Of course the problem is the amount of cash awarded depends on how much the jury like the victims. So JT might win a libel case but only be awarded £50 (I suppose on the basis that this story is all lies but what about the 50 other stories, so no reputation to defend). Of course VP might fare rather better.
  13. Media / Press

I'd have to agree on this. It's not just the constant sniping that annoys, but the complete whitewash that other teams get. With the start of the Champions League I was reading some of the previews and it is interesting so see history being rewritten so soon after the event. At least Samuel tells it like it is. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1312063/MARTIN-SAMUEL-Abramovichs-real-goal-make-ChelseaMasters-Europe.html
  14. Salomon Kalou

I'd have to agree. Watching in the pub I just assumed it was a dodgy cross but seeing it on MOTD it was almost perfect. And of course he did well to win a Penalty - just too bad the Ref decided not to give it. Of course previous experience tells me his next game will be a stinker - let's hope he proves me wrong.
  15. Didier Drogba

I don't normally read the mail but came across an interesting article by Martin Samuel which I thought worth sharing. For those who like that sort of thing there are some interesting stats. Amongst other things he says: "No Frank Lampard? Have they gone mad? The Professional Footballers' Association name their team of the season and fail to find room for the man who has scored more than 20 goals from central midfield for the fifth year in succession. It only goes to show, just because you play the game it doesn't mean you know anything about it*" Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1269284/MARTIN-SAMUEL-Forget-halo-blessed-Barcelona-tainted-greed.html#ixzz0mPuITzz2 In the same article were some refreshing views on Barcelona: "It was the same last season. Chelsea had the beating of Barcelona over two legs and lost because one of UEFA's Over-Promoted Useless Scandinavian Officials turned in his standard display". Having been on the wrong end of decisions against Barca 3 times (all Scandinavian Refs) I'm glad it's not just me who has a low opinion of these chaps.
