  1. Musical Tastes

Its about the time of year for a best of I reckon, My best of 2008 would be The Presets - Apocolypso Nick Cave - Dig Lazaras Dig The Drones - Havilah Augie March - Watch me Disapear The Grates - Teeth Lost Hearts Won Eagles of Death Metal - Heart On MGMT - Oracular Spectacular I'm sure I've forgotten some but these were my picks of '08
  2. Salomon Kalou

I feel ya Exiled, it does seem that there is no majority either way, I'm on the pro side for Kalou, he's got that flaw that most young players have, I mentioned it in the Mika the new Maka thread that his best is far too different from his worst... I think from memory that Robben had us all pretty divided...
  3. Musical Tastes

Josh Homme did a similar thing when Queens of the Stoneage opened for Smashing Pumpkins in Adelaide in April...a dude was crowd surfing and was about to get hauled out by security when Josh stopped "No One Knows" and said to security "leave him alone man, he's having a good time, whats he gonna do, take a really crappy photo from there" Couldnt have also been that he was sick of playing No One Knows for the millionth time
  4. Musical Tastes

Albums I have recently bought The Racoteurs (Saboteurs in Aus) MGMT The Presets Clair Bowditch and I really want to get an album of Laura Marling...anyone know if she has an album released, I heard its only available on her website
  5. Musical Tastes

Known as the Saboteurs in Australia...I can see why too, the name Racouteurs is way too offensive for me...I heard its because the record label didn't think Aussies would know what racouteuring meant. I dont know about that, our goverment has been doing for years.
  6. Musical Tastes

My recently purchased albums Nick Cave - Dig Lazzaris Dig - Classic Cave Birds of Tokyo - Universes - Love the guitars, love the lyrics, damn that man can sing The Who - Tommy - Finally said f**k it and bought the album...love it Coldplay - Viva la Vida - yeah yeah yeah, it was partly for my missus but really like it and the album soothes my baby son's tantys Creedence - Greatest Hits - I had 2 CCR albums get scratched to buggery so I bought the G.hits... a great driving album The Grates - Teeth Lost, Hearts won - Love the Grates they are quickly moving up my favs list British India - Thieves - wow, buy this album
  7. Musical Tastes

A real golden age of Hip Hop the mid 90's...Wu Tang group and solos (GZA, Raekwon, Ghostface, Method Man), Mobb Deep, Biggie, Tupac, Nas, Capone N Noreaga, Big Pun, Cocoa Brovas, Busta Rhymes, Kane & Abel, Lost Boyz...I know I'm forgetting some but these are still some of my favourite albums
  8. Best Live Albums

Nirvana - MTV Unplugged... Safety pick maybe but I definately rate it very highly and coz I remember seeing it late one nite on Rage, blew my mind Johnny Cash - San Quentin...The man in black sticks it to the man Pearl Jam - Live at Benaroya Hall...I just love Pearl jam, they could do a live album from a toilet and I would still rate it Led Zepplin - The Song Remains the Same...just for John Bonham's solo where Paige and crew go offstage and party while Bonzo does his thing Rage Against the Machine - from the Grand Olympic Auditorium...last concert of the band a quick footnote for those who enjoy live DVD's, my favourites would be The Doors - Storytellers series...the band gets their favourite singers from today to sing Doors songs with the band AC/DC - Live in Madrid...its AC/DC people Live Aid - The Who, Dire Straits, Bowie, Dylan, Clapton, Queen, Tom Petty...Kenny Loggins? Foo Fighters - Everywhere but home...Dave Grohl dedicating a song to a chick in the front row for her birthday...For all the Cows - priceless and a great version of Everlong
  9. Musical Tastes

  10. Musical Tastes

I would sell my first born to go to that festival...Louis you will do as your told
  11. Musical Tastes

I got tickets to see the Smashing Pumpkins and Queens of the Stoneage... I mainly got the tickets for Queens but it would be good to hear some Pumpkins tunes from my teenage years...oh the memories(or lack of)
  12. Musical Tastes

saw them at the Big Day Out a few years back...unbelievable...twas a great year that year...Muse, The Strokes, Metallica
  13. Musical Tastes

not really a benefit to people overseas but an Aussie comedian Andrew Denton hosted a radio show where musical acts would come in and do covers...Aussie artist Paul Kelly did an awesome version of Little Red Corvette by Prince
  14. Musical Tastes

I must take back any negative comments I have ever made about a certain Mr. Pete Doherty, I bought the Babyshambles on the weekend and I love it... love Pete's lyrics, love Pete's music and love his voice... anyone who is holding out on listening to this album because of his "antics" should give it a go and I reckon they will be pleasantly surprised...
  15. Musical Tastes
