  1. I don't really feel Hazard fits in with that group, he seems quite down to earth and likeable to me. For the rest of them though.. Seems like a talented but spoiled generation
  2. No deal involving selling Hazard will ever be good for us
  3. Don't know anything about Batshuayi but I'm glad we didn't spunk the big bucks on Morata og Lukaku - not overly impressed by either of them
  4. It's understandable that Mourinho going to United creates strong emotional responses from our fans. But all this talk of "one of us"... Maybe he once was one of us, maybe he's never been. Fact is we sacked him twice so we can't really begrudge him going anywhere. I can't really blame him for endearing himself to his new fans either, with all this "mythical club" talk and what not - it's part of what he needs to do to be successful in his new job. Fact is while I'll always love him for what he's done with us I wouldn't take him back over Conte now - it's just too much acrimony and conflict for me. So I say, let them have him with the good and the bad - we have our own stuff to worry about
  5. I love Mourinho for the titles and the memories but honestly, if I now had to choose between him and Conte I'd choose Conte. Not because I necessarily think he's the better manager but there's ony so much tension I can take and Mourinho brings a LOT of it. I'll happily let them have him for the good and the bad - we have our own stuff to worry about.
  6. Sure! Not sure how much I can help but I'll try :)
  7. I'm assuming when we sold Lukaku, we put in some clauses regarding percentages of next transfer fee etc. I wonder if this means we actually get him cheaper than the touted price?
  8. I can only assume they want him to reduce his wages and he refuses - wich well he should seeing as he's still the captain and the first name on the teamsheet. Come on, we can't let JT go!!
  9. Almost every manager gets the sack and is viewed as an idiot by a section of the fans at the end. I remember even Carlo got a LOT of stick on here at the end. Not sure Pardew is the right choice but I'd be curious to see how he'd do at a big club. He'd probably last 1,5 - 2 seasons and I doubt our next man in charge will last longer than that anyway. Doesn't hurt that he's a Chelsea fan either. I don't believe for one second he'll get the job though
  10. Jose: if you have such a big problem with the players feeling betrayed and all that,we do have young players willing to run through a brick wall to get a chance to play. Has anyone seen RLC since starting vs. Villa and being hauled off at half time? Where has Kenedy gone after starting vs. Norwich? We won both those games btw. I hope Jose stays and turns it around but I do tire from his usual complete faith in 13-14 players while seemingly distrusting the rest of the squad. Play Aina, play Ruben, play Kenedy, even throw Musonda in there. How can we be any worse?
  11. Re Papy: Give him a chance and all that but what I can't understand is we have all these players out on loan and still we have to go and buy unknown players for squad depth. Surely one of Ake/Kalas/Christensen could perform this role? But I know - Jose clearly just doesn't trust youth unless they are bought for big money
  12. Anyone reckon Bertrand Traore might be given a place in the squad next season? Seems to be doing really well at Vitesse but there might be some work permit issues still?
  13. We'll beat them, even without Costa. Screw them all
  14. It there a better feeling in the world than putting Liverpool in their place? Not for me anyway
  15. Wow, what an opportunity for Zouma this is
  16. It seems to me that Jose doesn't really trust either the squad players or the youngsters. As a result neither are given meaningful game time and when they finally do get a game it seems they suffer from rustiness, lack of confidence or that they are simply trying too hard. Que Jose losing whatever trust he had left in them, leaving us to recycle squad players (Schurrle/Cuadrado) while our youngsters (Ake/Lofthus Cheek) get overlooked on the bench even at home to Bradford. Meanwhile, we have a very good first 11, we're through in the Champions League, in the semi final of the carling cup and we're top of the league so obviously Jose is doing brilliant - I just wish he would utilise his squad a lot better.
  17. I think it will be stronger, something like: Cech - Azpi, Zouma, JT, Luis - Ramires, Matic - Schurrle, Hazard, Willian - Drogba Hope you're right about Christensen/Ake being given a chance but I doubt it
  18. Guessing something like: Cech - Ramires, Zouma, Christensen, Luis - Mikel, Ake - Schurrle, Baker, Willian - Remy/Drogba (Whoever is fit) I doubt Kane will start this one, even with both our right backs out
  19. Can't believe it's actually done, such relief! Thanks for a few good memories Fernando, hopefully both the club and him will be better off now
  20. I'll never forget the transfer deadline day in January 2011, so much excitement and joy surrounding the transfer of Torres. Could be a similar occurrence on monday - the only difference being that Torres leaves this time. Funny how things go sometimes
  21. Courtois Ivanovic Luis Terry Cahill Matic Fabregas Willian Oscar Hazard Costa
  22. I wan not a fan of Schurrle when we signed him but yesterday I could see how important he is to us. His constant runs in behind without the ball are essential for our attacking thrust and provides something different than Hazard/Oscar/Willian who tends to start deeper. Also, his shots from outside the area are dangerous and gives us an added threat. Very happy to be proven wrong about him!
  23. Welcome Diego. Haven't been impressed by the 7-8 games I've watched since he was first heavily linked with us but his goal stats last season was very good and he does seem to be a nuisance to defenders due to his constant running and physical presence. Every time we've made a transfer that made me really excited they've really not worked out too well for us. (Torres, G.Johnson, Zhirkov, Stanic, Laudrup, Gronkjaer etc) The ones I'd rather we didn't sign have a habit of becoming huge successes (Drogba, Anelka, Cole, Cahill, Gudjohnsen, Ballack etc) Costa falls in the last category so everything should be fine guys :)
  24. Really? For me, at times it felt like we tried to get in behind early almost too much, in the sense that we rushed it a little instead of a more methodical build-up. Just goes to show how different football can be perceived I guess :)
