Not the best of performances (yet again) but we got the job done. Not sure if this was already mentioned in the Matchday forum, but there was a lot of similar points from last seasons quarter-final game. A 1-0 win to the home side, the goal came after 4 minutes and there was a sending off in the 90th minute

Anyway, back to tonights game. Man of the Match for me was JT. Not just because of the goal but he was solid as ever and kept the Newcastle front-line quiet.

Anyone see Jose rip up his notes?

Sure we deserved to win but some of the players made some very silly decisions upfront. Made it very difficult for ourselves. Well done Chelsea!!

Cuducini 7 - not much to do much stayed alert

Terry 9 - MOTM peformance

Carvalho 8 - did really well

Del Boy 7 - okayish performance but a few dangerous tackles

Geremi 7 - Handled it all pretty well

Joe Cole 7 - nothing flashy today and did well defensively

Duff 6 - Gave the ball away a bit too much

Lampard 7 - much better than his recent games. Controlled the midfield

Maka 7 - crucial interceptions

Drogba ??? - really can't give a scrore. what do you reckon?

SWP - Oh dear oh dear

Crespo - Oh dear oh dear

Agree with what BluSun said.

Anyway, not a very convincing results but everyone was definately UP for it compared with the match at Craven Cottage last few days. And I really really want Gudjohnsen to start against Citeh. He played well. Should have been different if he wasnt ill last Sunday. Not sure why he was subsituted though, maybe a rest for this Saturday?

Overall, its all good. And Jose stick to this 4-4-2 formation please...
