Branislav Ivanovic - Goodbye, Farewell, Adios (thanks for the memories).

Time to review this after the latest cameo.

Maybe the Championship is where his level is at now ?

The last fifteen minutes of a championship game that is.

Love Branna. Sad to see him go but he is not quite there for 90 + minutes at this level.

If he leaves now he left 18 months too late. I was never a big fan of him but respected his passion and will to win. But from a footballing perspective he was never an elite RB imo. Always felt like a player who fell in between two positions for a team of our stature - not intelligent enough to be a CB and not quick and technical enough to be an RB.

PStill he's had a good career and lived off his physicality and desire.

Legs are gone now though and it's painfully obvious to anyone that he was living on the edge for all these years. If he had the skill-set he'd be an acceptable option right now. But he never had it. That's why his fall from grace seemed so sudden and severe.

Excellent in most games he has played this season.  After last season, when pretty much every player bar one disappointed (in part because every player either go picked a lot or was too poor to even get a game), the knives were out.  But common sense seems to have disappeared.

Superb example of how good Ivanovic still is on Saturday.

Except that he came on against a tiring mid level championship team.

I still think he can do a job as a squad player, at either right CB or RWB but let's not pretend Saturday was any sort of benchmark..........unless your benchmark is mid level Championship standard.

Sir

Sad to see Ivanovic go but it's understandable and Zenit seems a great move for him. A truly wonderful servant at the football club. Thanks for the memories, Brana!

Love Branna, he has been a top player for us and not only scored loads of goals for a defender but really big important goals.

Became an instant hero the day he scored those two up at scamfield in the CL.

If he is on his way then good luck to him, great player.

Great summing up, Dave. Respect for the player but in a nutshell what was always obvious to anyone who cared to look properly.

Another example of application over basic skillset and of how a team member can work in a system,

Wish him well and a big THANK YOU.

A great servant to the club and in his pomp like a tank , unstoppable , but time waits for no man and unfortunately for him and us , his time at this level was up.

Fifteen minutes against a mid table Championship level club aside.

Glad he signed off with a trademark goal.

Absolutely!

And that's not to be sniffed at, not at all. He deserves a big thank you and good luck. Fans will always welcome him back here and he was a mainstay in our team for some of our lost successful years ever.

If we as fans can't appreciate that than what are we?
